I'd put him at number 10. He's America's first astronaut and the first mission, "Freedom 7," despite being 15 minutes and 22 seconds long was pure unknown danger. His triumphant return after he was grounded found him walking on the moon on Apollo 14

Known for landing on the moon with Neil Armstrong, Aldrin recognized a critical flaw when NASA was trying to train astronauts to conduct EVAs. Suggesting Neutral Boyancy Training, solved so many problems alowing Aldrin to make 3 perfect spacewalks on Gemini 12, which got NASA ready to go to the moon. NASA owes him big time.

Cosmonauts should have their own list. Not because they aren't any better or worse than Astronauts, but apart from the fact that they are not astronauts and this is an astronaut list, cosmonauts having their own list would allow for more to be recognized.

Definatley on the list, though surprisingly, if I had a choice in rank, he would not be number 1 but rather number 2. First to walk on the moon is one thing, but you can't take away how he saved himself and Dave Scott on his Gemini 8 flight which also saw the first docking

Sure he was the only scientist to go to the moon, but that's it.
