I literally yelled "Bring it on!" during this ending. It does exactly what an open ending should: Make you feel like you've accomplished something spectacular while hyping you up for even bigger things to come.

This was good less for being satisfying and more for being speculative. With Earthrealm ready to go on the offensive and Outworld and the Netherrelam both rebuilding under sub-par emperors, it will be really interesting to see what happens in MKXI

Spoiler alert: The main villain is the narrator. And the epilogue reveals that, while he is waiting to "exact his revenge," he's been stewing over the loss for centuries. So you'll be dead at a ripe old age before he ever gives you any crap again.

It's implied to be far from over, but the Agency has been publicly exposed and rendered unable to retaliate. Yes, it ends with a funeral, but it becomes awesome when you see what happens in SF3.
