#10: A Bizarrely Edited Bout

Also in:

Top 20 Power Rangers FAILS

“Power Rangers Super Samurai” (2012)

During the final battle between the Samurai Rangers and Master Xandred, the Rangers bravely marched towards their nemesis as he blows them apart Zord by Zord. However, in one weirdly edited moment, we saw that the Megazod was in its Battlewing Formation. But it appears they’re piloting the regular megazord when Xandred goes in for another strike. However, we then see the Battle Wing formation get blown apart. The normal Megazord also didn't have a sword jammed through it. Somehow, it magically becomes impaled once more when the rangers issue the final blow. A combination of questionable editing and continuity errors made this climactic bout look bizarre.

#9: Sloppy Zord Edits

“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” (1993-95)
Although the Mighty Morhpin team appreciated the power of the new Thunder Megazord, their upgraded titan caused some major editing issues. The monster that the rangers fought each week wasn’t always the same creature that their new zord fought. As a result, the editors tried every trick in the book to make it look like The Thunderzord was clashing with the right enemy. Unfortunately, the editing didn’t always go smoothly. There were times where we’d see the original megazord show up briefly during a thunder megazord battle. In both “The Ninja Encounter” and “The Wedding” episodes, the wrong mechs and weapons can easily be spotted. It’s actually kind of fun to look back at battles where the heroes and villains rarely share the same space.

#8: Grandma’s Garbled Dialogue

“Power Rangers in Space” (1998)

Somehow, the fact that Ashley’s grandmother traveled to Angel Grove to play matchmaker wasn’t the strangest thing about this episode. At certain moments, the matriarch’s words barely matched her lip movements. And it’s definitely clear that the dialogue we heard was recorded after the footage was shot. It’s unclear why the production went back and gave the grandma new lines that didn’t remotely match whatever she was originally trying to say. Honestly, it’s more jarring than all the times Rita’s english dialogue didn’t match her mouth onscreen in the slightest. While we understood that was because the production was using Japanese footage, there’s little excuse for why grandma’s words were so far off the mark.

#7: Ryan’s Morpher

Also in:

Top 10 Hilarious Ryan Gosling SNL Moments

“Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue” (2000)

After Ryan learned that he was abducted by the Demons as a child, he found himself completely overwhelmed. As this revelation sunk in, he took off his morpher and let it fall to the ground. It was definitely a dramatic moment…that was completely undercut in a later scene. When Ryan confronts the demon who captured him, the morpher appears on his wrist again. You might assume he went back to pick it up offscreen or it somehow teleported to him. However, Ryan doesn’t have the morpher at the beginning of the next episode. He only gets it back after Captain Mitchell gives it to him as a gift. While this mistake isn’t obvious at first, you can’t unsee it after you know it’s there.

#6: The PINK Shogunzord?

Also in:

Top 10 Pink Power Rangers

“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” (1993-95)
Season Three of Mighty Morphin saw the return of Titanus, the original Carrierzord. With his return came two new Ultrazord combinations exclusive to the American based Power Rangers. They pulled this off by filming with the toys. While this method was almost flawless, they overlooked the Shogun Ultrazord. The main zord’s left arm is normally white. However, the toy that represented it had a pink limb instead. So, when the rangers formed the Shogun Ultrazord, the arm changes colors in between shots. This snafu may be why this zord formation was only used in the show once. While they didn’t think we’d notice…we did.

#5: The Dragon Shield

Also in:

Top 10 Power Rangers Weapons

“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” (1993-95)

When the production team for Power Rangers received the Green Ranger’s costume from Zyuranger, they didn’t get the foam shield and armbands. As a result, they had to make their own from a flimsy cloth material. This costume change was painfully obvious whenever the production switched between American and Sentai footage. Unfortunately, Tommy’s costume troubles didn’t end there. By the time they got a proper shield for him in Dino Thunder, they added a weird silver stripe to his helmet that wasn’t there. They digitally fixed this in Super Megaforce. However, it wasn’t until Super Ninja Steel that Tommy finally got a proper Green Ranger costume. It only took them 25 years to get it right.

#4: The Wrong Music

Also in:

Top 10 New Girl Mistakes That Were Left in the Show

“Power Rangers Megaforce” (2013)

After an intense battle, the Megaforce Rangers finally rid the Earth of Admiral Malkor. It was only fitting that the triumphant moment was underscored with the Rangers’ theme song. However, that never happens. If you listen closely, the Megaforce theme doesn’t play at their moment of victory. You actually hear the Samurai theme instead. Admittedly, there are definitely major similarities between both tunes. However, you would think that someone in the editing department would’ve been able to tell them apart. This super mega mixup made for an absolutely grating audio fail that took a lot of air out of the Megaforce team’s greatest triumph.

#3: Zedd’s Broken Staff

Also in:

Top 10 Worst Things Lord Zedd Has Done on Power Rangers

“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” (1993-95)

The time Lord Zedd had the Rangers trapped in another dimension without their powers should’ve been incredibly tense. However, there’s one little detail that really distracts us from the drama. If you look closely at the scene, you’ll notice a large strip of duct tape near the top of Zedd’s staff. You can’t help but wonder what happened to the prop behind the scenes. Did the Zedd actor grip it too hard and it just broke in half? Or did someone break it while moving it from the villain's space base to earth? Either way, this noticeable prop error made the sinister emperor look a lot less intimidating.

#2: A Megazord Sized Child

Also in:

Top 10 Evil Zords on Power Rangers

“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” (1993-95)

During the fight with Rita’s Ticklesneezer monster, the Megazord grabbed hold of the monster’s magic bottle and used it to try and capture Rita and her minions. While this is happening, a giant child can be seen next to the ranger’s titanic ride. There’s a relatively logical explanation for this mixup. In the original Sentai footage, there was a plot point where a child grew giant. But that key story detail isn’t in the Power Rangers episode. As a result, it looks like the heroes are completely ignoring the fact that a giant child showed up in the middle of their big fight. This editing mixup unintentionally makes it looks like really big kids are common in this universe.

#1: Super Mega Footage Fail

Also in:

Top 20 Super Bowl Commercials of 2024

“Power Rangers Super Megaforce” (2014)

After spending a season hyping up a legendary battle where rangers from past American teams would return, the event itself was full of continuity errors. We can overlook that Sentai-only rangers showed up without explanation. However, we can’t ignore that Tommy seems to be in multiple places at once. Although he clearly shows up as the green ranger, the hero’s voice is used for a black Dino Thunder ranger. TJ, Cassie, Ashley, and Carlos also create headaches because they were both on the Turbo and Space teams. But they somehow all appear as both sets of rangers at once. It would’ve been better to have voiceover dialogue explain how this was all possible then to try to silently sneak all these errors past longtime fans.

Don't forget every time the power sword appeared and the megazord grabs it with the wrong hand, before realizing his mistake and grabbing it with the other hand. Maybe do another take, guys. If it's gonna be stock footage repeated every episode.
