Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the best animated battles between bad guys. We’ll allow fights where heroes get involved and bouts that happened before villains turned good. Beware of major spoilers ahead. What’s the best villain vs villain brawl? Fight about it in the comments below!

#10: Baxter Stockman vs. Shredder & The Turtles

How Emma Stone Prepared to Play Bella Baxter in Poor Things

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (2003-09)

The leader of the foot clan isn’t exactly a great boss. After Shredder subjected Baxter Stockman to horrible physical and emotional punishments, the scorned employee returned in an exosuit. Since the advanced suit of armor gave the scientist super strength, a huge arsenal and could recover from damage, the foot clan leader couldn’t take his employee down solo. Shredder is ultimately forced to work the heroic turtles and their mentor just to survive. Baxter keeps the fight entertaining by revealing new exosuit abilities at every turn. And although Donatello ultimately secures the victory, Shredder definitely helped give the heroes an edge. Unfortunately for the heroes, their partnership with the big bad ends as soon as Baxter leaves the building.

#9: Mojo Jojo vs. An Alien Invader

Who Should Gary Oldman Play in the MCU? - Mojo Talks

“The Powerpuff Girls” (1998-2005)

When an alien enemy proves too much for the Powerpuff girls to handle, they ask their rival Mojo Jojo for help. He’s initially more interested in complaining about a stale baguette than stopping an invader. But when Mojo Jojo sees people bowing to the alien tyrant, the primate loses it. The villain enters a powerful rage state and knocks the giant extraterrestrial down a few pegs. This battle also pays off a joke by having Mojo Jojo deal a strong blow with a stale baguette. While the fight is brief, it does a great job establishing the primate as a threat while making us laugh. After this villainous beatdown, it was clear why the funny Mojo Jojo could match the Powerpuff girls in a fight.

#8: Skeletor & He-Man vs. Evil-Lyn

“Masters of the Universe: Revelation” (2021)

After the man behind He-Man gets separated from his power sword, the magical item falls in the hands of evil forces. When the witch Evil-Lyn gets her hands on it, her former boss Skeletor makes an alliance with the hero to stop her. The bony big bad has to rely on a wide variety of strong abilities just to keep up. Every time Skeletor uses magic, we’re treated to gorgeous animation. Additionally, it’s ridiculously entertaining to see him fight alongside the Eternia hero that’s given him so much grief. The unlikely duo ultimately isn’t strong enough to beat Evil-Lynn in combat. However, this battle won us over with strong animation and a fun premise.

#7: Omni-Man Vs. The Flaxans

“Invincible” (2021-)

Although we considered highlighting Nolan’s season 2 fight against his fellow Viltrumites, he’d arguably stopped being a full-out villain by that point. So, we focused on a season 1 sequence where Omni-man was definitely a bad guy. When an invading alien force tried to stake a claim on earth, Nolan quickly showed the villains that they had come to the wrong planet. He easily tossed aside their general and endured an army’s worth of firepower without getting so much as a scratch. After striking fear into their hearts, Omni Man effortlessly killed a ton of soldiers. Nolan then followed the aliens home, wrecked their cities, and ultimately destroyed their entire planet. Omni-Man’s devastating win established that neither heroes nor villains are safe from his wrath.

#6: Sportmaster Duels Black Manta & Deathstroke

“Young Justice” (2010-12; 2019-22)

Sportsmaster once believed his daughter had been killed by the sinister Black Manta’s son. Thirsty for revenge, the hockey mask wearing big bad launched an assassination mission. Somehow, Sportmaster kept up with Black Manta’s advanced suit with nothing but his physical prowess and sports-themed weapons. Their one-one-one was so evenly matched that we were on the edge of our seats until it was cut short. Before we had time to recover from that nail-biting battle, Sportsmaster got into another deadly duel with Deathstroke. Once again, we were treated to tight fight choreography and quick reversals until the last second of the bout. We honestly think the Justice League should consider recruiting Sportmaster to take on more bad guys.

#5: Magneto & Mystique vs Apocalypse & His Soldiers

“X-Men: The Animated Series” (1992-97)

It looked like bad news for the earth after two of the world’s strongest mutant villains decided to team up. However, it turned out Magneto was only pretending to be loyal to Apocalypse. As soon as the master of magnetism got an opening, he and Mystique turned on the arch villain. The duo was so in sync that they knockED the vastly more powerful Apocalypse out of his own base. But their victory was short-lived because their rival had an army ready to take them down. Although Magneto is pretty well-known for turning on other antagonists, we still didn’t see this great brawl coming. The master of magnetism showed a would-be god what a true villain looked like.

#4:Prince Zuko vs. Admiral Zhao

“Avatar: The Last Airbender” (2005-08)

The teenage prince of the fire nation was not allowed to return home unless he brought home the Avatar. When a military man named Zhao threatened to keep the royal Zuko from continuing the search, the young man challenged his elder to a sacred duel. Their fiery fight is as beautiful as it is deadly. Although the two enemies threw flames back and forth, their bout felt grounded because their movements were rooted in real martial arts styles. While both characters were villains at this point in the show, we found ourselves rooting for the underdog Zuko. It was extremely satisfying to see him turn the tide of battle and walk away as the sole victor.

#3: Doc Ock vs. Silvermane vs. Tombstone vs. Spider-Man

Top 10 Best Fights in Animated Superhero Movies

“The Spectacular Spider-Man” (2008-09)

A trio of New York’s biggest crime bosses decided to talk out their differences above an opera house. Although they were aiming to make a truce, Hammerhead managed to turn Doc Ock, Silvermane and Tombstone against each other. It wasn’t long before the trio got into a dangerous three way brawl that threatened villains and bystanders alike. While the slick action would’ve made this melee great by itself, Spider-Man’s appearance really put it over the top. The villains were torn between their desires to squash the webhead and to take each other out. And did we mention that a classy opera score played throughout the entire sequence? This length of the villain battle, excellent choreography, and surprising twists made it into a must-see melee.

#2: Lex Luthor’s Legion vs. Gorilla Grodd’s Gang

Top 10 Scariest DC Animated Villains

“Justice League Unlimited” (2004-06)

While a group of villains were traveling through space, they had to make a big choice. Side with Lex Luthor or Gorilla Grodd? After every villain chooses, a fantastic brawl breaks out. Seeing all of our favorite DC big bads clash on screen was like watching a childhood dream come true. Instead of rooting for a side, we were just waiting to see what happened when icons like Killer Frost fought mainstays like Toyman. The wild melee ended with a long awaited one-on-one between Luthor and Grodd. Although the primate had the physical advantage, even he couldn’t beat Lex’s intellect. In terms of sheer numbers, this civil war within the Legion of Doom stands as one of the largest animated villain fights in tv history.

#1: Darth Maul & Savage Opress vs Darth Sidious

Top 10 Greatest Darth Vader Scenes

“Star Wars: The Clone Wars” (2008-14; 2020)

We loved watching a battle between Asajj Ventress, Savage Opress, and Count Dooku turn into a wild free-for-all. (XREF) But the best villain clash of the series brought in a legendary big bad. After Darth Sidious heard that the duo of Darth Maul and Savage Opress were acquiring more power, the future emperor decided to put a permanent stop to their ambitions. Despite looking old, Palpatine had power needed to duel two enemies at once. He’s the shining centerpiece of jaw-dropping fight choreography that mixed lightsaber combat with dark side powers. Darth Sidious also shakes up the show’s story by killing Savage Opress. This dark duel’s amazing visuals and impact on the plot made it one of the most notable animated villain fights of all time.
