Who could forget that first awkward meeting next to the lake? This moment is so unforgettable that Lucas and Peyton would revisit the same lake during several of their other best moments. But more on that later. Though this first meeting is somewhat antagonistic, we all knew that it was the start of something special. Even though they don’t even know each other yet, they shared a personal moment where they reveal intimate feelings with each other. At this point, their opposing worlds collided for the first time, and they began the long journey that would lead to their happily ever after.

So the only thing better than them finally getting together, is when they find out that they will be getting a new addition to the Sawyer/Scott family. But just when you start thinking that it’s going to be bad news, she surprises us all when she tells Lucas she’s pregnant. And he is so shocked, and happy that the only thing he can say is, “I love you”.

Many of Lucas and Peyton’s best moments are dripping with drama and angst, but this time we get a fun and goofy moment between them. When Peyton's attempt to bake cookies does not go well, she and Lucas end up in a vicious fight about it, attacking each other with the cookie dough. Don’t get us wrong - we love all the drama, but through all the fights, the deaths, and the kidnappings that go on during this show, it's really nice to have something simple and sweet like this between them too.

This is an early moment in their story where it seemed that their epic romance was about to begin. Or at least to Luke it did. When they start to hook up, Luke drops the line, “I want everything with you” on Peyton. Unfortunately for Luke, Peyton didn’t find it as swoon-worthy as the rest of us. She gets scared by the thought of a big commitment and walks out. But, never fear, Peyton would later repeat the line back to Luke during another sensual moment, bringing everything full circle.

Rather than some tawdry hook up when they barely even knew each other, they share this profound and meaningful moment together when they are really in love.

This isn’t one of their best moments, but it is certainly an important one. After winning his first state championship as coach, Lucas flies to LA to visit Peyton and propose. Though what he gets is not exactly the romantic rendezvous he was expecting. Peyton tells him that she is not ready to get married and the two get into a huge fight and break up instead. It is devastating to watch especially since we only got such a short time to see them finally being happy together before we get hit with this break up.
#4: Lucas’ Final Proposal

Lucas's first proposal was not exactly romantic, seeing that Peyton said no and all. And the second was a phone call from the airport. Not exactly smooth. During their short but grand, and ultimately failed adventure to elope in Vegas, which included jumping on the bed, an Elvis impersonator, and a mirror on their hotel room ceiling, Luke did ask again more officially. But even though they are technically already engaged at this point, we have to give credit to the final proposal for the moment where Luke presents Peyton with a ring at the lake where they first met. It is the perfect spot for them to start another new beginning together.

As Peyton often puts it, Lucas is always saving her. And this time he literally saves her life. During the school shooting, Lucas runs back into the school when he realizes that Peyton didn't make it out of the building. He sits with her in the library for as long as he can, and risks his life carrying her out of the school when it seems like time is running out for her. While they are trapped in the library, Peyton tells Lucas that she loves him, and kisses him, thinking she is close to death. It is an intense and loaded moment for the both of them that ends up moving their relationship forward.

The moment that “One Tree Hill” fans have been waiting for for over three seasons finally arrives when Lucas walks across the court, and admits what we all already knew to be true.
