The debut single from her EP of the same name, “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying” was Pennsylvania native Sabrina Carpenter’s first foray into the world of pop music. The Disney starlet followed up that first release with two well charting full-length albums, but did you know she owes at least some of her success to Meghan Trainor? Trainor wrote the song in 2012 with Al Anderson and Chris Gelbuda, and even performed it at a songwriting expo later that year! However, just one year later it made its way to Carpenter and the rest, as they say, is history!

Coming off their ninth album, “I Like the Sound of That” was seen as a return to form for Rascal Flatts. The track reached #1 on the US Country Airplay Chart, eventually making it’s way to #52 on the Billboard Hot 100. Alas none of this would have happened if it weren’t for the lovely Massachusetts native Meghan Trainor, and her unique songwriting abilities! Trainor penned the track in 2015 with help from country singers Jesse Frasure and Shay Mooney. An upbeat tune with a solid hook, the song fit Rascal Flatts perfectly.

Trainor and Derulo are well versed in the art of producing ultra catchy tracks that make you want to get up and dance. So it should come as no surprise that their collaboration on “Painkiller”, a track off of Derulo’s forth album, was equally on point. Trainor’s lyrics flow beautifully from both, creating a symbiotic relationship between the two singers that makes the song incredibly addictive. While it’s less surprising to see Trainor’s name in the songwriting credits given she's featured on the track, her contribution is nevertheless deserving of some praise!
#2: “Sledgehammer” (2014) Fifth Harmony
A critical and commercial success, “Sledgehammer” was a Certified Platinum single for Fifth Harmony. Included on their 2015 debut album, “Reflection”, the EDM track was penned by Trainor with Jonas Jeberg and Sean Douglas. The collaboration proved fruitful to all involved, as the song ultimately saw the group enjoy their first taste of Top 40 success. Bursting with energy, the song was influenced by 80’s pop and new wave music and is complemented wonderfully by Trainor’s lyrics and background vocals.
