“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” has been a critical darling since it first aired. The first season holds a 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes while the second season has the honor of a much-coveted 100 percent rating. Despite glowing reviews, the show gets extremely low viewership numbers. In fact, as of 2017 it is considered the lowest rated show on broadcast television. One writer at Vox even claims that “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” may be the lowest rated show of all time to actually be renewed for a new season. What’s keeping it alive in this ratings obsessed world? Show creator Rachel Bloom admits that many of the storylines on her show parallel situations she has dealt with in real life. Her husband is Dan Gregor, who has written for the show and actually made an appearance in the first season.
