He is the estranged brother of Scott Summers, otherwise known as Cyclops, and is capable of producing a devastating beam of plasma energy from his chest. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, his chaotic life began when he was still a young boy. At that time, his family was flying back from a vacation, when they came under attack by a scout ship of the intergalactic Shi'ar Empire. With the plane on fire, the brothers were pushed out with the only available parachute. Landing without injury, Alex was sent to an orphanage and was adopted, while his brother slipped into a coma.
