The guys at Venture Hacks just launched Recommended.
I asked Nivi about the service and in typical elevator pitch fashion, he replied “it’s match.com for investors and entrepreneurs”.
In some ways, I presume, it’s like RaiseCapital.com (disclosure: Raise Capital was an advertiser on our sites last year), too. The site is an offshoot of their useful Venture Hacks blog and the service is reminiscent of Twitter meets LinkedIn…
While I am not sure if we need one more social network to join or profile to create… the financing matchmaking process remains full of friction and inefficiency… so this might be interesting, especially given the traction and name the group has amongst investor and entrepreneurs.
Off the top of my mind, it would be useful if I could have simply imported my Linked In profile, but fat chance that was going to happen. Nothing closes up open standards and kills data portability talk like good old fashioned greed.
Here’s my profile, check it out and let me know what you think.
Also, check out my previous interview with the VH guys here.
Incidentally, last year, I thought of replicating our StreetMojo.com application to create a matching mechanism in this space, but it’s already crowded and lord knows I have enough on my plate… so I passed on the idea. StreetMojo.com currently connects consumers looking for free stuff with marketers offering free prizes, sweepstakes, contests and promotions (if you are reading this and want to use the underlying application to recreate something, drop me a line at ash@mojosupreme.com). We technically have a classifieds and bookmarking mechanism built, too…
