10 Influencer Meltdowns Caught on Camera

Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re looking at infamous moments where popular social media influencers had an emotional outburst on camera for one reason or another.

Spamming Rifts

Ninja
A player taking advantage of annoying mechanics to escape in a battle royale video game is common. Frustrating, but common – and also useful when the roles are reversed. In this 2022 clip, popular gamer Ninja lost it while playing “Fortnite Battle Royale.” Just as he was laying the smackdown on someone, they used a rift in the sky, sparing themselves but infuriating Ninja. After some eerie silence, he launched into a speech about players spamming this method. Ninja then quit the Twitch stream and announced he would take a break from playing, something he later confirmed on social media. This hiatus lasted a week before Ninja made his triumphant return to the platform.

Banned & Sad

Jessy Taylor
Influencers, like celebrities, sometimes get a bad rap for being out of touch. Well, Jessy Taylor did that stereotype no favors. Through her YouTube channel, she released a since-deleted video telling people to stop reporting her Instagram. The tearful Taylor alleged that trolls had caused her account, which had over 100,000 followers at the time, to be deleted from the platform. She stated this was how she earned a living, and that she wasn’t cut out for a 9-5 job. Taylor later claimed she called the police over the matter, telling them her situation was like murder, which didn’t go down well with anyone. Eventually, Taylor’s Instagram was reinstated, which she attributes to the intense media reaction.

“What the Muffin?”

GeorgeNotFound
In the last couple of years, GeorgeNotFound has exploded in popularity due to his “Minecraft” content. He’s teamed up with other streamers like Dream and Sapnap on the server Dream SMP, where creators indulge in roleplaying on the sandbox game. In 2021, the crew streamed a basketball tournament in “Minecraft.” And for a while, all was fine. But then…not so much. George exploded in rage as Callahan’s play, which he thought should be called off, wasn’t. Rather different from his usual laid-back persona, part of this uncharacteristic shouty and expletive-filled rant, included a rather mild “What the muffin?”, which appears to have delighted his fans and gained him new ones along the way.

Dissing DJs

Madeline Argy
This has to be satire right? Either way, real DJs had a field day with this one. After Madeline Argy posted a video to TikTok of herself in tears, questioning what DJs’ mixing boards are for and convinced that they remix songs ahead of time, a number of artists responded. Some simply took to remixing the video live and letting that speak for itself. Others went with a more practical approach and explained their job more diplomatically, in case Argy was actually curious and not just taking shots at the profession or seeking engagement. We all know which response we preferred.

The Mystery of the Vanishing Likes

Mikaela Testa
In 2019, Instagram announced plans to remove displaying the number of “likes” a post got. The intention was to reduce the negative effects on self esteem from the number of hearts one receives, and instead have users focus on the content they post. This went down like a lead balloon for influencer Mikaela Testa. She said that the platform wasn’t doing this to protect mental health but to control engagement, and claimed she and other businesses were suffering from the ban. After people were less than sympathetic to the video she posted stating she would be taking a break from socials, Testa clarified that her emotional reaction was about the hurtful messages she had received for her opinion on the matter, not the platform removing likes.

Cheap Fans

KiraChats
Some streamers hold the opinion that simply watching them isn’t enough. And that was the case for KiraChats in 2020. Known at the time as BadBunny, KiraChats went viral for her stream after she slated fans for not subscribing to her Twitch channel for $5 a month. She went on to say that if viewers have hours of free time to watch her, they should have $5 to support her financially. This isn’t the first time the streamer has ranted about this incident. The year prior, she was called out after describing her fans as “cheap” and “leeching” her free entertainment. Yikes.

Snake Bite

IShowSpeed
When IShowSpeed set off to India to make some content, it didn’t go as well as he was probably hoping. Upon arriving at the Orangutan esports facility, he met an iguana and a snake. Everything seemed all fine and dandy with the iguana at first, but after Speed let it onto his shoulder, things took a turn. Mid-freak out, it appears the snake lunged to bite the creator and he had yet another loud outburst, screaming and pulling his pants down…for some reason. Later, he returned to meet the snake again. If you’re thinking that was a bad idea, you’d be right. It went badly once more as the reptile went for his face this time. No one really knows whether these reactions were genuine or not.

“Oh My God”

Shane Dawson
If there was a world record for repeatedly uttering the words “oh my god” in a set amount of time, Shane Dawson’s stream in 2020 would be in the running. At the time, Tati Westbrook was feuding with James Charles and the former released a video accusing Dawson and Jeffree Star of encouraging her to air the dirty laundry. Dawson, for some reason, decided to livestream his reaction to the content via Instagram. On top of his frustration and muttering the three magic words over and over again, he accused Westbook of being manipulative and lying about her experience. It was Dawson’s now-husband Ryland Adams who did damage control by persuading him to stop streaming.

Scary Pronouns

HeelVsBabyface
It’s strange the things some people get really, really upset about. In 2023, the video game “Starfield” had its beta released. In it, you can create a custom character, and to make it more inclusive, you can select your preferred pronouns. This sounds nice…unless you’re an influencer like HeelVsBabyface, also known as Az. He went on a sweary and shouty rant filled with so much over-the-top anger about this one aspect, claiming that including pronouns ruined the immersion of the space-venturing RPG. Many folks on social media retaliated by mocking him and other influencers for their intense reactions.

Instagram Famous

Morgan Osman
Sometimes, social media can give people an inflated sense of self. In 2023, a video went viral that featured Morgan Osman arguing with another passenger on a plane. Osman later claimed the disagreement began when she was accused of sitting in someone else’s seat, which she denied. It’s not exactly clear who initiated what, but Osman certainly escalated things. After grabbing her luggage to make her way off the plane, she noticed that she was being recorded and had quite the response to dish out. Osman, who also appeared in two episodes of the reality show “Bad Girls Club,” claimed she left the plane to avoid getting violent, but double-downed by referring to everyone who was filming her as “bums.”
