Based on an Instagram post by THE Hannah Baker herself, it seems that she may not appear in the new season. But in the finale episode, Jessica and Justin share an intimate moment at the school dance. They just can’t seem to stay away from each other. Inevitably, Alex will eventually find out their sordid affair. Though we’ll have to wait and see exactly what will happen, things are certainly bound to get a lot worse before they get better.

Chloe or Jessica or Hannah’s mother are pretty solid candidates. Maybe it’s even a new victim who was defending herself. Or perhaps it was even a conspiracy, a la an Agatha Christie novel.
