It Cleans Hard Floors
Being a mop, it’s no surprise that this robot is designed to clean hard floors, like tiles, stone and hardwood. But just to be clear, it is not intended to be used on carpets or rugs - this is not a carpet cleaner, it is exclusively a mop. This mop cleans via a vibrating cleaning pad, with three different types included in the box — wet, damp and dry — so you can finesse your mopping game as you go. The built-in water reservoir squirts water on the floor as you mop to help remove stubborn marks and stains - and you can add a cleaning solution too for a bit of extra elbow grease.
It Automatically Selects the Correct Cleaning Mode
As mentioned, the Braava Jet 240 comes with three different types of cleaning pads. But don’t be intimidated by the idea of selecting the correct, or incorrect cleaning mode - because the mop will choose for you. Depending on the type of cleaning pad you install, the mop will automatically recognise which one you’ve chosen, and tailor the cleaning method to suit it. So, if you slot in a wet cleaning pad, the machine will release more water and activate the vibrating head. However, if you fit a dry cleaning head, it will avoid releasing any water or vibrating, and instead focus on smooth passes.
It Features a Removable, Rechargeable Battery
Some robot mops feature batteries that are unremovable from the mop itself. This usually means that the entire unit has to be connected to a bulky docking station for it to charge. That’s not the case with the Braava Jet 240, however, as its battery is removable, allowing you to simply remove the battery, charge it via its included charging cable, and then reinsert it when ready. On a full charge, you’re looking at up to around 3 hours of use.
You Can Control It Via Your Phone
This is where the robot aspect of this mop really comes into its own. You can control a variety of its different features via a bluetooth-connected app. You can check the cleaning pad status, order replacement cleaning pads remotely and you can even toggle the amount of water your mop dispenses during wet cleaning modes. This variable water setting is a great flexible feature to have, especially if you’re planning on cleaning something that you don't want to get too wet, like laminate floor.
You Can Set Up Virtual Walls
Some people might be apprehensive about where the Braava Jet 240 might end up rolling off to when in use - especially if you have rugs, carpeted areas or steps in your home. Well, you’ll be glad to hear that there’s a virtual wall setting that allows you to tell the mop where not to go. Let’s say you want your mop to stick to one room at a time. All you need to do is place the mop where you want it to stop, hold the power button, and a virtual wall will be created. Handy, right? So, are you thinking about buying the iRobot Braava Jet 240 mop? If so, which room are you going to clean first? Stay tuned to GetMojo for the most complete video product reviews!
