7 Things You Should Know About Duke Nukem Forever
The Duke is back! Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’ll explore everything you should know about Duke Nukem Forever.
Forever is the long-awaited sequel to 1996’s Duke Nukem 3D. With its production having started all the way back in 1997, this highly anticipated game has been delayed, cancelled and restarted countless times. Despite its incredibly bumpy road to retail, Gearbox Software has finally delivered the mature-rated adventure, after taking over production from the original developer 3D Realms.
As the game begins, you’ll be reunited with the badass hero from the 90s. As it turns out, he’s been spending his time living like a legend, complete with women, money and his own video game. However, during his latest interview centered on how he saved the world, the aliens make a shocking return. Once again launching a full-scale invasion, their goal is to abduct and breed with Earth’s woman, especially the hot ones, to create a super army.
Like its predecessor, Duke Nukem Forever is a first person shooter. Despite development having started two decades ago, it incorporates all of the gameplay elements found in modern games. These include regenerating health, sprinting, driving, and dual wielding your weapons.
Despite these changes, Duke’s renowned interaction with the environments continues to play a prominent and amusing roll in the adventure. This means that you can occupy yourself between battles by interacting with a variety of women you come across, as well as everyday items, including urinals, sinks and whiteboards.
Housing some of the most steadfast and interesting arsenals of all time, players will giggle with joy as they defy reality by kicking while running with Duke’s might foot, fire off his golden pistol, snipe with the “Railgun”, drop mines, throw pipe bombs, and blast the “Shrink Ray.” Not only will they be able to stomp on miniaturized enemies, but use the “Freezethrower” which allows you to shatter them to pieces. Of course, staples like the “shotgun” and “Ripper” chaingun will also be selectable to help you clear out incoming pigs!
Of course, Duke also makes use of insanely fun tools. These include a jetpack and Holoduke. This hilarious item makes you invisible; all while a holographic double stands there firing off blanks and spouting insults about the opponents’ mama.
Thankfully, as both a relic and modern adventure, Forever pays tribute to the old-school twitch action death-matches of yesteryear.
Containing four different multiplayer modes, gamers can fight in a free for all called “Dukematch” or battle together in “Team Dukematch.” Forever also features a king of the hill mode called “Hail to the King”, and an outrageous take on capture the flag mode called “Capture the Babe.” In this mode, you sling the other team’s schoolgirl outfit-wearing babe over your shoulder and have to bring her back to your checkpoint. Of course, you’ll have to spank her to keep her from misbehaving and covering your eyes.
Number 6: Multiplayer Maps:
With a special emphasis on creating colorful and highly amusing multiplayer maps, players can dish it out in several inventive different levels.
These levels include fighting each other at “Hoover Damned”, a series of cordoned off streets outside a hydroelectric plant, and “Highway Noon”, which resembles the Grand Canyon.
However, the most radical of the bunch is known as “Duke Burger, a section from the single player campaign, in which everyone is shrunk and must navigate a fast food kitchen.
Incorporating an achievement system, Duke will level up with his many kills, and by completing a variety of goals within the adventure. These challenges include tasks that are as simple as finding a hidden weapon.
Accomplishing these goals will help earn you new items to customize your character. You will do so by spending points in the “My Digs” area of the game.
As a result, you can fully customize your game profile, and add things such as facial hair or outfits, within Duke’s swanky Las Vegas penthouse.
Furthermore, players can alter the rules and mechanics of the multiplayer mode through the game’s many “Mutator” options. These include playing with infinite Ammo, heavy weapons or removing firearms all together.
Available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, Duke Nukem Forever will please older gamers with its thrilling adult content, over the top violence, outrageous machismo and in your face humor. The king is finally here to deliver the goods.
