7 Things You Should Know About StarCraft 2

Get ready to once again wage war in the far corners of the Milky Way. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’re exploring the 7 Things you should know about StarCraft 2.

Number 1: The Wait Is Over

Fans of the iconic Real-time-strategy franchise have been clamoring for a return to the universe of StarCraft since 1998. Now their prayers have finally been answered as the long-awaited sequel arrives in not one, but three massive installments. Centered on the main StarCraft 2 package “Wings of Liberty”, its two expansion packs “Heart of The Swarm” and “Legacy of The Void” will ensure that gamers will have to clear their schedule for the foreseeable future.

Number 2: The Factions

Set in the 26th century in a distant part of the Milky Way Galaxy, the game centers on the ongoing struggle of the exiled humans from Earth, called the Terrans. It also focuses on the vantage–point of psionic-powered Protoss aliens, and the powerful insectoid species known as the Zerg.

Number 3: The Plot

At the conclusion of the last expansion entry “Brood War” in 1998, the Zerg forces became the dominant faction in the quadrant. Having all-but defeated the Terrans and the Protoss, they inexplicably retreated. However, following a mysterious four-year absence, their swarm has suddenly re-emerged and begun to a wage a final war.

As a result, Jim Raynor must lead a mercenary group of humans to save the remaining pockets of humanity from total annihilation.

Number 4: Gameplay And Campaigns

According to Blizzard Entertainment, StarCraft 2 has been designed to be the ultimate competitive real-time strategy game. Not only will it build on what made the first title so popular, but will focus more on the multiplayer aspect.

And in a first for Blizzard, all three retail packages will feature non-linear campaigns. In “Wings of Liberty” you may take on whatever jobs you see fit in order to earn funds to buy additional units and upgrades to help you make it through the game’s 30 missions.

In the Zerg expansion, “Heart of The Swarm”, you play using RPG elements, while the Protoss Campaign “Legacy of the Void” follows their quest to acquire units and technology from their remaining tribes.

Number 5: Cinematics

Starcraft 2 continues to push the use of epic cinematics to both advance the plot and draw in the player to the drama. In fact, the overall quality of the graphics of the actual game are so advanced that the cut scenes has been created from actual the gameplay engine and will thrill players as they progress through the game.

Number 6: Combat Units

StarCraft 2 features about the same number of combat units as the first game. And while many classic units return, they compliment the new additions by featuring new upgrades, abilities and designs.

Regardless of whether a unit is new or old, they will be encouraged to engage in a much more dynamic interaction with the game’s physical environment.

Number 7: Galaxy Editor

Replacing the old StarEdit feature from the original, gamers will now be able to create custom maps and mods. With the ability to purchase new maps from the online store, and incorporate vintage elements from the 1998 classic, StarCraft 2 has plenty of room to please gamers for a very long time to come.

Conclusion

Proving to computer players that they’re still valued, this long-awaited sequel not only delivers a premium gaming experience, but raises the benchmarks for all other RTS titles to come.
