Number 1: The Setting

Fans of the franchise have already experienced the Transformers’ fight for the fate of the Earth numerous times. But in a first for the video games series, the war takes place entirely on their home planet of Cybertron.

Number 2: The Plot

As a prequel, you will experience the heart of the original robotic war. As such, you will have to deal with the death of the original Autobot leader Zeta Prime, and take on the role of his inexperienced replacement Optimus. Once a soldier, he has been forced to lead a desperate bid to prevent the Megatron, and his Decepticons, from finding the legendary Dark Energon power-source.

Number 3: The Campaigns

At the onset of the game, gamers will be able to choose to play either heroic Autobots or the evil Decepticons. Unlike previous Transformers titles, the campaigns are completely different, and are instantly selectable. In fact, the Decepticon campaign takes place prior to the events of the Autobot missions, and gamers will be encouraged to experience both.

However, the portable version of the game will be released in two different retail packages, one for the Autobot campaign, and the other for the Decepticons.

Number 4: Character Designs

While the Transformers franchise has been re-invented several times, this incarnation re-imagines the characters as they appeared in the classic 80s cartoon series. The difference is that they will be given a more realistic and mature aesthetic based exclusively on Cybertronian technology.

Number 5: Gameplay

Unlike previous Transformers games High moon Studios has placed a special emphasis on gameplay and level design. Previous studios have sought to capitalize on transformations at the expense of everything else, but here it’s the opposite. In fact, only Transformers that add to the overall gameplay layout and design have been included in the campaign.

This means that jets and other flying Transformers will have their own dedicated levels, as not to interfere with the flow of ground-based missions.

Number 6: Transformations

Rather then incorporate a cover system like other shooters, The War for Cybertron takes full advantage of robot transformations and vehicle modes. In fact, each character will have their own unique flanking, maneuvering and weapons abilities that distinguish them on the battlefield.

Number 7: Co-Op

The war will be extra exciting due to the inclusion of 3-player drop in Co-Op. Not only can you play alone, but two of your friends can join your side in the battlefield at any time.
