7 Things You Should Know Battlefield 3

It’s one of the biggest and most intense FPS shooters ever created! Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’ll be filling you in on everything you should know about Battlefield 3.

Number 1: The Campaign

While Battlefield is best known for its multiplayer offerings, Battlefield 3 will feature both a single-player and cooperative campaign. Keeping the two distinct from one another, coop features its own narrative that ties into the main story. Complete with a full range of gameplay that the series is known for, both campaigns feature the use of land and air vehicles, as well as tight urban warfare.

Number 2: The Plot

Set in the year 2014, players take on the role of US Marine Corps soldiers as they are deployed near the Iraq-Iran border. There, you are tasked with combating the PLR, otherwise known as The People’s Liberation and Resistance. Working in a five-man squad, you are tasked with locating, finding and safely returning a US team that was investigating a possible chemical weapons site, before their location was taken control of by hostile forces. However, things quickly escalate as a massive earthquake erupts from Iran, and an attack on New York City is launched.

Number 3: The Characters and Environments

Throughout the single player campaign you take on the role of various characters. These begin with Staff Sergeant Henry Blackburn, a member of the United States Marine Corps.

You later come to inhabit other troops, such as Corporal Jonathan Miller, a tank operator taking part in operations against the PLR, and Russian Special Forces operator Dmitri Mayakovsky.

With a worldwide conflict across land, sea and air, players will not only be given the chance to play several characters, but battle across the globe. These spectacular locations include New York, Rome, Paris and Tehran.

Number 4: Online Multiplayer

As PC gamers have come to expect, they will have access to full 64-player warfare. However, due to technical limitations, console owners will be given a more modest battlefield made up of 24 players.

Furthermore, health regeneration is now delayed by 20 seconds before it kicks in, spurring a need to find cover, while players can now take aim from the ground, and behind objects.

Number 5: Multiplayer Modes

Among the game modes are Conquest, which involves battling for flags and bases. You can also play in Rush, which directs you to destroy enemy targets, Squad Rush which breaks the gameplay into multiple teams, Team Deathmatch and Squad Deathmatch.

A mix of old and new gameplay modes, Battlefield 3 even allows players to toggle a special Hardcore mode which removes the heads up display, raises bullet damage and eliminates the use of attack vehicles.

Number 6: Multiplayer Classes

Back is the popular loadout system that the original Battlefield games made so popular.

This time the process has been streamlined to incorporate four balanced choices, each with exclusive skills and gear. These include the Assault class, which has been combined with the attributes of a medic for the first time in the series. This enables the assault load out to revive teammates with med kits and deregulators.

Players can also select the Engineer, who carries a submachine gun and anti-vehicle weapons, in addition to the ability to unlock UAV and mortar strikes.

The third class is Support, which packs light machine guns and ability to throw ammo packs to resupply teammates.

And finally Recon is equipped with a Sniper rifle. However, breathing and rifle sway have been added to keep the gameplay balanced. These soldiers can also drop radio beacons, which create new spawn points for reinforcements, as well as use special recon gadgets.

Number 7: The Graphics

With its lead platform being the PC, Battlefield 3 delivers the best environmental and graphical advancements ever seen in the franchise. However, the HD consoles similarly benefit from its all-new Frostbite 2.0 engine, pushing their specs to the limit with its realistic physics, lighting, destructible environments, improved textures and real-time weather system.

Conclusion:

Created by DICE and EA, this is the eleventh installment of the Battlefield franchise and easily features the greatest production values and largest scale ever seen in a real world inspired war game.
