Assassin’s Creed 3: Everything You Should Know
It’s time for a revolution! Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be exploring everything you should know about Assassin’s Creed III.
Developed Ubisoft Montreal, this is the fifth installment in the popular franchise. A major change from previous outings, this sequel does not feature former protagonists Altair or Ezio.
Instead, players take on the role of Connor Kenway. As before, they are technically doing this as present day Desmond Miles, who uses the Animus device to relive memories coded in his DNA. His goal is to find the clues needed to prevent an apocalypse at the end of the year 2012.
Conner Kenway is a half-Native American and half-British assassin living in Colonial America during late eighteenth century. This assassin fights to investigate the connection between the long-running war between the Assassins and the Templars and the American Revolutionary War, between the years 1753 to 1783.
Set in the northeastern part of America, players traverse New York, Boston and the frontier. This includes a vast stretch of wilderness, including Connor’s Mohawk village and several settlements of the time period. Players also have the freedom to explore the entire Eastern seaboard, all way down to the Caribbean seas, by captaining a ship. This lends itself to several thrilling naval battles.
As you can see, the graphics have been overhauled and improved with the new Anvil Next engine. This means that the Frontier map size alone is 1.5 times bigger than Rome from Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and features more refined details, a day-night cycle and shifting seasons.
The seasons will not just serve as a change of scenery, but effect character movements, and the way you and your enemies interact with the world. For example, soldiers will have difficulty navigating the snow during the winter.
This game environment is also the first in the series to include wild animals, allowing you to hunt and sell the resources they provide you with. Interestingly, the value of the wares is determined by how easily you managed to take the animal down.
In terms of gameplay, Connor sports new attack moves. These include using enemies as human shields and dual wielding. This has made the protagonist a much more offensive fighter. Connor also makes use of a bow and arrow, and can propel himself into battle by performing all new air assassination moves.
Connor is also a much more fluid moving character, as he can jump over obstacles and use nearby objects to move around unnoticed.
Like previous games in the franchise, this game takes its authenticity from including real life historical figures. These include the likes of George Washington, General Charles Lee and Benjamin Franklin.
AC3 also brings back its multiplayer offerings and includes several brand new multiplayer modes to keep things fresh. These include its main ‘Elimination mode’, which will have you second-guessing who the secret killer is. It also includes the all-new Domination mode, which is 4 on 4 capture and defend gameplay, and Wolf Pack, which has you and a team take down a group of targets while fighting the clock.
The most ambitious installment in the franchise, AC3 aims to wrap up the trilogy, while improving upon everything that has come before. It is available for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and Windows PC.
