Grand Theft Auto has one of the biggest modding communities out there! For this video, we're taking a look at GTA mods you absolutely need to install on your PC! 20 Best GTA PC Mods

Ty Richardson

Welcome to MojoPlays, and today, we’re taking a look at GTA mods you absolutely need to install on your PC!

Which GTA mod is your favorite? Did it make the list? Let us know down in the comments! And of course, install mods at your own risk.

Real California Architecture

We all know that Los Santos is supposed to be a sprawling imitation of life in California, but it could use a few extra buildings and environments to make it feel more like the real world’s Los Angeles. Well, if you’re feeling that way you could install the Real California Architecture mod. Basically, Los Santos will be filled with real-world California locations from the Hollywood sign and interstates to the Santa Monica police station and Beverly Hills Hotel. Perfect to give GTA just a bit more realism!

The Red House

No, this mod isn’t for a simple red house. Think of it more like a small campaign expansion. The Red House adds in more than twenty new missions as well as a new Heist and the ability to hire bodyguards. If you truly want your criminal empire to excel, you might want to consider the bodyguards. You’ll also be given new missions that will require more stealth than GTA’s typical missions where you go in guns blazing.

Ped Riot/Chaos Mode

Sometimes, it can feel like Los Santos is totally mundane. Most of your inconveniences will be traffic jams or the occasional jaywalker. Why not add a bit of excitement with this mod? Chaos Mode reprograms NPCs to start attacking everyone and everything. Can you make it to the next story mission without your car exploding or worse, you dying to a stray grenade?

SUPERHOT Mod

“Superhot” was a fun little indie game where you could experience intense gunfights in super slow-mo. If only more games had this sort of gimmick. For GTA V, you can install this mod where everything in the world moves, but only when you move (just like in “Superhot”!). While there are a couple of known bugs, the mod is a blast to toy around with and almost forces you to be more strategic with your actions.

Dragon Tales Pack

We won’t lie, this one isn’t as focused on gameplay as the other GTA V mods, but it was too hilariously jarring to leave off. The Dragon Tales Pack mod does not turn your character into a dragon, but rather allows you to feel like your younger self. All loading screens are replaced with images from the show, and all of the music is replaced with songs from the show. Hey, some of us need a good Dragon Tune while we’re in the middle of a bank heist, alright?

Prison Mod

Considering all of the times we’ve been caught by the cops, we have to wonder why Rockstar has never shown what happens to our characters after being arrested. C’mon, isn’t it odd that we just lose some cash and wake up either outside of a hospital or police station? Well, the Prison Mod fills the gap. You actually do wind up going to jail and can live out some of your hard time. Or you can choose to meet your bail or attempt an escape.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7

In case you forgot about this embarrassment of a phone, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 gained negative attention shortly after its launch in 2016 as users quickly reported their devices heating up excessively. Some went so far as to spontaneously combust! Well, there is some use for this dysfunctional “phablet” in GTA V thanks to this mod. You can throw Note 7’s in place of sticky bombs and watch others explode from the phone’s horrible battery!

Psychokinesis

Now, fair warning - this is still a work in progress. So, if you choose to install this and check it out for yourself, do consider that it may not work flawlessly. Psychokinesis is exactly what it sounds like, though - you can wield all sorts of mental powers. You can push objects, crush people and vehicles, freeze time, even set things on fire! You are the ultimate life form!

The Agency

The premise of this mod is simple: the Agency is looking for someone to do their dirty work and take down those who have not pleased the powers that be. Essentially, you have a whole new range of assassination missions at your disposal! Just be aware that the stock market mechanic of the game’s real assassination missions have no functionality with this mod. But if being a cunning sneak was the best part of your GTA V experience, well, this one’s for you.

No Water + Tsunami + Atlantis Mod

We’ve all wondered what a GTA game would look like if set in more of a fantasy setting. Well, the closest we may get is this. This mod completely floods all of Los Santos and adds in sea life as well as settings to affect the water levels. You can even make it completely dry and explore the mythical lost city of Atlantis! The city is quite literally your oyster.

Carmageddon V

Assuming you were around when GTA IV was getting what few mods were out in the wild, you know what to expect here. Carmageddon is one of the most famous GTA mods out there thanks to its chaotic and explosive nature. Install this, and every car will suddenly lose control the second you make a gentle push on the gas. Needless to say, it will be next to impossible getting to the next mission with your car in one piece.

Dragons V

Don’t worry, this isn’t another attempt at weaseling more “Dragon Tales” into your second life. This mod actually does what it sounds like it does. You can finally fly around Los Santos on your very own dragon like the badass you are! Okay, maybe not, but seeing dragons flying around a real-world city? Kind of gives us some “Reign of Fire” vibes. Not a great movie by any stretch of the imagination, but we’d give this mod a go for the chaos.

Vehicle Cannon

Speaking of adding more chaos into our GTA V copy, the vehicle cannon does exactly what the name implies. Though it looks like any other weapon you would find in the game, one pull of the trigger will launch any one of the many vehicles you can stumble upon. Basically, there is nothing that can stand in your way when there are constant explosions happening a few feet away. Time to raise that Wanted level! Six stars, here we come!

Spider-Man V

Now, there are plenty of mods out there that can turn you into a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Many of them are simple skin mods, but with this one, you get the whole package. Yes, the WHOLE package! Web-swinging, web-shooting, and even different suit modes and other powers! Time to go enforce some vigilante justice the only way we know how.

Poke Ball

Suppose you wanted to be the very best like no one ever was. Well, catching them would be a real test, but to train them would be your cause. You’d have to travel across Los Santos, searching far and wide. Teach pedestrians to understand the power that’s inside. Yes, you’re not catching pocket monsters in this mod, but pocket people. Catch and train pedestrians to fight others in an effort to build your team and become the best Trainer in the Los Santos region!

Planes Hails

We’ve already given you plenty of suggestions for mods that add more chaos to your game. What else could there possibly be? Well, why not have them all dropping from the sky like dead flies? Within a certain radius, this mod will cause planes to fall around you. As a bonus, a whole new survival mode was added in which you can try to avoid waves of planes or outlast a time limit.

Alien Invasion War

Among the mods that breathe new life into Los Santos in between missions, this was our favorite! Alien Invasion War makes the campaign way more arduous to progress through. While you’re busy committing heists, Los Santos P.D. will be busy fighting off an alien invasion. The army gets involved as well, so be prepared for tanks and choppers to get thrown into the mix.

GTA RPG

Though GTA does boast some light role-playing elements, it isn’t enough to call it an RPG. This mod, on the other hand, changes that! It throws in all the usual features you’d expect from your typical RPG - dialogue trees, skill trees, mods for cars, the arbitrary minigames, and a ton more. Basically, you have a whole new game to experience.

Grand Theft Space

Space. It is often described as the final frontier, but we have one entry after this, so it's far from the final frontier for GTA. But we’ve desperately needed some crazy space missions in this franchise. With this mod, you can live out that dream and explore the depths of our own Solar System. No missions are included, but if you have some modding experience, the modders behind this do encourage you to integrate your own scripts and mods into it.

Chaos Mod V

This is the ultimate GTA mod! This is not to be confused with Carmageddon or the Chaos Mode mods. Chaos Mod V is more anarchist than either of those could ever be! When installed, this mod will be on a thirty-second timer, triggering one of more than three hundred effects every half-minute. And if that isn’t enough Hell for you to deal with, you can customize the intervals yourself to make effects less or more frequent. Some effects are instant, some are lingering, some are explosive, some are harmless - you never know what you’re gonna get! Have fun!
