He may be Mr. White in the classroom, but on the street he’s “Heisenberg.” Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be exploring Breaking Bad.

Please be advised: this video contains mild spoilers from the earlier seasons of the show.

This American drama series was created and produced by former “X-Files” writer Vince Gilligan for AMC, and it debuted in January 2008. Since its premiere, it has been hailed by some critics as the best television drama of all time, and each new season garnered greater praise than the one that came before. Similar honors have been heaped on the show’s cast, in the form of numerous awards and nominations – including Emmys for both Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.

“Breaking Bad” is centered on the character of Walter H. White, who is an outrageously overqualified chemistry teacher trying to make ends meet in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Walter moonlights washing cars, before he is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.

But that’s when the fun starts: he keeps his affliction a secret, but struggles to provide for his pregnant wife Skyler and their teenage son Walter Jr., who suffers from cerebral palsy. Despite the fact he never smoked, the elder Walter White is given one year to live and things seem hopeless.

However, while watching the news, Walter discovers a risky way to make the cash he needs to provide for his loved ones after he’s gone. Pretty soon, he’s on a tag along with his DEA brother-in-law Hank on a meth lab bust as a way to learn the trade.

Walter recognizes one of the fleeing dealers as a former student of his who failed his chemistry class. He forces Jesse Pinkman, who is both a slacker and an addict, to partner with him and get him into the business.

Mr. White then disappears to cook the purest and most desirable form of meth ever made, but he faces a variety of obstacles: everything from rival drug dealers, dead bodies, a concerned wife, his newborn child, his brother-in-law the DEA, cancer therapy, ambition, money laundering, Jesse’s deepening addiction, and a mountain of lies.

With its character-driven storylines, “Breaking Bad” has made a name for itself with an incredible cast and a captivating dynamic between its lead stars. Cranston’s Walter White and Paul’s Jesse Pinkman are two entirely opposite characters who slowly change places: as one becomes more hardened, the other softens by having to deal with the consequences of living on the edge. Of course, over its multiple season run, events get more than a little complicated…

“Breaking Bad” has already won the awards and the praise, so maybe it’s time you check out this incredibly entertaining series that will leave you in a state of disbelief and questioning the limits of morality.
