Disney Studios has produced some of the most cherished animated films of all time. However, they turned away from traditional 2-D animation in 2004 following several major box office flops that were criticized for emphasizing technical eye candy, rather than substance. As a result, the fate of traditional animation seemed to be sealed as Disney closed its studio and produced completely computer generated films.
