Top 10 Things We NEED to See in Jane the Virgin Before It Ends

We’ll be sad to see this telenovela leave our screens. Welcome to MsMojo and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the top 10 things we need to see in “Jane the Virgin” before it ends.

For this list, we’re looking at everything we hope happens in the final season of “Jane the Virgin.” Viewers beware, this video will have tons of spoilers – so if you’re not caught up, look away now.

#10: Sin Rostro Gone for Good

Every time we think she’s gone, she shows up again. International drug lord and all-round bad egg, Sin Rostro has been pulling the strings throughout the show’s duration, with actress Bridget Reagan always reappearing when you least expect her. While the reveal that Rose was Sin Rostro all along in the first season was shocking enough, she went on to kidnap Mateo the day he was born, to attempt to murder Michael on his and Jane’s wedding night, and torment the Solano siblings. She still manages to be a master manipulator even behind bars, so – as good a villain as she is – we hope she’ll finally be put out of action when the show concludes.

#9: Luisa & Rose

Still on the topic of Sin Rostro, her obsession with long-time flame and ex-step-daughter Luisa Alver just won’t die. Every time Luisa thinks she’s escaped from Sin Rostro’s grip, she gets pulled right back in, fooled time and time again by Rose’s many disguises. Rose even resorts to kidnapping Luisa and taking her on a submarine to stop her from getting away. While jailed, Rose tantalizingly offered Rafael important information in exchange for Luisa’s whereabouts. By the end of season 4, we know that she revealed her secrets to Raf, but not if he gave up Luisa in return. Chaotic as these two are, they deserve some kind of resolution.

#8: Narrator Identity Revealed

From the very first episode, the trusty Latin Lover Narrator has held the viewers’ hands throughout the trials and tribulations of the Villanuevas. Always there to remind us of important information and character motivations in a pinch, the narrator quickly became a character in his own right. And it turns out, he is a character in his own right - a character on the show! Series creator Jennie Snyder Urman promised fans that the narrator’s identity will be revealed in the final episode, with most theories pointing to one of the two Mateos – either the spirit of Jane’s grandfather, or a future-version of her son.

#7: Anežka Archuletta Alive

If there’s one thing we know about telenovelas, it’s that evil twins are rarely gone for good. After first being introduced to Petra’s secret twin Anezka, the audience was initially supposed to sympathize with her – until it turned out she was really being manipulated by their mother, Magda, all along. In the mid-season 4 finale, Anezka was murdered, pushed out of a high window and landed– ironically – on her own coffin. With Petra the prime suspect, subsequent episodes were dedicated to her trying to prove her innocence, until Jane Ramos discovered Petra was guilty all along. Anezka’s already faked her death once, but can she pull it off twice?

#6: Rafael Solano’s Real Parents

After a series of complicated plot points involving the Solanos, we finally found out that Rafael was adopted, leaving him stripped of both the Solano fortune and a core tenet of his identity. After a hard journey, Raf remains unable to discover the truth about who his birth parents are, and even says in season four that he no longer cares about knowing. However, finally finding them could give him some much-needed closure, especially since Sin Rostro seems to be in possession of all the facts and stuck in prison, where anyone can visit her.

#5: Alba Villanueva & Jorge Garcia

Jorge may be the first man abuela has loved since the death of Mateo many decades earlier, but they have certainly had their ups and downs. Through disagreements on sex before marriage, a fear of commitment and many rejections, it didn’t seem like they would be able to come together - until they got married at the close of season 4, that is. While Alba maintains it is purely a “platonic, business arrangement” since she just became a US citizen and it was done so that Jorge can go visit his dying mother, there’s certainly still a spark between them. Alba getting a happy ending is something that just has to happen before we close this book!

#4: Jane Villanueva & Rafael Solano

For a long time, the Jane/Michael/Rafael love triangle was at the heart of the show, with viewers, like Jane, never knowing which way to turn. It all seemed pretty clear when Jane and Michael got married, but then came his tragic death, which was the result of complications from his gunshot wound in season two. Out of this blossomed a strong friendship between Raf and Jane, who were still co-parenting Mateo through this trying time. Despite a few diversions, it looked like Jane and Raf were endgame. They were even about to get engaged and buy an apartment together when the season four finale happened. Now, Jane and Raf’s future is up in arms, but we really hope they get some kind of closure.

#3: Xiomara De La Vega’s Cancer

The revelation that Xiomara has breast cancer was a punch in the gut for viewers, especially since we were still reeling from Michael’s death the season before. After she started treatments and debated whether or not to get a mastectomy, we’ve seen her family struggle to deal with the threat of losing her. When we left her at the end of season four, Xo was still battling, but took a backseat to the finale’s other dramas. This leaves the audience none the wiser as to what fate – or the writer’s room – has in store for Jane’s mom, but we hope to see her fight cancer and win.

#2: #JRShotWho?

After fooling us into believing somebody was going to shoot JR, the show’s writers turned the twist on its head and had JR shoot somebody else, instead. Coming to Petra’s aid after Krishna revealed she had taken the fall for Petra’s real blackmailer, JR found Petra staring down the barrel of a gun. The kicker was that Petra recognized the intruder, and JR managed to take the gun and shoot them. We’re dying to know who JR shot, if she killed the attacker, and whether this means Petramos will put their differences aside and get back together.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few Honorable Mentions:

"The Passions of Steve and Brenda"

Jane’s 2nd Novel

#1: Michael Cordero Explained

You can’t talk about “Jane the Virgin” without talking about THAT plot-twist. Easily the biggest twist the show has ever pulled off – and that’s saying something – viewers have been up in arms since the fourth season’s finale trying to work out how Michael could still be alive. Believing he died halfway through season three, and after watching Jane come to terms with his tragic loss, we’re hoping the fifth season premiere will answer this most pressing question. Has Michael been deep undercover? Does he have a secret twin brother? Was he kidnapped and held hostage by Sin Rostro? Is he an imposter in disguise? We better find out sooner rather than later.
