The story behind the song:
The coronavirus has been a disaster for my global video production business. We´re a network of hundreds of video production professionals specialized in business interviews and corporate event videos, and everything has come to a total halt. All of our video projects have been cancelled, which means I am totally... well, stopped!
In the first week of the quarantine, I was super blocked mentally and very depressed.
But at the beginning of the 2nd week, I told myself, “C´mon! This isn't you! You do stuff!” so I started composing the song that was simultaneously serious but that also had an element of solidarity. I recorded the song at home myself using Logic. My friend Luis Pimentel of Circo Records in Madrid mixed it, and Vanessa Silberman in New York City mastered it.
As soon as I finished the song, I decided to make a music video with the idea of making people smile. In order to do that, I recruited my neighbours across the street, Laura and Sergio, yelling at them from my balcony “Hey! Can you guys give me a hand making a music video?” Now I live in the Malasaña neighbourhood of Madrid, which is pretty arty, so it´s not such a weird request. We didn´t even know each other at the time but they immediately said “OF COURSE” - they filmed me on my balcony and appear dancing in the last scene of the video.
Moving forward
I am not going to abandon my business, that´s what feeds me, but my objective is to synchronize myself, and align myself, with a “life in creation”. That´s everything to me. I want to be a musician/artist/entertainer full time. We´ll see what happens with the production company but I know where I want to go, where I want to be.
