VOICE OVER: Miranda Lightstone
Available for the first time in North America, Infiniti's new “baby” model, the G25X is turning heads for all the right reasons -- despite looking and feeling identical to its big brother the G37. Relatively affordable, fun to drive and environmentally friendly, this car hits all its marks. Able to get through any driving conditions with confidence, the G25X model competes well in the sedan space. In this video, http://www.WatchMojo.com spends a week behind the wheel of the 2011 Infiniti G25X.

Design

Really, the G25X is pretty much identical to the G37. While it is noticeably smaller (when the two are parked side-by-side), with the G25 having a stubbier nose and trunk as well as smaller features, the cars are otherwise the same -- and that’s kind of a shame.

Because Infiniti has brought the G25 in as their “base” model, I expected a much smaller option. This is supposed to be their “economy” option, their basic vehicle, and yet it’s nothing more than a shrunken G37.

Even inside the amenities in the G25 mimic those of the G37 -- from the onboard computer and nav system to the myriad of warning systems and drive assist features. It might be “cheaper” than the G37, but it’s pretty much the same car.

The only real difference lies in the back seats. There is very little leg room in the back and really only space for 2 adults. Surprisingly, the trunk is quite large and makes the G25 practical while still being small, which is a nice compromise.

Drive

As the name denotes, the G25X is equipped with a 2.5-liter V6 engine that’s rated at 218 horsepower. For some this might not seem like a lot, but for a car the size of the G25X, the power is just right. Couple that with the all-wheel drive system (available on X models like the one we had), and you’ve got a sprightly little car that’s ready to take on the corners no matter what the weather or conditions.

It might not be the most exciting G in the lineup, but Infiniti did manage to keep a bit of the infamous Infiniti exhaust note on the G25 as well so the car retains that sporty feel despite being slightly less powerful and smaller. Overall, Infiniti has another great option in their lineup with the G25 and one that I would seriously considering owning down the line.
