The best and most anticipated games coming out in June!
Most Anticipated Games of June 2019
If you’re done watching that “Final Fantasy VII” remake trailer for the hundredth time, we have a few games with much closer release dates to check out. Welcome to MojoPlays and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Most Anticipated Games of June 2019.
For this list, we’re taking a look at just a few games coming out in June 2019. Although it’s light month for new releases, it’s still a month to get hyped for upcoming games with E3 2019 kicking off on June 11.
#5: “The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr”
Release Date: June 4, 2019
While it didn’t immediately win over everybody, “The Elder Scrolls Online” has continued to grow on people with each new update. Not only were the changes made in “Tamriel Unlimited” a major step forward, but the “Morrowind” and “Summerset” expansion packs have kept us eagerly coming back. The third expansion for this MMORPG returns players to Elsweyr, a location that hasn’t been explored since 1994’s “The Elder Scrolls: Arena.” “Elsweyr” continues the Season of the Dragon, which began with the “Wrathstone” DLC. The dragons aren’t even the main highlight, as “Elsweyr” also introduces the Necromancer class, allowing players to command the undead. For Windows, OS X, PS4, and Xbox One users, a door is about to be opened to another realm of adventure.
#4: “Samurai Shodown”
Release Date: June 27, 2019
It’s been nearly a decade since the “Samurai Shodown” series saw a new release. The 12th main game sets itself between the 1993 original and “Samurai Shodown V,” which came out back in 2003. Serving as a reboot, the game will initially feature 16 fighters, 13 of which are classic characters. “Samurai Shodown” stays true to its roots, bringing back the weapons-based, 2D combat that made the franchise an arcade favorite. At the same time, it’ll play around with new gameplay mechanics, such as a “Super Special Move” that players can use once per battle. The game is being released on PS4 and Xbox One this month with Switch and Windows releases planned for Q4 2019. Here’s hoping North America gets an arcade release too.
#3: “Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled”
Release Date: June 21, 2019
With the “N. Sane Trilogy,” Activision delivered almost everything we could’ve asked for out of a “Crash Bandicoot” remake collection. The only thing missing was an update of “Crash Team Racing,” the last Bandicoot game with Naughty Dog’s special touch. Crash and company are hitting the race tracks and battle arenas again in the “Nitro-Fueled” remake, giving fans the graphical makeover that they’ve been demanding for years. In addition to the original kart racing classic, the game also features content from “Crash Nitro Kart” and “Crash Tag Team Racing” from the PS2 era. “Nitro-Fueled” is going to be available on the 3 major consoles right out of the gate, though no word on a PC release at this stage. Still get ready to race like it’s 1999.
#2: “Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night”
Release Date: June 18, 2019
During his time with Konami, Koji Igarashi was a key creative force on several “Castlevania” games, most notably “Symphony of the Night.” After leaving in 2014, Igarashi made it his goal to produce a spiritual successor using backing from Kickstarter. The project raised over $5million, which at the time was a record for the crowd-funding platform. While a demo for the game had been available to backers for some time, there were complaints about the bland graphics. But the team has taken the feedback well, giving the visuals a significant improvement in quality just before release. Thanks to backers, “Ritual of the Night” will be available on all consoles as well as Steam.
#1: “Super Mario Maker 2”
Release Date: June 28, 2019
It was only a matter of time until “Super Mario Maker” came to the Nintendo Switch. The original on Wii U was a celebration of everything Mario, giving players the power to create their own wildly inventive courses. As for what “Super Mario Maker 2” brings? … Holy moley where do we even begin? Loads more level themes, new stage assets, a story mode with professionally made levels, better searching options, a unique “Super Mario 3D World” mode with more hinted as future DLC, we could go on. Perhaps most surprising of all is the inclusion of both Local and Online multiplayer in both co-operative and competitive modes. June as a whole looks light, but with everything “Super Mario Maker 2” is offering; we may be looking at a strong GOTY contender.
