Top 10 Actors Who Work Together Frequently
These two again? Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we count down our picks for the top 10 actors who work together frequently. For this list, we're taking a look at actors who have appeared in several movies together. The number of films together will be a factor, but we'll also be weighing how synonymous with one another they've become and how well known the films in question are.

#10: Chris Evans & Scarlett Johansson
We know what you’re thinking: including actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a bit cheap. And why these two when all the actors appear together in a bunch of Marvel films? Well first of all, stop trolling the comments section and let us remind you of the fact that they also starred together in a teen heist film called “The Perfect Score” and were love interests in “The Nanny Diaries.” Even before they were Cap and Black Widow they already had a couple of collaborations together, which might explain why these two have gelled so well together in their more recent superhero outings.
#9: Bradley Cooper & Jennifer Lawrence
Cooper and Lawrence first acted together as a couple of emotionally unstable people finding their way in the world in “Silver Linings Playbook,” a movie that won her an Academy Award and him a nomination. So it’s safe to say that when these two work together, magic happens. With both also awarded Oscar nominations for their follow up work together in “American Hustle,” it’s pretty obvious why they’ve chosen to continue appearing together. Although their film “Serena” passed by without much notice, they came back together in 2015 for “Joy,” where they teamed up again with director David O. Russell.
#8: Walter Matthau & Jack Lemmon
Despite having legendary careers as individuals, these two actors are linked in the minds of virtually everyone. Always hilarious together, these titans of comedy began their onscreen collaborations together in the late-1960s, when they starred in “The Fortune Cookie” and – of course – the classic “The Odd Couple.” Although they were often at odds on screen, in real life they were the closest of friends and that lent their roles an underlying affection that rang true. Performing together in eleven films total, these actors impacted others’ lives both onscreen and off.
#7: James Franco & Seth Rogen
First teaming up on Judd Apatow’s show “Freaks and Geeks,” Franco and Rogen have since become one of Hollywood’s “it” comedy couples, appearing in movies, spoof music videos and even TV shows together. However, it’s definitely their film work that has gotten the lion’s share of the love and the laughs, with the likes of “This Is the End” and “Pineapple Express” as just two in a long line of partnerships. With even more films on the docket for these two in the future, wherever these two go laughs are sure to follow.
#6: Tom Hanks & Meg Ryan
One of America’s favorite leading men teaming together with the actress that spent years as America’s sweetheart worked out even better than anyone could’ve thought. Having undeniable chemistry even in the flop “Joe Versus the Volcano,” by the time they appeared in “Sleepless in Seattle” everyone wanted more – especially since they barely shared any screen time together. Rekindling their romance five years later in “You’ve Got Mail,” Hanks and Ryan proved that theirs is an enduring relationship with which fans will continue to empathize. Now that’s an onscreen power couple.
#5: Woody Allen & Diane Keaton
Take a minute and think of a Woody Allen movie. In all likelihood, a vision of Woody Allen and Diane Keaton walking the streets of New York is probably what came to mind. After dating for about a year in the 1970s, Allen and Keaton began a professional relationship that proved central to both their careers. With Keaton acting as a sort of muse for the comedian/director, she became a romantic lead in several of Allen’s most well-loved projects, “Annie Hall” and “Manhattan” being key examples. It was a no-brainer to feature these two here.
#4: Ben Stiller & Owen Wilson
Whether they’re family in “The Royal Tenenbaums,” really, really, ridiculously good looking rivals in “Zoolander” or romantic adversaries in “Meet the Parents,” these two are cinematic gold. Owen Wilson may also partner with Vince Vaughn a lot, but we’d prefer to see him work with his comedic partner in crime any day of the week. With their brand of comedy at once smart and stupid, their competitive connection shows up in everything they touch. And with “Zoolander 2” released 16 years after the original, it’s clear that their priceless, awkward and hilarious moments are in no way a thing of the past.
#3: Nick Frost & Simon Pegg
What started as two friends starring in a British cult TV series partly based on their slacker lifestyle has expanded into one of the most successful cinematic friendships of all time. No matter the characters, circumstances or genre, Frost and Pegg always manage to bring a realistic friendship to the screen when appearing together. Take away the zombies, murderers and aliens from their most famous films, and you’ll still have that lighthearted and believable camaraderie as the foundation of the entire film. With Pegg often playing the straight man and Frost usually the more…eccentric character, this is a pairing made in comedy heaven.
#2: Johnny Depp & Helena Bonham Carter
Two actors forever connected thanks to director Tim Burton, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter were bound to work together eventually, but starring in five of his feature-length films in row linked them in our minds for good. With their offbeat sensibilities playing perfectly of one another, Depp and Bonham Carter were the perfect pair to bring Burton’s off-kilter creations to the screen – although they also appeared in non-Burton films like “The Lone Ranger.” Sharing a similar vibe when it comes to their wardrobes, role choices and more, Depp and Bonham Carter go together like a Tim Burton character and eyeliner.
Before we reveal our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions:
- Will Ferrell & John C. Reilly
- Matt Damon & Ben Affleck
- Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore
- Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers
- Bruce Willis & Samuel L. Jackson
- Gene Wilder & Richard Pryor
#1: Robert De Niro & Joe Pesci
Joe Pesci is an accomplished actor who has not only won an Academy Award, but has also shown his range in films as different “Home Alone” and “GoodFellas.” And although we love seeing him play a hapless burglar, Pesci’s best work has happened alongside Robert De Niro. And when under the direction of Martin Scorsese, these two have yet to miss the mark. Pesci is often the live-wire with a short temper; De Niro usually proves to have a calmer head but can be just as lethal. Together, they’re a deadly combination, and with a new Scorsese-directed De Niro/Pesci joint in the works, we’re confident the streak will survive.
