Top 10 Anime Characters Who Deserve Death
VOICE OVER: Ashley Bowman WRITTEN BY: Alex Crilly-Mckean
Oooooooh, I hope you get it in the neck! Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 10 Anime Characters Who Deserve Death.

For this list, we'll be looking at the characters who have incurred our wrath to the point that we're wishing death upon them. Goes to show what anime can do to a person…

#10: Masayoshi Shido

“Persona 5: The Animation” (2018-19)

Some people will do anything in order to climb the political ladder, but only this guy would resort to using their own son to commit mental assassinations through the Metaverse. His list of hits reach far and wide, but don’t worry, the future Prime Minister has plenty of other major flaws to enrage you towards him. Aside from originally ditching his son, he’s also the one that pushed his mother towards suicide, has no issue with blackmailing the police, and has been known to be a lecherous fiend from time to time. Oh, and he also used his influence to get Joker a criminal record. Swell guy.

#9: Shouichi Makise

“Steins;Gate” (2011)

Jealousy is truly an ugly thing, one that can make men into monsters, to the point they would be willing to kill their own child in order to steal their recognition. Kurisu’s father is, unfortunately, one such man. One so infinitely weak-willed that he couldn’t handle the fact his daughter’s unparallel genius, and as a result was willing go the extra mile for her research. Failing in some timelines and succeeding in others, this envious scientist’s deeds not only resulted in the death of best girl, but also played a part in causing World War Three.

#8: Ogai Mori

“Bungo Stray Dogs” (2016-19)

It takes someone truly…special in order to run an organization like the Port Mafia, and while we can’t deny that the ex-doctor commands absolute respect and authority, we can’t help but wish Dazai had taken his head when he quit. Putting aside the creep factor in regards to his daughter/whatever-the-heck-she-is, Mori’s single mindedness has resulted in the senseless sacrifices of his own subordinates, including that of Odasaku. It doesn’t matter who he has to butcher in order to further the agenda of Port Mafia, the Boss is as ruthless as he is efficient.

#7: Kazutaka Hyōdō

“Kaiji” Series (2007-11)

Apparently when you have all the money in the world, life can get quite boring. While most would decide to pick up a hobby, this perverse chairman is in the business of setting up death traps for financially struggling individuals. While they risk life and limb in order to pull themselves out of debt, this vile old man is getting off every time they break a bone or fall deeper into despair. The sad truth is that thanks to the empire he’s built, there’s no chance of him ever facing the consequences. Plus, he gets giddy from making people drink wine that he’s submerged his dirty feet in. That’s just wrong.

#6: Orochimaru

“Naruto” Series (2002-)

The snake that turned a vengeful boy to the dark side, nearly toppled an entire village, and has been known to torture people in the hopes of perfecting new types of jutsu. As far as MVP villains go, this Sannin was inches from the top. His immense strength, arsenal of forbidden techniques and tendency to escape death by body-swapping made him one slippery customer. Honestly his body count was probably bigger than most members of the Akatsuki. How this guy ended up living a comfy life under surveillance as a proud papa is beyond us!

#5: Rustal Elion

“Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans” (2015-17)

By biding his time and playing outside the rules, this noble not only managed to rise to the pinnacle of Gjallerhorn’s ranks, but also wiped out all of his potential enemies in a single, calculated stroke. It was masterfully done, and how we hate him for it. Not only did Master Rustal’s war crimes lead to the deaths of multiple Tekkadan members, but perhaps most infuriatingly, his victory paved way to give Mars the independence it had long sought, only now it’s built on the bones of Orga and Mikazuki. Clever, clever bastard.

#4: Angelo

“JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable” (2016)

Getting fused into a statue certainly seems like it could make for a brutal way to spend the rest of existence, but need we remind you this murderer not only killed Josuke’s grandfather, but took great pleasure in the violation, mutilation and murder of young boys? Doesn’t he at the very least deserve to face the same agonising end as Kira? He may be unable to move but he’s still a pile of sentient stone. What’s wrong with dishing out an extra dollop of DORA DORA DORA. Maybe every hour, on the hour for the next decade?

#3: Bondrewd

“Made in Abyss” (2017)

This might as well be the academic standard for how anime villains can establish themselves in the space of a single episode, especially if they’re really going for that hate-boner. Unnervingly charismatic? Check. Sinister set of armour? Check. Complete lack of morality in his search for knowledge? Check. Plummeting two orphans to the bottom of the abyss just to investigate the effect of the curse and as a result turn them into hideous monsters and forever decimate their innocence? Double check. Honestly, Lord Buckethead here should have been the one to get punched by Ozen!

#2: Gaku Yashiro

“Erased” (2016)

Speaking of harm done to children, what this homeroom teacher lacks in fantasy gimmicks he makes up for in sheer sadism. Obsessed with kidnapping and killing his own students, Yashiro’s hellish spree went on for years, with Satoru nearly falling victim to his deception. Thankfully, with the intervention with some handy-dandy time travel, the charming psychopath was eventually apprehended, though given the amount of kids he probably left dead and buried, it burns our souls that we didn’t get to see Yashiro get the Kayo treatment!

#1: Griffith

“Berserk” Franchise (1997-)

Yes, yes, yes, the Eclipse was one of the most harrowing experiences we have ever witnessed, the ultimate betrayal that still hurts to watch, etc. Now then, let’s move onto some of the OTHER reasons that the White Hawk deserves to have his pretty little head removed courtesy of the Dragonslayer. Not content to remain as the Wings of Darkness, Griffith managed to get himself reborn into the world of the living, where he proceeded to win back the favour of the people like a bonafied saviour. Good on you Griffith, you managed to reclaim all that you lost and then some, and all it took was you sacrificing your comrades. Get em’ Guts.
