Top 10 Anime Fights Where The Villain Wins

For this list, we'll be looking at the times where the antagonists in anime came out on top, whether through overpowering their opponents or resorting to trickery, they still scored the big W.
#10: Dio vs. Kakyoin
“JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders” (2014-15)
We all remember where we were when the Ultimate MILF Hunter met his demise, and while he managed to pass on the secret of Dio’s Stand to his fellow crusaders, it still cost him everything. Despite laying quite the trap with Hierophant Green, nothing could save Kakyoin from the nigh unstoppable power of The World, who not only packed one hell of a wallop, but could freeze time whenever it needed to. Poor guy never stood a chance. He didn’t even get a chance woo his best friend’s mama. Tragic.
#9: Android 18 vs. Vegeta
“Dragon Ball Z” (1989-96)
She’s a beautiful blonde with legs for days, that just so happens to excel at kicking the Saiyan Prince’s ass. While his new golden locks certainly gave him enough of a power boost to mop the floor with Android 19 and Dr Gero, Vegeta was woefully unprepared for the sheer strength of Krillin’s future wifey. Seriously, she messes his shit up. With minimal effort we might add. Still not sure what was shattered worse – Vegeta’s arm or his pride.
#8: Pain vs. Jiraya
“Naruto: Shippuden” (2007-17)
Probably not the kind of master/student reunion the frog sage was looking for, but at least it gave us one of the most action-packed and emotionally crippling confrontations the series ever produced. Faced with the overwhelming power of the Rinnegan, Jiraya pulls out all the stops in order to end the leader of the Akatsuki, and he might have succeeded…if there was only one of them. Unfortunately, the perverted hermit found himself tangoing with the SIX Paths of Pain, which proved to be one too many for him to handle.
#7: Crocodile vs. Luffy
“One Piece (1999-)
While we all know their future confrontations lead to the Straw Hat Captain sending Mr 0 down under, but during their first encounter, things didn’t go so well for him. After all, it’s pretty hard to knock a guy out when all you end up punching is sand. Thanks to his Devil Fruit, Crocodile was easily able to overwhelm Luffy, to the point where he left him in the desert to die, though not before he impaled him with his hook. Guess rubber can’t bounce back from everything.
#6: The Commandments vs. Meliodas
“The Seven Deadly Sins” (2014-)
Turns out that even after getting his original strength back, the Dragon Sin of Wrath can’t measure up to a combined assault of his demonic brethren. With each of the Ten Commandments utilizing their hellish powers, it’s fair to say that Meliodas gets the stuffing beaten out of him. While a last second Revenge Counter probably would have won him the day, Estarossa’s intervention quickly brought that to a close, ending yet another of his brother’s lives via stabbing all of his hearts one after another. Sibling rivalries, am I right?
#5: Yomi vs. Yusuke
“Yu Yu Hakusho” (1992-94)
While the Spirit Detective has been known to take a beating every other episode, the idea that he would end up losing to a demon in a tournament arc of all things is kind of ludicrous. You don’t just get one over on the bad boy of retro shounen! Alas that’s exactly what Yomi did, and while their moral dispute may have convinced him to abandon his more extremist ways, he still takes home the belt for knocking out Yusuke freakin’ Urameshi. At least Yusuke had a nice nap.
#4: True Assassin vs. Lancer
“Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel I. presage flower” (2017)
That’s right people. The Gae Bulge failed. And thanks to Ufotable’s seemingly unlimited budget, we’re able to see it all in glorious high definition. Taking on a much different version of Assassin in this particular route, Lancer’s flashy spear tactics certainly managed to put on an impressive show, but they all end up being for nought when the battle heads from the big city over to the swamp, where the cloaked killer managed to literally steal Cú Chulainn’s heart. So much for the luck of the Irish.
#3: Garou vs. Death Gatling's Group
“One-Punch Man” (2015-19)
He may not be Saitama, but the Hero Hunter certainly knows how to bring the pain. Can you really blame him? You don’t ambush a man when he’s chilling in his shed! Despite being heavily wounded and severely outmatched, the former protégé of Bang not only manages to outlast his attackers but beat them within an inch of their lives by using their own skills against them. While you can’t help but cheer for the man who blurs the lines between justice and evil, it’s clear that the so-called villain won the day here.
#2: Hisoka vs. Gon
“Hunter x Hunter” (2011-14)
Ever since Hisoka bailed his ass out of a bad situation during the Hunter Exam, Gon was on a mission to get even with the creepy Jester. After making his way through the ranks, Gon was finally able to get his chance at redemption when the two squared off at the Heavens Arena. Despite showing promise during the beating he received, the young Hunter was no match for Hisoka’s aptly named Bungie Gum, which resulted in him losing via TKO.
#1: Licht vs. Julius
“Black Clover” (2017-)
In one of the year’s most hell-raising lightshows, the infamous leader of the Eye of the Midnight Sun made the first step in seeking vengeance against humanity, by slaying its beacon of hope. Not that the Wizard King didn’t put up a fight, given how his time magic was even strong enough to evade and counter any kind of light magic thrown his way. Alas, his willingness to protect his people over himself proved to be his undoing, since it gave Licht an opening to gut him where he stood. Well…at least the position’s open now, get in there Asta!
