Top 10 Baymax! Moments That Made Us Happy Cry

Top 10 Baymax! Moments That Made Us Happy Cry
VOICE OVER: Emily Brayton
Baymax proves that crying can sometimes be healthy. For this list, we'll be looking at the most heartwarming moments from this show about everyone's favorite inflatable healthcare companion. Our countdown includes Cass' video message, Kiko takes the plunge, Mbita gets a date, and more!

#10: Cass’ Video Message “Cass”

In the series premiere, Hiro’s Aunt Cass sprains her ankle while running her café, The Happy Cat. Baymax insists she rest while he takes care of things around the shop, which yields mixed results. We then learn that Cass is adamant about staying open because she fears her customers will abandon her otherwise. However, footage recorded by cat Mochi reveals that’s not the case. She and Baymax watch a video of her loyal customers wishing her well and encouraging her to focus on her recovery. It’s wonderful to see Cass go from feeling overwhelmed to appreciated. And the image of her being carried on Baymax’s back makes things even more beautiful.

#9: Talent Show “Sofia”

Top 10 Shocking Drag Race Talent Show Moments

Middle schooler Sofia experiences her first period at a rather inconvenient time: right before she’s supposed to compete in the school talent show. Her friend and talent show partner Ali pleads with her to not give up, but she finds herself struggling to keep her composure. After some encouragement from Baymax, Sofia rediscovers her confidence and impresses on stage, performing mesmerizing yo-yo tricks with Ali. Granted, there is a little mishap towards the end. But Baymax is there to help as always. And Sofia and Ali win the grand prize. It’s certainly more impressive than any of our talent show performances.

#8: Mbita’s Ladle “Mbita”

Food truck proprietor Mbita is adamant about one thing: serving only fish soup. The name of his truck is even “Just Fish Soup.” However, an allergic reaction prompts a visit from Baymax, who tells Mbita that he can’t work with fish any longer. Afraid to face the truth, Mbita leads Baymax on a high-speed chase, which results in the breaking of his prized ladle: reading “Love. Life. Fish.” Mbita later talks about his fear of not knowing what to do next. But he seems to find an answer in his broken ladle. With the “Fish” part of the label broken off, Mbita can now focus on “Love” and “Life.” He’s able to start fresh with a new menu and a new outlook.

#7: Kiko Talks About Her Husband “Kiko”

At first, Kiko seems like she might be impossible to reach. After Baymax learns of her water phobia, he uses various methods of exposure to try and help her overcome her fear, which she continuously resists. However, there’s more to Kiko’s aqua apprehension than we initially realized. She specifically has a difficult time being at the community pool. Her late husband was an avid swimmer there, and he’d try to get her to join him. But the fear was just too much. Although we don’t get to meet Kiko’s husband, it’s clear, based on how she speaks about him, that he’ll always hold a special place in her heart.

#6: Kiko Takes the Plunge “Kiko”

Once Kiko opens up to Baymax about her husband, the stage is set for her to literally get her feet - and more - wet. She might think that she’s missed her chance, but Baymax reminds her that it’s not too late. Soon enough, Kiko is enthusiastically jumping into the water, with Baymax there for support. And her triumph is captured in a photo, displayed next to one of her beloved husband. Baymax’s effort and understanding once again help someone to face their fears. We also can’t resist that image of him in his red trunks and swim cap.

#5: Yachi Saves the Day “Baymax”

Things look a bit grim in the season finale. An uncharged Baymax is stuck in an empty factory, which is set to be demolished. His human friends work together to get him out of there before the moment of destruction. However, it’s his feline friend who thinks on her paws and finds the perfect solution. Yachi, a stray cat who Baymax helped earlier, gets up on the roof. Upon seeing her, the foreman orders a temporary halt to the demolition. This gives the rest of them plenty of time to get Baymax out of there safely. Now that’s a good kitty.

#4: Mbita Gets a Date “Mbita”

Before opening his truck for the day, Mbita shops for ingredients at the local market. Here, he runs into Yukio, an apple vendor with his own station nearby. Based on how Mbita acts around Yukio, it’s pretty clear he’s smitten. While he focuses on his food for most of the episode, Yukio is still on Mbita’s mind. And at the end, he asks Yukio out in the most adorable way possible. We don’t see them on their date. But based on how things go on this show, we bet it was sweeter than Yukio’s applesauce.

#3: Baymax Tells Sofia “You Will Always Be You" “Sofia”

Superhero Origins: Baymax

Getting her first period doesn’t just mean Sofia might not be able to compete in the talent show. It also means she’s growing up before she expected to. She confides in Baymax about her fears of encroaching adulthood when she’s still not ready to say goodbye to childhood. Baymax reminds her that she’s still young and that this one experience doesn’t have to change who she is at her core. Sofia is re-energized by these words, and we’re touched to know that Baymax is there to let her know everything is going to be okay.

#2: Baymax in the Hygiene Products Aisle “Sofia”

Baymax really goes above and beyond for Sofia in this episode. To help her with her period, he heads to the local supermarket to find her the right product. Although he has plenty of knowledge on other topics, he’s a bit perplexed by this one. So, he gets help from various shoppers, who recommend different products. Pretty soon, everyone is pitching in to help Baymax help Sofia. And he returns with his arms absolutely full. This heartwarming scene also includes a great moment for transgender representation. We just have one question: how did Baymax pay for all this?
