You don’t have to rough it to enjoy the great outdoors. Welcome to MojoTravels and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 10 Glamping Spots in the US.
For this list, we’re looking at the most scenic and most luxurious spots to glamp in the country. We’re excluding cabins from our search and focusing more on true high-end camping.
#10: Autocamp Russian River
California
Scattered across the state of California, including at gorgeous Russian River, you’ll find Autocamp outposts. Autocamp has partnered with Airstream trailers (yes the cool chrome colored ones), to create a camping experience that feels both retro and modern. These little homes away from home are oh so Instagrammable, providing the perfect adorable backdrop for your glamping experience. The company has been around since 2013, and has been expanding their reach by opening new sites with each passing year. They offer tents and cabins too, so there’s really something for everyone.
#9: Ithaca by Firelight Camps
New York
Firelight features safari-style tents that will make you feel like you’ve stepped into another era, and the private balconies offer up gorgeous views. Because of its location in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, on the grounds of the La Tourelle Resort and Spa, fall is the perfect time to visit Firelight Camps, in order to take advantage of the autumn foliage. And the plus side is, the people behind Firelight Camps had sustainability in mind every step of the way, ensuring that letting people enjoy nature won’t have a negative ecological footprint.
#8: Terra Glamping
California
Just off the Pacific Coast Highway you’ll find the one of a kind experience of Terra Glamping. If you’ve ever dreamt of waking up and watching the sun rise over the Pacific Ocean from the comfort of your very own safari-style tent, this is the place for you. Despite the fact that you’ll definitely be living in comfort, the people behind this glamping destination decided to keep it an “unplugged experience” so you can truly enjoy your natural surroundings without any of today’s modern distractions.
#7: Conestoga Ranch
Utah
Utah may not have the same level of booming tourism as some of the other areas on our list today, but trust us when we say that it’s worth the trip to this glamping hub. Conestoga Ranch is located just beside Bear Lake which has been called “the Caribbean of the Rockies”. Take that as you will, but the area is undeniably gorgeous and the people at Conestoga have set up something wholly unique. There are a wide variety of accommodations here, including covered wagon-style tents which will give you the experience of the old west, with a few modern luxuries.
#6: Ventana Big Sur
California
Some of the most incredible landscapes in the country exist in Big Sur, which is situated along the central coast of California, so it stands to reason that camping here would be an incredible trip. The Ventana Resort offers up many different types of lodging, but for our purposes their safari tents are the way to go. What’s great about this spot is that glampers are able to take advantage of everything else the resort has to offer. Along with all the other amenities, these tents come with daily housekeeping as well as tea and coffee in the morning.
#5: Under Canvas Glacier
Montana
The company Under Canvas had the brilliant idea of opening glamping locations in all of the most stunning natural destinations in the United States, and their Glacier National Park location is one of our favorites. Of course, this National Park is awe-inspiring no matter how you visit, but getting to explore the area and then come home to your private tent turns it into a dream vacation. You can stay in a smaller tipi-style tent or go for the most indulgent option of a safari tent suite which has its own ensuite bathroom.
#4: Alpenglow Luxury Camping
Alaska
Did you think it was possible to see the northern lights from the United States? Well if you travel to Alaska it definitely is! And there’s no better way to take in this otherworldly sight than from Alpenglow Luxury Camping. Their large canvas tents come along with private porches, which are perfect places to sit back with a glass of wine and stare into the night sky. The site also has a cedar hot tub that is open in the evenings as well as fire pits and other common spaces. The location may be remote but it’s totally worth the journey.
#3: Fireside Resort
Wyoming
Any outdoorsy types and adventurous travellers know that Jackson Hole is one of the most stunning natural destinations in the country. Fireside Resort in Wyoming has become known for their tiny luxury cabins, but they also provide a glamping experience like no other. You won’t have to do any work at all setting up a tent here- when you arrive you’ll be able to settle right in to one of the most over-the-top safari tents we have ever seen. Taking in the great outdoors is easy when you’re staying somewhere with accomodations like these!
#2: Under Canvas Grand Canyon
Arizona
We already took a look at the Under Canvas location at Glacier National Park, and the only one that tops it is the one near one of America’s natural treasures- the Grand Canyon. It should come as no surprise that any camping in this region is spectacular, but these extravagant accomodations make it all the better. This spot has many of the amenities of the other locations on our list but also has a “stargazer” tent with a window in the ceiling that lets you take in the gorgeous night sky.
Before we unveil our number one pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
Asheville Glamping
North Carolina
Posh Primitive
New York
#1: Sandy Pines Campground
Maine
Located in Kennebunkport, Maine is the Sandy Pines Campground. The name may sound fairly simple and familiar, but this is a place unlike any you’ve seen, or experienced before. The Glamp Tent Village that they’ve created here is totally unique, offering a variety of different safari-style tents, each with a different decor style created by a different designer. You can opt for something rustic, mid-century modern, or a historic safari-inspired look. This also means you can visit again and again and never have the same glamping vacation twice!
