VOICE OVER: Emily - WatchMojo WRITTEN BY: Nick Spake
Even Ricky would have trouble finding fault in these looks. For this list, we're taking a look at the red carpet ensembles that impressed us the most at the 77th Golden Globe Awards. From stunning dresses worn by stars like Scarlett Johansson and Ana de Armas, to Phoebe Waller-Bridge's jaw-dropping sequin suit, join MsMojo as we applaud the Top 10 Best Looks at the 2020 Golden Globes!

#10: Saoirse Ronan

Nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, Saoirse Ronan sported an assortment of period outfits in “Little Women,” but she adopted a more contemporary look for the Golden Globes. Where Jo March’s wardrobe primarily consisted of tomboyish clothes, Ronan transformed into a shining star on the red carpet. Opting for a daring backless dress with spaghetti straps, the Irish-American actress looked confident as ever in this sparkling Celine gown. She complemented her high-slit silver dress with a pair of subtle but glittery high heels. Ronan kept her makeup modest with rose gold eyeshadow, letting her natural bright blue eyes, fair skin, and glossy blonde hair do all the talking.

#9: Jennifer Lopez

In “Hustlers,” Jennifer Lopez played a street-smart stripper who knows her way around a pole, but we have a feeling her dance routine would’ve been a lot harder to pull off in this ravishing ball gown. The Best Supporting Actress nominee wrapped herself up in a Valentino dress, complete with a giant golden bow. Completing her look with white and green colors, Twitter was quick to point out the similarities between JLo’s dress and a Christmas present. Even her braided bun kind of looked like a Christmas wreath! For our money, though, Lopez pulled it off with her signature confidence, charisma, and glamour, and reminds us that Lopez’s presence on any red carpet is a gift. Also, we want those emerald jewels for next Christmas!

#8: Billy Porter

Even when he’s wearing all white, Billy Porter is easily the most colorful personality at any awards show. Compared to some of his past red carpet looks, Porter actually kept things pretty simple here… from the waist up at least. The “Pose” star has developed a reputation for his dramatic fashion choices, and he didn’t disappoint at this year’s Globes. Porter paired his white tuxedo and button-down shirt with a long, feathered train with the essence of angel wings. Porter said that the outfit was intended for standing rather than sitting - fortunately, the train was removable, because of course. Finishing off the look with Jimmy Choo boots, Tiffany & Co. jewelry, and silver handbag, this ensemble was 100% Porter.

#7: Joey King

Every time we see Joey King at an awards show, we can’t help but be awe-struck. Part of that’s because she looks so radically different as Gypsy Rose Blanchard on “The Act.” What really blows us away, however, are King’s striking fashion choices. At the 2020 Globes, she showed up in an Iris van Herpen “optical illusion” dress. Comprised of black and white stripes, the dress sent us into an almost hypnotic state, making it impossible to look away. Much like a painting you’d see in a modern art museum, it’s easy not to lose oneself in the dress’ mind-bending pattern. From the thin lines running down her neck to the wavy sleeves, all eyes were on King whenever she stopped to pose.

#6: Helen Mirren

Helen Mirren never fails to entrance the paparazzi, and we honestly can’t get enough. The English actress was the epitome of regal in her long-sleeved, off-the-shoulder burgundy gown. Making her way down the red carpet, Mirren would playfully twirl her layered shirt at spectators. Who says that queens can’t cut loose? Apparently, Mirren suffered a minor wardrobe malfunction at the ceremony, but she pulled herself together with some help from her pal Meryl Streep. Mirren accessorized with a Harry Winston diamond necklace, ring, and earrings, amounting to a reported $4 million worth of jewelry. It’s definitely an ensemble worthy of Catherine the Great.

#5: Priyanka Chopra

It’s been almost two decades since Priyanka Chopra won Miss World 2000, and there are still few people in this world who can light up a red carpet like she can. Attending the Globes with her hubby Nick Jonas, Chopra wowed everybody in a bright pink off-the-shoulder dress that accentuated her flawless hourglass figure. The springtime color meshed wonderfully with Chopra’s makeup, particularly her dusty red lipstick. Her wavy hairdo possessed echoes of a classic Hollywood starlet, as if Chopra traveled back to the first Golden Globes in 1944. Topping off the look with a diamond Bulgari necklace, Chopra remains a vision of perfection.

#4: Rachel Brosnahan

This dress is so glamorous that we almost didn’t notice that the usually brunette Rachel Brosnahan went blonde for the ceremony. Midge has more clothes than she knows what to do with on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” but we bet she’d still give an arm and a leg for this Michael Kors Collection dress. Distinguished with a low V-neck, the deep purple sequined gown brings out much of Mrs. Maisel’s character. It’s quirky yet stylish, bold yet sophisticated, and beaming with personality. If Midge was a contemporary standup comedienne, we imagine this is exactly what she’d wear to the Globes.

#3: Renée Zellweger

Following a lengthy hiatus from the awards show circuit, Renée Zellweger won a fourth Golden Globe for her transformative portrayal of Judy Garland. To commemorate her big comeback, Zellweger arrived at The Beverly Hilton in a strapless baby blue dress with glittered trim. Given her acting caliber, it’s surreal to think that we haven’t seen more of Zellweger over the past decade. Between her phenomenal performance and this Armani Privé red carpet look, however, her star is shining brighter than ever. We couldn’t be more over the moon for this luxurious gown, or perhaps we should say over the rainbow.

#2: Scarlett Johansson

As alluring as Nicole Kidman was in her blazing dress, (xref) nobody rocks the color red like Scarlett Johansson. Seriously, who doesn’t love seeing Scarlett in scarlet red? In “Marriage Story,” Johansson played a woman going through a difficult divorce. She sent off the opposite vibes on the red carpet, looking ready for the world’s most lavish Valentine’s Day ball. The deep neckline of her strapless Vera Wang gown almost resembled a heart. She tied the ensemble together with a bow in the back, followed by a fiery train. As to not distract from her dress or jewelry, Johansson wisely decided to pull her hair back into a bun. Given the dress’ romantic nature, it’s only fitting that Johannsson attended with her beau Colin Jost. (xref) Nicole Kidman Before we get to our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions: Phoebe Waller-Bridge Beanie Feldstein Reese Witherspoon Zoë Kravitz Gugu Mbatha-Raw

#1: Ana de Armas

As Marta Cabrera in “Knives Out,” Ana de Armas played a timid caretaker who often blends into the background. The Cuban-Spanish beauty was anything but a wallflower at her first Golden Globes, however. De Armas’ strapless black sequin Ralph & Russo ball gown had the essence of a glimmering ocean being hit with pale moonlight. And we know you care - IT HAS POCKETS! Keeping with the murder mystery theme of her film, de Armas’ makeup was simply to die for with killer red lipstick. She rounded out the ensemble with Tiffany & Co. jewelry, shimmering like a diamond. We’re not sure what de Armas was talking about when she described herself as “a bit of a mess” on the red carpet. If this classy look proves anything, it’s that she’s ready to play a Bond bombshell.
