Top 10 British YouTubers - TopX Ep.31
VOICE OVER: Dan Paradis
Welcome to the thirty-first episode of TopX, the http://www.WatchMojo.com show where we countdown the very best that YouTube has to offer! You can vote on future episode topics here: http://WatchMojo.comtopx Today we're going across the pond and counting down our picks for the top 10 British YouTubers.

#10: danisnotonfire
youtube.com/danisnotonfire

• How would your parents react if you told them you were quitting Law School to focus on your YouTube channel? Just think about that while we watch out next entry, Dan Howell’s blog danisnotonfire.
• Dan, other Dan, is the vlogger king of self deprecating humor. Referring to his vlog as an internet support group, he essentially claims that you can you laugh at his life so you can feel better about yours. What a nice guy.
• As I mentioned when we covered him way back in 2014, his vlogs cover pretty much all aspects of his day to day life, from life changing embarrassment to the everyday struggle of trying to get out of bed. A personal favorite of mine though, are his takes on advice columns - which are basically just rants.

#9: JacksGap
youtube.com/jacksgap

• Moving on from a rather standard vlog to one that’s pretty darn experimental, we have Jacksgap, run by brothers and twins, Jack and Finn Harries.
• Essentially, Jacksgap is a travel vlog, although the stated goal of the channel is to tell stories. With that in mind, know that there’s a huge variety of different styles crammed into the various travel videos they do; from a full fledged series with a number of characters like Rickshaw Run trip through India, to simpler, artsy style pieces like 24 Hours in Tokyo. Man, somebody get this guy a GoPro.
• As much as the brothers like to travel, the channel also features rather traditional vlog style updates, and even a series of musical sessions called “shed sessions”. Lots of content to dig into here, especially if you think the brothers are cute.

#8: ComedyShortsGamer
youtube.com/ComedyShortsGamer

• Coming up next is one of a few channels that we’ll see today that we’ve already seen before on this show, and a personal favorite of mine. At #8 is Deji, the comedy shorts gamer.
• We do this show every week, so I watch a lot of YouTube, but it's rare that I find something that I find funny or entertaining enough to share with my friends. Deji’s videos generally buck that trend, as I’ve personally shared some of my favorites from him, specifically his Banana and Sprite challenge, and the prank where he tells his mom that he got his gf pregnant. Good stuff.
• Sort of a mix between gamer, prankster and vlogger, Deji’s success clearly stems from his all round likeability. His channel is less about the amazing things he does, and more about how much fun it is to see him do it all. He does abuse his poor family a lot though. (Dad using Oculus Rift, Roller Coaster)

#7: Emma Blackery
youtube.com/emmablackery

• If Dan Howells channel were run by a young lady instead of by an young man, it would probably look a lot like our next pick, Emma Blackery.
• Emma’s channel is a mixed bag of a lot of the elements you see on popular YouTube channels. She vlogs, she does skits, she does little songs with her Ukulele and she’s always changing her hairstyle. It’s really one of the YouTube-iest youtube channels out there..if that makes any sense.
• Emma really likes to poke fun at social media. One of her best videos is a skit where she plays all the various popular social media platforms, as people, out on a date - and another is a song she plays on her ukelele ripping Google+ completely apart. It’s pretty harsh.
• One thing I should mention, is that while her subscriber numbers are probably the lowest out of everyone we’ll see today - she had the highest amount of upvotes on our suggest page from our users. Mojoholics approve.

#6: Stampylonghead
youtube.com/stampylonghead

• Coming up next is another veteran of the show, the irrepressibly cheerful Mr Stampy.
• In case you haven’t been paying much attention to the YouTube scene, there is one thing that’s reallllly been dominating these past few years, and that’s Minecraft - and Stampy is up there with the best of em’. Although he does upload footage from other games, Minecraft is really his thing...even his trailer is done in Minecraft.
• Like I said before, this is not the first time we’ve seen Stampy on one of our lists, but a point I like to keep coming back to is how he’s consistent and child friendly. He uploads every day, which is kind of amazing, and his content is very whimsical and friendly - meaning that if you’ve got young ones that like to consume everything minecraft, this is a safe bet for them.

#5: ThatcherJoe
youtube.com/thatcherJoe

• As we near the halfway point, you’re going to notice a distinct theme emerging with ultra popular siblings. We’ve actually already seen 1 set of twins and another YouTuber who’s brother is coming up later, but for now, we’re focusing on another Youtube who will have family ties later down the list - Thatcher Joe or should I say.. Joe Sugg.
• In case you didn’t know, Joe Sugg is the brother of the ludicrously popular Zoella - and if you don’t know who that is, I guess you’ll just have to keep watching.
• Joe’s channel is another one that’s quintessential YouTube through and through. He’s big into pranks, impressions and challenges, and often features other popular YouTubers joining in the fun. Actually, pretty much all of his videos feature some sort of unpleasant challenge and prank - it’s all in good fun, but it’s also pretty self deprecating.

#4: Caspar
youtube.com/dicasp

• Our next entry is almost cheating because while he was born in London, he was raised in Knysna, South Africa. But now he’s based back in London, so he still counts. Also, you may recognize his roommate from our last entry…
• Almost every one of Caspar’s videos features a guest star, a prank, or both. It’s a really lighthearted, fun and mischievous channel, and one where you can regularly spot some of the biggest names on the YouTube scene - and not just the Sugg kids.
• Caspar’s actually landed some pretty high profile guests on his show. Maisie Williams, who plays Aria Stark on Game of Thrones stopped by for a chat in one of his clips, as did Kevin Hart. He’s also got a pretty cringe worthy interview with pornstar Asa Akira - which is the only video I’ve ever seen her in where I’ve watched the whole thing.

#3: The Diamond Minecart // DanTDM
youtube.com/TheDiamondMinecart

• Taking a break from traditional vloggers and pranksters, we have a good old fashioned Minecraft channel. Like I alluded to before, if the popularity of this sorta thing surprises you, you haven’t really been paying attention.
• While Minecraft videos are nothing new to YouTube, Dan Middleton, who runs this channel, really tries to think outside the box - or cube - in terms of content. Like I mentioned the last time we saw him on the show, he mixes elaborate scenarios, strange new mods and a series of ongoing characters into his videos to really shake things up.

#2: Zoella
youtube.com/zoella280390

• If you’ve seen this show before or if your YouTube suggestion algorithm think’s that you identify as a girl, chances are, you’re already familiar with our #2 pick, the insanely popular Zoella.
• We included Zoella initially as a makeup artist on our list of makeup gurus, but really she’s a lot more than that. Infinitely popular, she’s won awards, has a best selling book and consistently tops lists of the most influential YouTubers worldwide. Plus she’s got impressive family chops as well, as her brother is Joe Sugg, who we saw just a bit earlier.
• One thing I always like to mention about Zoella is her irrepressible charm. She’s always smiling and laughing - I defy you to find a still or video of her where she isn’t beaming.

Before we get to our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

#1: KSI
youtube.com/KSIOlajidebt

• Topping off our list is second half of the last sibling pair on our list, KSI, or JJ as his friends like to call him, is the brother of Deji who we also saw earlier.
• Essentially a let’s play channel, KSI plays a lot of FIFA and gets pretty worked up while doing it. Of course, as most ultra popular Youtuber tend to do, he’s now branched out into a number of other skits and guest appearances, all of which feature a fair amount of crude humor and high volume antics.
• Not one to rest on his laurels, KSI has also been branching out to new ventures lately, as evidenced by his first single, which you can also see on his channel, titled Lamborghini. It’s about his Lamborghini.
• Much like his brother Deji, KSI’s channel is fun to watch for the likeability of the host. He may be loud, but he’s also darn witty and his laugh is infectious. Also like his brother, my favorite videos are the ones where he tortures his parents. Have you shown your parent 2 girls 1 cup?

That’s it for our list, we hope you found it quite splendid. Be sure to vote on upcoming episodes on our suggest page, check us out on instagram, facebook and twitter, and for more great top 10s published every day, be sure to subscribe to watchmojo.com.
