Top 10 Greatest Captain America MCU Moments

When you've been a superhero for decades, you're bound to make a few enemies. Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we count down the Top 10 Captain America Enemies. For this list, we’re looking at some of the most memorable villains that have plagued Captain America. And sorry, Adolf, we’re sticking to the fictional ones; they’re less scary.

#10: Viper/Madame Hydra

Orphaned as a child, the little girl who became one of Cap’s greatest foes was raised as a weapon by HYDRA, the underground terrorist organization and became one of it’s leaders. She was presumed killed in an explosion, but returned to plague Captain America under a new identity, Viper. As Viper she became the leader of the criminal organization known as the Serpent Squad. Although she has no superpowers, this villainess has achieved peak physical perfection and has an array of weapons always at the ready.

#9: Baron von Strucker

Top 10 Sacha Baron Cohen Moments

A Nazi mastermind, Baron Wolfgang von Strucker became HYDRA’s supreme leader during the 1940s. Thanks to a special age-retarding drug, he was able to run HYDRA for decades. Von Strucker’s brilliance as a strategist has enabled Hydra to survive and grow despite the best efforts of Captain America and the rest of the Marvel Universe. He regularly eludes both superhero and death itself – bad news for Cap, but good news for those who like a good villain.

#8: Batroc

Sometimes known as “The Leaper,” Batroc is a French mercenary who has a demonstrated expertise in kickboxing. Batroc has honed his skills to such a degree that he can even give Captain America a run for the money. Leaping, kicking and striking with deadly accuracy, Batroc is a force to be reckoned with. But he’s not all bad; Batroc has a code of honor that he strives to maintain and he disdains other criminals who act without honor.

#7: Taskmaster

Some people say that the key to winning a fight is to know your enemies next move before they know it themselves. Taskmaster demonstrates this adage perfectly, as he has the ability to instantly copy and master the fighting techniques of his opponents. By studying Captain America and other heroes, he is able to predict how they will behave in a given fight – and therefore knows how to use their own moves against them. Taskmaster also started a program to train criminals, so if you were wondering where super villains get all their thugs, you have this guy to blame.

#6: M.O.D.O.K.

Also in:

When Did Captain America Become Worthy

An acronym for "Mental/Mobile/Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing" M.O.D.O.K. is as smart and dangerous as he is ugly. He was once an ordinary human who was mutated by the evil scientists of the terrorist organization AIM. MODOK quickly took control of AIM and his subsequent plans for massive destruction have made him a regular thorn in Cap’s side. The fact that Cap himself as a specimen of male beauty, all be it a little Dorito shaped, makes MODOK even more angry.

#5: Arnim Zola

One of the pioneers in genetic engineering, this Swiss scientist willingly teamed up with the Nazis in World War II and became an ally of the Red Skull. He worked on a number of genetic projects to create villains to do his and the Red Skull’s bidding, but his strangest project was himself. Using his superior knowledge and skills, Zola created a series of robot bodies with a holographic projection of his face into which he has placed his mind. If one is destroyed, another takes its place- meaning he can return to taunt Captain America again and again.

#4: Winter Soldier

Bucky Barnes was the youthful sidekick of Captain America during World War II. He was believed dead after an unsuccessful attempt to defuse a bomb near the Arctic. In fact, Bucky survived, although he lost an arm. Found by the Russians, he was outfitted with a superpowered bionic arm, then brainwashed to become a ruthless killing machine. As the Winter Solider, Bucky was a secret Soviet weapon of intense destruction. Fortunately, when sent after Captain America, he eventually recovered his memory and shook off the effects of his brainwashing.

#3: Crossbones

Originally a street gang member from New York, Crossbones became one of Taskmaster’s star pupils and eventually a teacher at his crime school. He eventually hooked up with the Red Skull, becoming one of his most valuable henchmen. Crossbones is most famous in the comic books for his more or less successful assassination of Captain America. A master marksman and fighter, Crossbones is a menace in the Marvel Universe, as he has no real allegiances other than to himself.

#2: Baron Zemo

Another brilliant Nazi foe of Ol’ Winghead’s, the sadistic Baron Heinrich Zemo was known for creating an array of nasty weapons – and trying them out on innocent victims. When his callousness resulted in the destruction of a whole German town, he began wearing a red hood to disguise himself. Unfortunately, while fighting Cap, one of his experiments, a new super adhesive, spilled on Zemo, permanently gluing the hood to his head. This made him even more insane and fueled his hatred for Captain America. That hatred lived on after his death, when his son took up the Baron Zemo name and continued battling Cap. Before we reveal our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions: Sin U.S. Agent Paladin Doctor Faustus Flag-Smasher

#1: The Red Skull

Top 10 Captain America Facts

Who else could top this list? The embodiment of Nazi hatred, the Red Skull is filled with a cold rage which motivates his plans to rule the world. Hitler personally trained the Skull, but even the Fuhrer himself was afraid of him. And what about that face? The origins of his Red Face has changed from time to time, but it is most commonly considered to be a side-effect of a knock-off Nazi version of Cap’s Super Soldier Serum. Whatever the reason, it just makes him hate the world even more. Ruthless, brilliant and madly determined, the Skull can be temporarily stopped but never defeated. Agree with our choices?
