These are the celebrities you forgot were in Mary-Kate and Ashley movies. Our countdown includes Eric McCormarck, Michael Cera, Eugene Levy, and more!

#10: Jane Sibbett “It Takes Two” (1995)

10 Movies You Didn't Know Were Inspired by Jane Austen

You probably remember that Kirstie Alley played Diane, Amanda’s social worker whom the girls try to set up with Alyssa’s dad, Roger. But what about Clarice Kensington, the snooty woman he is initially engaged to? Well, she was played by none other than Jane Sibbett, also known as Carol on “Friends’! Her character in “It Takes Two” is a woman from high society, uptight and absolutely insufferable. In other words, she’s nothing like the laid-back and caring Diane. Luckily, Amanda and Alyssa don’t stand for Clarice’s behavior. They take it upon themselves to make sure everyone ends up with their proper match, and become like sisters in the process.

#9: Jason Clarke “Our Lips Are Sealed” (2000)

Top 20 Badass Jason Statham Moments

When the Parker sisters accidentally foil a robbery, they draw the ire of criminal mastermind Emil Hatchew. As a result, the family is given new identities and put into Witness Protection. When they are sent to Australia, Hatchew sends Sidney and Mac after them. Jason Clarke, known for his antagonistic roles in films like “White House Down,” plays the latter character. Their mission is to retrieve the diamond from the robbery that the sisters don’t even realize they have. They pose as travel agents at the inn, but their ruse is short-lived. Neither Mac nor Sidney are a match for the twins, and they ultimately end up helping them beat Hatchew and return home.

#8: Eric McCormarck “Double, Double, Toil and Trouble” (1993)

When you picture Eric McCormack, you probably think of his outstanding work on “Will and Grace” as Will Truman himself. But years prior to landing that role, the actor actually starred in the Olsen twins’ Halloween movie “Double, Double, Toil and Trouble”. It tells the story of twins, Lynn and Kelly Farmer, who set off on a quest to save their Great-Aunt Sophia from a malediction their Great-Aunt Agatha inflicted on her years prior. What prompts them to do so is their desire to help their parents save their house. They are struggling to make ends meet, and Agatha won’t help. McCormack plays none other than Don Farmer, the girls’ father!

#7: Willie Garson “Our Lips Are Sealed” (2000)

Most people recognize Garson from “Sex and the City”, where he played Stanford Blatch. But his role in this Mary-Kate and Ashley movie is pretty different from the character you might associate him with. He plays Norm, one of the FBI agents on the Parker sisters’ Witness Protection case. The girls certainly don’t make his job easy, as they spill the beans about who they really are everywhere they go! They cause the lead agent on the case to take some time off, leaving Norm in charge. He makes it clear that Australia is their last chance. Except he’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, and his incompetence is actually what leads to the bad guys uncovering the family’s whereabouts!

#6: Austin Nichols “Holiday in the Sun” (2001)

Also in:

Jacob Elordi as Elvis in Priscilla (2023) VS Austin Butler as Elvis (2022)

Long before he won Brooke Davis’ heart as Julian Baker on “One Tree Hill”, Nichols was Griffen Grayson in “Holiday in the Sun”. In this film, his character is a slightly nerdy teenager whose family is friends with Alex and Madison’s. He’s pretty smitten over the latter sister, but she likes a guy named Scott. He’s more style than substance though, so Griffen tries to help him with everything, from cue cards to walkie talkies. At the same time, he and Madison start to bond. She finally realizes Scott isn’t right for her, and learns what Griffen did. Naturally, this leads to them finally becoming an item. It’s safe to say Austin Nichols has perfected the art of playing a love interest at this point.

#5: Troian Bellisario “Billboard Dad” (1998)

While the main plot of “Billboard Dad” revolves around Tess and Emily trying to find their dad a love match, there is a subplot that involves being on the diving team. Amongst the other members of the squad is a familiar face: Troian Bellisario! Before her big break, the actress behind smart perfectionist Spencer Hastings on “Pretty Little Liars” had a little role in this Mary-Kate and Ashley film as Kristen. We see her character laughing and gossiping with the others about the new kid. Interestingly, Bellisario revealed that the Olsen twins were once briefly her neighbors, so it was a reunion of sorts when she ended up getting a part in their movie!

#4: Jared Padalecki “New York Minute” (2004)

Also in:

Jared Leto to Star as Hugh Hefner in New PLAYBOY Biopic – The CineFiles Ep. 41

Padalecki is no stranger to playing heartthrobs. Of course, the “Supernatural” actor is one third of Rory's love interests in “Gilmore Girls” - albeit probably the least popular one. Well, the actor also played the charming Trey Lipton in "New York Minute". He meets Roxy and Jane when he finds them in his hotel room at the Plaza. It’s a memorable encounter to say the least, and it leaves him smitten with Roxy. That, coupled with the fact that the girls have to borrow his mom’s dog, leads to him looking for them throughout the movie. After a lot of shenanigans, including a kidnapping, he and Roxy are reunited!

#3: Michael Cera "Switching Goals" (1999)

Top 10 Reasons Why Michael Bay Movies Are Hated

Before rising to fame through roles in such projects as "Juno" and "Arrested Development", a young Michael Cera was in this Mary-Kate and Ashley flick about soccer, family, and sisterhood. He appears as an ill-mannered boy named Taylor shopping with his mom at Jerry’s House of Sports. And let’s just say he’s not exactly a friendly child. It’s fair to say that the salesman probably needed a real moment to unwind after that difficult (but entertaining) interaction! Of course, the cameo has nothing to do with the plot of the film itself, but it's worth it to see a tiny Michael Cera hilariously do his thing.

#2: Eugene Levy “New York Minute” (2004)

The legendary actor, back in the spotlight during the 2010s thanks to his portrayal of Johnny Rose on “Schitt’s Creek”, was Max Lomax in this 2004 movie. While Roxy and Jane are running around New York City, Lomax is running after them. He’s an officer from the Nassau County Department of Truancy who hopes to move up the ranks by catching Roxy. He is eventually redeemed and actually becomes friends with the girls, but not before we’re treated to a lot of hilarity and mischief! The actor certainly put his comedic prowess to good use here. And fans of “Schitt’s Creek” can spot John Hemphill, the actor behind Bob on the sitcom, in the movie alongside Levy as well. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. Jesse Spencer, “Winning London” (2001) This Australian Actor Played the Brit, Lord James Browning, Jr. Cloris Leachman, “Double, Double, Toil and Trouble” (1993) The Legendary Actress Pulled Double Duty as Both Aunt Agatha & Aunt Sophia Elizabeth Olsen, “How the West Was Fun” (1994) Mary-Kate & Ashley’s Sister Was the Girl in Car Rhea Perlman, “To Grandmother’s House We Go” (1992) The Actress Played a Bandit Named Shirley

#1: Megan Fox “Holiday in the Sun” (2001)

No good early 2000s movie would be complete without a rich and entitled mean girl trying to ruin everything. Megan Fox did a stellar job of bringing that character, named Brianna Wallace, to life here. Her character, of the Wallace Department Store dynasty, has a crush on the same boy as Alex: Jordan. She’s not someone who is used to being told no, which is exactly what happens here, as Jordan clearly isn’t that into her. Brianna is largely inconsequential in the grand scheme of the plot, but her over-the-top personality adds a memorable element to the movie. Plus, it’s always a treat seeing Fox bring mean girls to life on screen: “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen”, anyone?
