Top 10 Celebs With Crazy World Records
#10: Eminem
Marshall Mathers has been topping the music charts under his professional name, Eminem, since 1997. In that time, Eminem has won many awards and has shattered all kinds of records. He first entered the Guinness Book of World Records in 2000 by becoming the fastest selling rap artist ever. Since then, Eminem has broken thirteen more records. The strangest one, though, came in 2013 with the release of his Grammy-nominated single “Rap God.” Through his inhuman rhyming skills, Eminem managed to pack 1560 words into six minutes and four seconds. “Rap God” contains more words than any other hit single in modern music history.
#9: Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber managed to leverage a YouTube Channel into unparalleled success. Bieber became an incredibly successful solo artist. In fact, he became the first solo artist to achieve three number one albums before turning 18. That’s pretty incredible. Despite all that success, Bieber has long been a polarizing figure. Both his music and personal behavior have earned the singer the ire of the internet. In 2016, that enmity came full circle when Bieber broke a more ignominious record. The music video for his song “Baby,” originally released in 2010, became the most hated YoutTube video of all time. Though the record was broken a few years later, you have to wonder if that’s a former record that still haunts the Canadian pop star.
#8: Snoop Dogg
The paradise cocktail, officially recognized by the International Bartenders Association, has been around since 1930. If you are unfamiliar, you may recognize its more modern, popular name: gin and juice. The cocktail was thrust into the limelight thanks to rapper Snoop Dogg’s song “Gin and Juice” on his debut album in 1993. The rapper has since been known for his playful antics, and in 2018 he took them to the extreme. At the BottleRock Napa Valley Music Festival, Top Chef winner Michael Voltaggio invited the rapper on stage to make history. Snoop subsequently helped mix up the largest gin and juice in human history after mixing 180 bottles of gin with apricot brandy and orange juice.
#7: Vanna White
For forty years and counting, Vanna White has graced TV screens across America and the world on the game show “Wheel of Fortune.”. In 2013, representatives from Guinness surprised her with an amazing world record. During her then-30 seasons of “Wheel of Fortune,” they estimated that Vanna had clapped almost three and a half million times. In thirty years, she’d missed only ten episodes of the show. Since that record was earned a decade ago, as of 2023, she’s most certainly padded her record with many, many more rounds of applause. She deserves her own round of applause for that!
#6: Christopher Lee
Sir Christopher Lee was one of the most fascinating actors ever to grace the silver screen. And due to his incredibly long, varied and successful career, this legendary thespian garnered a plethora of records of varying kinds. He was the oldest voice actor to work on a video game. At the tender age of 91 he was also the oldest musician ever to hit the top 20 on the Billboard charts, with the release of the single “Jingle Hell.” Lee, a well-known sword expert, is also unofficially touted as having filmed more sword fights than any other actor. Now that’s an impressive list of achievements.
#5: The Rock
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, in addition to being one of the hardest working people in Hollywood, is famously generous both with his money and time. At the London premiere of his film, “San Andreas,” The Rock set out to prove it. While working the crowd of fans, the wrestler-turned Hollywood superstar set a record for the most selfies in three minutes. A queue of fans played along, and when all was said and done the Rock racked up 105 selfies. While that record was later broken, The Rock and his team - holds another record. In 2017, they managed to build the world’s largest seven layer dip.
#4: Beyoncé
Let’s be real for a second: she needs no world records to pad her resume - she is Queen Bey. Needing them or not, though, Beyoncé holds more than a few. It should come as no surprise that Beyoncé is the absolute queen of the Grammys. She’s won the most Grammy awards ever, as well as the most won by a vocalist. She has also had the most Grammy nominations for Record of the Year. Bey is also the first - and as of now, only - artist to have every one of her first seven solo albums debut at number one. Now that’s success.
#3: Jackie Chan
Jackie Chan started out as a Hong Kong cinema child actor in 1962. By 1971, he had graduated to martial arts films. The following year he worked as a stuntman in Bruce Lee’s “Fist of Fury,” and has never looked back. In fifty years, Chan has appeared in over 150 films. In 2016, he was the second highest paid actor on earth. But second place doesn’t fit the greatest stunt actor in film. For over a decade, Chan has held and added to his record of the most stunts ever by a living actor. Chan has spent half a century entertaining audiences around the world, putting his life and health on the line. If anyone deserves to hold this record forever, it’s Jackie Chan.
#2: Twenty One Pilots
In 2013, Pharrell released his insanely catchy song, “Happy.” The song debuted with the world’s first 24-hour music video, which shattered the previous record of just under 40 minutes. The record lasted for seven years until the band Twenty One Pilots did something completely and utterly amazing. They attempted to create a never-ending music video. They invited their fans to upload fan-created videos to their website to go with their song, “Level of Concern.” The videos were stitched together on a YouTube livestream while “Level of Concern” played on a never-ending loop. The result is a music video that lasted for a mind boggling 4,264 hours. The video played unceasingly for 177 days, 16 hours, 10 minutes and 25 seconds.
#1: Metallica
For forty years, the legendary Metallica has stayed at the forefront of music. They achieved mainstream success and became ensconced in pop culture. But Metallica has never stagnated, always looking to the future, including partnering in 1999 with the San Francisco Symphony to combine symphonic music with metal. And in December 2013, Metallica set a huge world record. They performed an hour-long show, “Freeze ‘Em All,” for 120 scientists and contest winners at Carlini Station, Antarctica. That performance made Metallica the first, and so far only, musical act to perform on every continent on earth. And they’ve rocked every one.
