Top 10 Characters Who Can Regenerate

When you hang around a raccoon, a warrior and Chris Pratt, you might find yourself getting in a bit of trouble. Luckily, Groot, a treelike humanoid, is able to grow back lost body parts and survive being used as a crash shield. In “Guardians of the Galaxy,” Rocket’s accomplice finds himself going up against space prisoners, space soldiers and gravity. Yet, as long as there’s a pot of soil around, Groot will not only survive, but is even able to bust a move to the Jackson 5.

Okay, this monster is technically from ancient Greek mythology and has been around for thousands of years. But we all remember it best from Disney’s “Hercules.” And this dude is scary. Basically a giant snake, in this version the monster possesses the advantage that when one of its heads is cut off, it grows more back. Completely invincible to any head injury, your best bet to try and fight it is to crush it or maybe trick its heads into bickering with each other.

You know you’re pretty tough when you’re willing to go up against Wesley Snipes. But Deacon Frost seems to have what it takes, mainly because he has the power of healing through terrible special effects. Okay, the healing power actually arrives because he becomes one with La Magra, the vampire god. This gives him the ability to grow back body parts and completely reassemble his torso. It’s a shame the powers couldn’t save him in the end though.

This monster began his life as a man, specifically the high priest under the rule of Pharaoh Seti I. But he started an affair with the Pharaoh’s mistress, which is never a smart move. This sets in motion a series of events including the Pharaoh’s murder, the mistress’ suicide and Imhotep being cursed and buried alive in a state of living death. The curse seems to backfire though, because 3 thousand years later, Imhotep is awakened as a mummy and finds he has the powers of invincibility, regeneration and, to turn himself into sand. Like Sandman, but actually threatening. Although he gets beaten by Brendan Fraser – twice - he’s still a terrifying baddie that is almost impossible to kill.

After his mother is eaten by a massive Titan, Eren Yeager vows revenge. During a military mission, a Titan swallows the human Eren whole while he was trying to save his friend. He then transforms him into a 49-foot Titan himself, who completely ignores humans and battles other titans while in this form. While the transformation was only temporary, Yeager now has the power to change in and out of titan form, during which time he has the same healing powers as the other titans.

Appearing in more “Heroes” episodes than any other character, Claire Bennet developed a cult following among the show’s fan base. And with good reason. On top of being a cute cheerleader, Claire also has the power of rapid cell regeneration. This means she can heal wounds at a rapid pace and survive things that would kill most people. Although not hundreds of years old like her fellow healer Adam Monroe, she definitely kicks just as much ass (if not more!).

The Son of King Piccolo, Piccolo is a Namekian. This means he is an alien from the planet Namek. And that means that he has super good hearing, extra hard skin and regeneration abilities. Thanks to this, Piccolo is one of the most powerful beings in “Dragonball Z” and, on top of that, he’s an expert strategist. Since the supervillain Cell is composed of cells of various lifeforms, Piccolo included – and thus has his regenerative abilities, it’s Piccolo himself that makes our list, since he’s the original and the coolest.

After “The Terminator,” people thought that time-travelling killer robots couldn’t get any cooler. But the T-1000 in “T2” put that thought to the test. Made of liquid metal, the T-1000 can take almost any damage, simply molding itself back to shape after injury. This comes in handy for the advanced Terminator prototype, especially when he comes up against Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800. Okay, not quite handy enough, but still - the T-1000 was an extremely memorable villain and a great addition to a fantastic franchise.

The Doctor is part of an alien species that is able to regenerate up to 12 times before experiencing a permanent death. He also happens to be one of only two remaining Time Lords, with the other being his arch nemesis The Master. Of course, “Doctor Who” fans will know that there have already been all 12 regenerations. Don’t worry though, with the show more popular than ever, writer Steven Moffatt has promised fans that there is a loophole. Either way, The Doctor is an iconic regenerating hero.

This ability makes him bulletproof, atomic bomb-proof and able to regularly take on the Hulk. More powerful than his brother Sabretooth, and more sane than his X Force teammate Deadpool, Wolverine is the toughest healing mutant out there.
