Top 10 Cute But Dangerous Characters
#10: Starfire
“Teen Titans” (2003-06)
Starfire’s adorableness is undeniable, but her limited knowledge about earth makes her even more endearing. She’s always so excited to learn new things and has this sweet innocence about her. Despite this, she’s probably the most powerful teen titan! Starfire herself has said she’s stronger than she looks and, boy, is she right. Not only is she relatively invulnerable, but she can also fly, blast powerful energy bolts from her hands, and shoot laser beams from her eyes–among other things. Honestly, it’s kind of a miracle any of the others kept up with her!
#9: Unikitty
“The LEGO Movie” franchise (2014-) & “Unikitty!” (2017-20)
Unikitty is a pink unicorn-cat hybrid with the voice of sunshine and the personality of rainbows–metaphorically speaking, of course, but, honestly, it’s not that far off. She’s very protective of those she loves and is always striving to stay positive. But she also channels all of us happy-go-lucky folks with short fuses. When she’s angry, Unikitty has the ability to transform into Angry Kitty, Super Angry Kitty, Warrior Kitty, and UltraKatty, among other forms. And, trust us, she is not to be messed with when she’s upset! Seriously, have you seen her transformations?!
#8: Toothless
“How to Train Your Dragon” franchise (2010-19)
Dragons in the “How to Train Your Dragon” universe are pretty much the equivalent of really big dogs. Who can fly. And breathe fire. Toothless is a Night Fury, which not only made him feared among Berkian Vikings for a long time, but also makes him one of the rarest dragons in the “HTTYD” world. In the third movie installment, Toothless would become the alpha of all Berkian dragons, which is kind of a big deal. When Toothless isn’t in fight (or flight) mode, he’s as playful as a puppy, and as cute as one too! It’s the eyes, right? And, like, the ears? So freakin’ adorable!
#7: Baby Doll
DC Comics (1937-)
Baby Doll is probably one of Batman’s most underrated villains. Not only because she doesn’t get a lot of screen time in DC media, but also because she and Bruce have an interesting narrative parallel. Where Batman didn’t get much of a childhood, Baby Doll (or Mary Louise Dahl) is forever trapped in hers. She’s an actress born with a rare condition that keeps her from aging, which means she’s pretty aware of her strengths as a supervillain. In addition to her deceptive nature, she’s also quite the fan of dynamite and other weapons often disguised as baby toys.
#6: Dawn Bellwether
“Zootopia” (2016)
Talk about a wolf in sheep’s clothing! When Assistant Mayor Bellwether was first introduced, we really felt for her. She was clearly very overworked and underappreciated by her boss, to say the least. Let this be a warning to be respectful to others, because this is a villain origin story that’s beginning to sound increasingly familiar! After years of discrimnation and disrespect, Dawn Bellwether grows vengeful and nearly manages to turn all of Zootopia’s prey against its predators. And she would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for that meddling cop and con-artist!
#5: Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear
“Toy Story 3” (2010)
Despite Lotso having the appearance of a charming, fuzzy, huggable bear, and radiating the most immaculate grandfather energy, his conniving nature makes him super dangerous. He’s introduced as the welcoming, benevolent head-man-in-charge of Sunnyside Daycare, but, really, he rules the whole place like a tyrannical prison guard. Lotso is a prime example of the concept ‘hurt people hurt people’, and the proof is in just how many times he betrays the “Toy Story” gang and the people closest to him. Don’t let the strawberry scent fool ya, this teddy bear is nowhere near sweet!
#4: Blossom, Bubbles, & Buttercup Utonium
“The Powerpuff Girls” franchise (1998-2019)
Okay, you guys have seen the size of the Powerpuff Girls, right?! Like, we know they are kindergarteners but they’re so ridiculously tiny! Their size, high voices, and pigtails make them absolutely adorable, but do not be mistaken, they kick some major villain butt! And they do it barely pulling a sweat! In case you were unclear about their superabilities, their powers include but are not limited to: flight, superhuman strength, superhuman speed, x-ray vision, red heat vision, and energy projection. In the original version of the pilot, Professor Utonium accidentally dropped in “a can of Whoopass”, but it was later changed to “Chemical X”. To be honest, we kind of prefer the can of Whoopass!
#3: Toph Beifong
“Avatar: The Last Airbender” (2005-08)
Toph’s whole thing is using her appearance to her advantage, and she teaches absolutely everyone who underestimates her a very important lesson. At just 12 years old, it’s pretty hard to deny how cute Toph is, but she’s also the strongest earth and, later, metal bender in “Avatar: The Last Airbender”. The fact that she’s blind makes watching her absolutely decimate anyone who crosses her the wrong way that much better! We can’t mention the “ATLA” franchise and strong characters without also mentioning Aang. If his love of penguin sledding didn’t convince you of his adorableness, we’re not sure what will! Still, you probably wouldn’t want to get on his bad side, especially when he’s in the Avatar state.
#2: Jack-Jack Parr
“The Incredibles” franchise (2004-2018)
Babies are cute but Jack-Jack's deadly powers are not. We’re talking about a kid who can literally turn into a demon baby, here. And that’s before he can even talk! Jack-Jack not only has a whole laundry list of different powers–including polymorphing, dimension-hopping, phasing through walls, duplication, and laser vision–but he also seems to know exactly when to use them. We have no doubt he’ll be the most powerful Parr when he grows up! In the meantime though, he’s single handedly defeated a raccoon, a supervillain, and a babysitter. Okay, maybe Kari didn’t deserve all that, but Syndrome? Yeah, he definitely had what was coming to him.
Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
Princess Bubblegum, “Adventure Time” (2010-18)
She’s Both Literally & Figuratively Sweet, but Also a Lady of War
Perry the Platypus, “Phineas and Ferb” (2007-15)
His Little Paws! That He Can Use to Knock You Out…
Bunnicula, “Bunnicula” (2016-19)
Bunny Rabbits Are Cute… Vampires, Not So Much!
Rufus, “Kim Possible” (2002-07)
Adorable Animal Sidekick but Will Bite You to Death
#1: Puss in Boots
“Shrek” franchise (2001-)
It’s amazing how a good chunk of the characters on this list know just how powerful cuteness can be, and Puss in Boots is right there with them! You guys have seen the meme right? Puss is a character who sometimes uses his cute cat body to his advantage but, when that fails, he has his adept swordsman skills to fall back on. Puss in Boots was once the protector of San Lorenzo and also an assassin, so he’s definitely not to be messed with. If you have a cat at home, you can probably attest to this, even if your own kitty isn’t trained in combat.
