Top 10 Disney Characters We Want to Be Friends With
VOICE OVER: Jennifer Silverman WRITTEN BY: Gia Bradford
We ain't never had a friend like these! Welcome to MsMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the Disney characters we'd love to have as besties. Our countdown includes characters from movies “The Emperor's New Groove”, “Mulan”, “Tangled” and more!

Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Disney characters we’d love to have as besties. Which Disney character would you want to hang with? Let us know in the comments down below.

#10: Olaf

“Frozen” (2013)
He might be made of snow, but his heart is nothing but warm! Anna’s journey to find her sister wouldn’t have been the same without this lovable snowman. His vibrant energy is so contagious, we can easily imagine him turning our frowns upside down. He might not be the smartest fella in Arendelle, but he’s a reliable friend. He’s willing to sacrifice himself so that Anna can save Elsa. His naïve desire to appreciate summer becomes a reality when Elsa creates a snow cloud to shadow him so he can enjoy the warmer season. We’re clearly not the only ones who appreciate him!

#9: Rapunzel

“Tangled” (2010)
Despite being kept in a tower for 18 years, Rapunzel is the ultimate optimist. She’s a ray of sunshine who is loved by pretty much everyone she meets. But even though she’s super positive, the girl knows how to keep it real. She’s never afraid to put Flynn Rider in his place when he's being too smug. Having a friend who can be honest yet kind is a wonderful combo. And let’s not forget her awesome moves with a frying pan. If we ever had a home invader, we know which pal would lead the fight.

#8: Sebastian

“The Little Mermaid” (1989)
If you’ve lived your entire life under the sea, you might expect to make a lot of mistakes if you start to live like a human. Thankfully, Ariel has this feisty crab to help guide her. We get it, sometimes the truth hurts. But we need someone in our lives who won’t sugarcoat the reality of situations. He even puts himself in harm’s way to continue looking out for Ariel, having to evade the seafood-obsessed Chef Louis. Sebastian will stay by your side through thick and thin and support you, even if you make mistakes along the way. Plus, the crab can really pull together a musical number.

#7: Merida

“Brave” (2012)
Being Pixar’s first female protagonist comes with a lot of pressure, both within the film and in the real world. Yet this member of the royal family is the perfect example of being a total girlboss. Inspiring people all over the world, Princess Merida shows us that everyone is capable of defying societal norms and chasing their dreams. It can be hard navigating a world that tells you who you should be. But if this amazing archer was our friend, we know she’d never let us stray from our authentic selves. Her conviction would remind us just how strong we are.

#6: Mushu

“Mulan” (1998)
Child duties include helping your aging parents, taking care of the family business, and saving your entire country. Okay, maybe that last part is just something Mulan had to deal with — but still! Talk about a stressful scenario. Have no fear, Mushu is here. With his hilarious one liners, this scrawny dragon manages to make even the most dire situations more lighthearted. When we go through dark times, we’d love to have Mushu around to put a smile on our faces. Although he may stir up drama at times, we know he always means well!

#5: Wade Ripple

“Elemental” (2023)
Keeping your emotions in check while you try to save your father’s struggling business is no easy task. Ember’s outbursts in “Elemental” are probably relatable to a lot of people — which is why we could all use a friend like Wade. In contrast to the fire element’s flaming passion, Wade’s watery persona is a calming force. He is supportive and non-judgmental. In a city that doesn’t fully accept her kind, it’s heartening to meet someone who is there to help. He wears his heart on his sleeve and isn’t afraid to shed tears. What a sweetie!

#4: Baymax

“Big Hero 6” (2014)
People like Honey Lemon would obviously make good friends because of their bright demeanor. Who would've thought a marshmallow look-alike would make one too? Originally designed as a healthcare robot, Baymax takes his job seriously. He can address any medical issue you might face, whether your problem is physical or emotional. After the loss of his brother, Hiro finds it challenging to navigate such an unimaginable period of his life. To his surprise, Baymax turns out to be one of the reasons he can move forward. The genuine friendship he builds with the robot is a heartwarming testament to the power of helping others.

#3: Pacha

“The Emperor’s New Groove” (2000)
Imagine if an authority figure wanted to destroy your home for his own personal gain. But before he has a chance to put his plan in motion, he’s magically transformed into a llama. You might feel relieved — maybe even excited. Unless you’re Pacha, who sees the good in everyone. The family man goes as far as helping Kuzco turn back into a human. He’s the epitome of kindheartedness. Being friends with someone who patiently helps you address your flaws is beautiful. The village leader is a rare gem who we’d be lucky to know.

#2: Genie

“Aladdin” (1992)
If we had three wishes, one of them would definitely be to have this magical being as our BFF. How he’s always able to come up with such entertaining comments is beyond us. His dramatic flair means there would never be a dull moment hanging out together. Beyond his comedic chops, the Genie also has an abundance of wisdom and gives valuable advice. We all need a friend who will tell it like it is. And in case you need any more convincing, he even sings an entire banger about how good of a pal he is.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

David Kawena, “Lilo & Stitch” (2002)

Nani’s Boyfriend Is Caring and Loyal

Roquefort, “The Aristocats” (1970)

This Mouse Will Do Whatever It Takes to Protect His Loved Ones

Goofy, Various

Never a Dull Moment with This Dog

Quasimodo, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” (1996)

His Loyalty and Heart Will Always Save the Day

Mirabel, “Encanto” (2021)

Her Empathy Would Be a Great Quality in a Pal

#1: Charlotte La Bouff

“The Princess and the Frog” (2009)
Sometimes money changes people for the worse. That certainly doesn’t apply to this mademoiselle. She might start out a bit spoiled, but she still cares a lot for her friend Tiana. If you’re feeling tired, her enthusiasm will lift your spirits right up. Her southern charm will have you giggling and kicking your feet. She’s also the ultimate hype woman, down to support you in all of your endeavors. She’s even willing to give up her chance at becoming a princess to help Tiana find love. Oh, what we’d give to have her as a friend!
