Top 10 Dragon Ball Transformations We’re Still Waiting to See

Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 10 Dragon Ball Transformations We’re Still Waiting to See.

For this list, we’re looking at the forms across Dragon Ball media that have yet to make an appearance in the canon anime. This includes transformations that as of now are manga-only, as well non canon forms found in spin off series and video games. As such, be on the lookout for some MAJOR spoilers ahead.

Think we glossed over an essential, yet to be seen Saiyan state? Let us know in the comments!

#10: Super Saiyan God Trunks

Yeah, fair warning, a number of these are going to come straight out of Dragon Ball Heroes – as well as the TV series made to promote the game that’s built on the question – what crazy, fanfiction transformations can we get away with? Among them, this is one of our favorites. Mainly because Trunks has consistently pulled off some of the best transformations in the franchise, so if there was anyone worthy of going red, it’s him! The man sliced up Zamasu, that’s got to make him worthy of some manner of potential godhood.

#9: Golden Cooler

Given what the series did to reinvent Broly as a layered character, there’s no reason why the same can’t be done for Frieza’s overshadowed older brother. Especially if he was given an equally radiant final form. While fans speculated that Cooler’s ultimate state would be silver or platinum, Dragon Ball Heroes instead gave him the same golden sheen as his brother, and you know what? It totally works! If it weren’t for Freiza recently attaining a certain dark evolution in the manga, we’d say Cooler could have had every chance to prove himself the superior sibling with this golden do-over.

#8: Adult Gotenks

The first Saiyan fusion in all of Dragon Ball, Gotenks has become…somewhat redundant ever since he had his clash with Majin Buu all those years ago, easily surpassed by the likes of Vegito and Gogeta. An easy way to fix that? An adult version! While GT skipped out on the opportunity, seeing a much more mature Gotenks would be a treat. His portrayal in Dragon Ball Heroes displayed just how beastly he could be, especially as he utilizes both Trunk’s sword as well his Super Saiyan 3 form. Never thought we’d say it – but we want to see more of this fusion!

#7: Super Saiyan 4 Gohan

This GT exclusive form hasn’t seen a lot of love in recent years, especially with the likes of Blue taking over as the de facto strongest Saiyan form. That being said – Gohan pulls off the pink-haired ape look astoundingly well! Granted, his Beast Form makes any chance of him tapping into SS4 right out the window, but from a purely aesthetic standpoint, as they showed off in Dragon Ball Heroes, it’s a pretty slick design. Guess this means we’ll never get to see him go all out with the Masenko x 10.

#6: Dark Demon God Buu

Because Kid Buu obviously wasn’t enough of a menace – now he’s got battle armor and a sword. Essentially, this is what happens when Buu goes back to his absorbing ways, and gets his hands on the likes of Dabura and Janemba of all people. The result is the ultimate evil getting himself a brand-new wardrobe, along with the powers of hell and ability to create portals, which in turn can summon unholy weaponry right out of the netherworld. So basically Buu can now wipe out planets and astral planes of existence. Goes to show just how potent that absorbing power truly was.

#5: Legendary Evil Saiyan

It might sound generic as all hell, but knowing Toriyama, he could probably put a good spin on this! Essentially the antithesis of the golden locks we all know and love, the Evil Saiyan radiates dark energy whilst retaining an appearance similar to a Super Saiyan 3, with the power to match. Dragon Ball Heroes made this from famous with the introduction of original Saiyan villain Cumber, who used it as his primary transformation. If it were to ever make the jump to the mainstream, it might fit better with a pre-established bad guy, perhaps someone like Turles? It’s been a hot minute since we saw him, when is THAT Goku clone getting the canon treatment?

#4: Super Saiyan Rose 3

Super Saiyan Rose is one of the least explored among the pantheon of power scaled hairdos. We may have seen the end of Goku Black, but if he were somehow able to return, this would be a neat upgrade for him to achieve. Sure, it somewhat begets the question “if Rose can go up to 3, why can’t Blue?” and to that we say – Dragon Ball Heroes – they do whatever the hell they want. Regardless, a longer-haired Rose just looks awesome. Imagine Goku Black rearing for a rematch looking like a rejected member of a glam metal band! Who needs Zamasu when you’ve got those locks?

#3: Black Frieza

From riches to rags to riches once more, it seems that the intergalactic tyrant is finally ready to take back the mantle of Dragon Ball’s most powerful villain. After finding a hyperbolic time chamber, Frieza put himself through ten years of intense training. The result? A form that not only made Golden Frieza look like a cheap knock off, but was able to take out both Goku and Vegeta simultaneously – while they were in their Ultra states! The best part? This absolute beast of a transformation is manga canon, which means it's not a case of if we’ll ever see Black Frieza in an anime adaptation, but when.

#2: Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta

It’s well documented by now that Vegeta…somewhat skipped a step before landing himself the power of a Super Saiyan God. We’ve seen him go through every shade of Saiyan imaginable, except for the third stage. And while he’s been rocking Super Saiyan Blue like no other, it’s a shame that we didn’t get to see Vegeta get those all-important golden hair extensions. Naturally, that’s where Dragon Ball Heroes came in, who gave the prince his time to shine. No eyebrows, no problem.

#1: Ultra Ego

Goku had his Ultra Instinct moment and it broke the internet, now it’s time to put the spotlight back on our boy Vegeta. So, what is this form and how did the Prince of Saiyan attain it? He only went and became a God of Destruction! Similar to what Toppo went through, Vegeta is able to attain a state of being that it’s on the verge of rivaling Beerus and his brood. The only downside? Much like Ultra Instinct, it can fail if one loses the correct mindset, and in this form, it thrives on Vegeta’s ego and bloodlust. Imagine a slightly less evil Majin Vegeta with the power of a deity. Now that’s epic.
