Top 10 Batman Arkham Easter Eggs

Gotham is pretty dark, so you might some help lighting up these hidden surprises. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’ll be counting down the Top 10 Batman Arkham Easter Eggs.

For this list, we’ll be searching through the Batman Arkham game series to find the best-concealed goodies we can find. There are A LOT of easter eggs, but these are the ones we feel stood out the most… you know, without actually standing out. Keep in mind that some of the easter eggs are tied to the story, so a spoiler warning is in effect.

#10: Harley Has a Baby

“Batman: Arkham City” (2011)

To say Harley is in love with the mad clown himself would be a bit of an understatement. Her obsession with Joker goes into a much deeper and more obsessive behavior, wanting not just him, but to be a mother as well. After you beat Arkham City, you can revisit Joker’s hideout and explore, inside you’ll find several failed pregnancy tests, but after more exploration, you can find one lone box and test strip… reading positive. While the box says “may show false positive” it was enough to send theorists and fans in a craze to know if the crazy ex-psychiatrist was, in fact, carrying Joker’s child.

#9: Where it Began

“Batman: Arkham City” (2011)

By now, most people know of Batman’s tragic backstory - the death of his parents in an alley, killed before his very eyes when he was just a child. It was the moment that would change Bruce Wayne’s life, leading him down the path to eventually become the caped crusader of Gotham City. In Arkham City, while you're forced to revisit that painful memory by Scarecrow, you can also can visit the theater that he went to that fateful night any time you want in the open world. In the alleyway, you’ll find two chalk outlines of his parents’ bodies, along with a tape from Hugo Strange, as well as a note that reads “it will end where it began.”

#8: Starro Locked in Tank

“Batman: Arkham Knight” (2015)

Starro may not be well-known, but he is a major antagonist to the DC superhero team; the Justice League. An alien who looks an awful like a starfish, this giant has proven to be near unstoppable on many occasions, using its mind-control powers to give the DC superheroes a run for their money. In the Arkham Knight Batgirl DLC, you find a ventilation shaft between the Ferris wheel and Great White, leading to a hidden room where the all-powerful villain is seen locked up in a containment chamber, with documents describing his powers. Seems kind of dangerous to leave such a creature near a public area.

#7: Bane’s Suit

“Batman: Arkham Knight” (2015)

Antonio Ramirez, commonly known as Bane, is an intelligent man. He has on more than one occasion been on par and even bested the Dark Knight, but his addiction to the enhancing Venom tends to be his downfall. While he may be absent in Arkham Knight, his suit can be found locked up in a crate. According to the Gotham City Story entry titled “Homecoming,” after being locked up and having his TITAN supply destroyed by Batman in “Arkham City,” Bane returned to Santa Prisca looking to turn over a new leaf and take down the drug lords that had infected the area with violence and chaos.

#6: Clayface Presents

“Batman: Arkham Origins” (2013)

Clayface fooled millions of players in Arkham City, pretending to be the joker until his big theatrical reveal. Basil Karlo, Clayface’s true identity, is no stranger to putting on a new face and pretending to be other people, which is made easier with his shape-shifting abilities. Of course, before he put on the performance of a lifetime, he could be found doing impressions throughout Gotham. Hidden around Origins are posters of Basil Karlo’s impressionist shows. Perhaps Batman should have gone to see it… maybe then he could’ve seen through Clayface’s disguise.

#5: Birds of Prey Group Chat

“Batman: Arkham Knight” (2015)

In the Gotham Clock Tower in Oracle’s server room, you can find a curious message board under the title ‘Birds of Prey.’ Oracle may be highly intelligent, but this was a pretty careless mistake leaving this open. Started by Oracle herself, the Birds of Prey is a superheroine team which started with two other members; Huntress and Black Canary. As you can see on the screen, it seems like they’ve been active for some time, though maybe they should use something other than an online message board to converse.

#4: Calendar Man in the Courthouse

“Batman: Arkham City” (2011)

This easter egg is impressive with how well it is hidden, as rather than a hidden location, it’s hidden by time. Speaking to the Calendar Man on certain holidays will trigger new dialogue from the serial killer, mostly taunting Batman. But it isn’t just the ordinary holidays that make Calendar Man talk. By setting the clock to December 13, 2004, you’ll trigger some very interesting dialogue about Calendar Man’s “early days” - for this date is the day Rocksteady was founded. Of course, Calendar Man wouldn’t be the last villain Rocksteady would surprise players with on a holiday...

#3: Ace The Bat-Hound Dog Bowl

“Batman: Arkham Knight” (2015)

Batman has gone through a sidekick or two… okay, way more than two. Fans of the dark knight can easily recall Robin and Batgirl, but what about The Bat-Hound? Going all the way back to the 1950s, you’ll find this curious mutt helping out Batman and friends take down crime. While not seen in media as much in recent years, if you look down in Bruce Wayne’s office, you’ll see the original Bat-Hound Ace’s dog bowl -seems like man’s best friend is still helping him out.

#2: Foreboding Painting

“Batman: Arkham City” (2011)

SPOILER ALERT! No seriously, this was one easter egg that left fans dumbstruck after beating Arkham City. At the very beginning of the Catwoman DLC -and the Game of the Year edition, we can see a large painting of biblical sons Cain and Abel -children of Adam and Eve. In the Bible, Cain killed his brother, Abel, marking Cain and forcing him to live with his horrible deed for the rest of his life. Batman and Joker have been described as yin and yang in many ways; and like the painting, Batman is seen at the end carrying Joker’s lifeless body, knowing he must now live with the guilt.

#1: Arkham City Blueprints/Sharp’s Secret Office

“Batman: Arkham Asylum” (2009)

Rocksteady LOVES to tease their fans with what’s coming next, and in this case, they teased an entire game! Deep in the Arkham Mansion in Warden Sharp’s office, there is a wall that, when destroyed, reveals a hidden secondary office -it seems Batman isn’t the only one with a secret hideout. At first glance, you may not see much, but one look at the blueprints will reveal the Warden’s plan for Arkham City, the next game in the series. Not too many gave thought to the possible sequel, but it is amazing to see a dev practically spoil their sequel in such a manner.
