Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the most creative and breathtaking looks presented during finales of “RuPaul’s Drag Race”. Spoilers will be mentioned, so this is your official warning!

#10: Kerri Colby

Season 14
Winning isn’t the only way to leave your mark. Kerri Colby’s importance on the show goes beyond challenges. By living as her authentic self, she inspired some of her fellow contestants to embrace their own gender identities. It ended up becoming a meme within the community, with Colby even calling herself “Tranos.” She referenced the fandom-wide bit at the finale when she strutted down the runway in a look inspired by the Marvel villain. The golden bodysuit and cape already made for a great homage. The mock infinity gauntlet was the cherry on top. It was a flawless combination of glamour and comedy, all while serving as a nod to her influence.

#9: Mistress Isabelle Brooks

Season 15
Throughout her tenure on the show, one thing was guaranteed: she would always turn out a look of the highest caliber. Mistress Isabelle Brooks was known for her shade and her commitment to high drag – two things that helped her reach the top four on season 15. For the finale, she pulled out all the stops, arriving in a striking red gown adorned with gold detailing. Every aspect of the garment, from the dress itself to her wig and makeup, was gorgeous. Not a single hair was out of place. It was the very definition of old-school pageantry and opulence. Even though she went home without the crown that night, it was a perfect way to close out her run.

#8: Crystal Methyd

Season 12
While it’s always appreciated, a queen doesn’t have to go full glamour to steal the spotlight. Crystal Methyd – who’d already been known for out-of-the-box runways – proved this when she appeared at season 12’s Zoom finale dressed as a piñata. The brightly colored, larger-than-life costume was a complete surprise. She even dragged it up by adding an eyelash– keeping it on theme in the cheekiest way possible. It also provided some much needed levity at the time, with both the pandemic and Sherry Pie’s disqualification looming over the season. Crystal’s look was a perfect reminder to focus on the brighter aspects of life. While she didn’t win the competition, she did win fans’ hearts.

#7: Symone

Season 14
With this appearance, she completely redefined what a previous winner’s step down look could be. Up until season 14, the reigning queen would normally pass down the sceptre in a classically gorgeous gown. Symone turned that concept on its head by hitting the stage in a dragged up pair of jeans and a crop top. Though it seemed like a simple concept, it was a stellar, elevated take on an average everyday outfit. She looked like the very definition of Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent. It was a perfect juxtaposition to her goddess-inspired regalia from her crowning the year before, showing both off her versatility and willingness to take risks.

#6: Jaida Essence Hall

Season 12
Even the limitations set by a Zoom call couldn’t dim her sparkle. Before snatching the crown at the end of the night, Jaida Essence Hall first stunned the audience, both with her lip sync performances and her perfectly-executed finale ensemble. She commanded the camera’s attention in a large, flowing ball gown fixed with a breathtaking galaxy-inspired fascinator. It was an elevation on her previously showcased pageant aesthetic, helping her hold her own amongst some of her more avant-garde competitors. With style like this, it's no wonder she went on to win later that night– and cement herself as an underrated fashion queen.

#5: Sasha Colby

Season 15
When you’re regarded as an icon within the art form, there are plenty of expectations to always turn out a breathtaking look. To some, this would be a daunting task– but Sasha Colby executed it with ease. She arrived at the season 15 finale looking like the very picture of glamour. Her bejeweled scarlet dress and matching accessories easily captured viewers’ attention, keeping all eyes on her. It was inspired by a mid-2000s collection from Christian Dior, emulating the iconic fashion house with her own twist. As soon as she hit the stage in the extravagant ensemble, it was clear she’d be going home with the title and even more respect from her peers.

#4: Detox

Season 5
Presenting a look that’s had a lasting impact for over a decade is no small feat. Yet to this day, no contestant has come close to what Detox achieved at the season five reunion/finale. She turned heads as soon as she arrived, painted completely grey. It was like they had stepped out of a classic Hollywood film. The illusion was epic, with everything from the mug to the seemingly simple garment working in harmony. Whether Detox was on the red carpet or under the stage lights, not a single detail was out of place, cementing them as one of the best at their craft. It was the perfect way for her to stand out, even if she was no longer in contention for the crown.

#3: Sasha Velour

Season 10
Sometimes, the best looks come from unexpected places. While Sasha displayed a keen sense of style on her own season, she went above and beyond when it came time to present the season 10 crown. Rather than opt for a traditional gown, she hit the stage in a fully-embellished jumpsuit. The elongated alien-esque head, combined with the religious imagery of the snake and apple, made for a breathtaking juxtaposition, amazing the crowd and at-home viewers alike. It was a love letter to the art form and community as a whole, as she personified a vision for what drag could eventually become.

#2: Gottmik

Season 13
Given her work during the season, finale expectations were high. Gottmik easily surpassed them. Before the winner of season 13 was announced, the top four were tasked with presenting three final looks. Gottmik understood the assignment at every turn. She kicked things off on a high note, drawing attention with her Pinhead-inspired garment for the Black & White category. However, her best was her Grand Finale Extravaganza piece. She wore a majestic blue gown adorned with a golden rib cage. The pièce de résistance was a Swarovski recreation of a human heart on her chest. She held her own compared to Symone who ended up winning later that night, proving her salt as a style icon.

#1: Violet Chachki

Season 8
Even after all these years, no one has come close to topping Violet. Miss Chachki had jaws dropping as soon as she stepped on the stage at the season 8 finale. Decked out in a gorgeous, intricate dress, she was the very definition of opulence. She was snatched to the gods, with a waist so cinched it was practically invisible. Even more impressive was the headpiece that seemed to be growing out of her scalp. She stole the show completely, even taking some attention away from the top three. The fact that she managed to outdo her own mesmerizing crowning gown from the year before was proof that she was dedicated to constantly refining her craft.
