Top 10 Funniest Harry Potter Memes

The Wizarding World has provided us with a lot of A+ comedic content. Welcome to MsMojo and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 10 Harry Potter Memes.
For this list, we’re looking at our favorite memes and meme formats related to The Boy Who Lived. Note that there will be spoilers, so here’s your warning!
#10: What Happens to Dumbledore
Major spoiler alert if you somehow haven’t read the books or seen the movies yet, but in the sixth installment of the series, Severus Snape kills Professor Albus Dumbledore, seemingly in cold blood. It’s a move that shook readers to their core. After the book was released, this plot point quickly became one of the most famous spoilers in any fandom, and has since become fodder for internet hilarity. There are lots of memes involving it, and it has been paired with other popular meme formats like Good Guy Greg, Condescending Willy Wonka and The Rock Driving.
#9: Ron & Hermione Meet
In an iconic scene in both the book and the movie, our core trio meets for the first time on the Hogwarts Express. Ron and Hermione immediately get off to a rocky start, with Hermione looking at him disdainfully and telling him he has dirt on his nose. This moment has been immortalized as a hilarious meme, which uses the foreknowledge that these two eventually become romantically involved and spins it into something shocking. Ron saying that he is Hermione’s future husband is not only funny but true, and Hermione’s displeased reaction is just perfect. Memes featuring Hermione trying a spell, which also takes place in this scene, are just as amazing.
#8: 99 Problems but a Snitch Ain't One
Who knew that Jay-Z and Harry Potter could be combined so seamlessly? The rapper’s 2004 rap hit “99 Problems” is an iconic early aughts track, and we’d bet many among you know the full song by heart. Some genius decided to play off the fact that snitch rhymes with the B word and the rest is digital history. Seeing an image of Harry flying during a Quidditch game with the phrase “99 Problems but a Snitch Ain't One” emblazoned over it is hilarious, and it makes us wish we had a full version of the rap all about Harry Potter...oh wait, we do!
#7: Voldemort's Nose
When Tom Riddle was young, he was a handsome and charismatic man, but as he delved deeper and deeper into the dark arts, his body was physically deformed in a way that mirrored the transformations that were taking place inside. One, let’s call it interesting, development, was that his nose seemed to all but disappear. The fact that old Voldy only really has snake-like slits for nostrils where his nose should be has made for some incredible memes. Some involve taking serious scenes and inserting a joke about the Dark Lord’s lack of nose, some involve explaining where his nose went, and some involve incredible “Mean Girls” mashups.
#6: No Post on Sundays
At the beginning of “Philosopher’s Stone”, before we know where the mysterious letters to Harry are coming from, Vernon Dursley ends up completely spiraling into madness due to his efforts to ensure his nephew doesn’t manage to read one of the letters. In a hugely memorable moment, he says “Fine day Sunday... no post on Sundays”, before he is proven very very wrong. This moment has been used in a variety of memes, with one of the best featuring a mashup with “The Notebook”. On a more somber note, when actor Richard Griffiths passed away in 2013, fans banded together to not post on various platforms on a Sunday.
#5: Snapes on a Plane
Can we all agree that the 2006 Samuel L. Jackson film “Snakes on a Plane” made for a ridiculous concept? Even though the movie didn’t perform well at the box office, it became something of an Internet sensation, likely because of the hilarious title. Of course, Harry Potter fans are not above mixing their fandom with other popular properties, which is exactly what happened when the “Snapes on a Plane” meme was born. Just like the movie that inspired it, this is a meme that is supposed to make you guffaw with just how dumb it is.
#4: Harry’s Mother’s Eyes
As happens with all book to movie adaptations, changes need to be made in order to fit the new medium. In the “Harry Potter” franchise though, they made a pretty big alteration that left many fans fuming. Throughout the books, it is said by various characters that Harry has his mother’s eyes, and it ends up being an important factor in one of the most pivotal moments of the series (fans, you know what we’re talking about). So when in the movie, Harry and his mother DON’T have the same eyes, it was the perfect opportunity to create an amazing meme, mocking the entire situation.
#3: Ten Points to / from Gryffindor
Early on in the series, we learn about the Hogwarts house system where students are separated into four houses based on their skills and abilities. Teachers are able to add or subtract house points for rewards and punishments, which affects who takes home the house cup at the end of the year. This concept has been played for laughs online, with many using the basic “10 points from Gryffindor” meme as a response to a stupid comment or post. Alternately, you can use “10 points FOR (or TO) Gryffindor” to praise someone. It has often been used to comment on the physical attractiveness of one of the series’ actors.
#2: You're a Wizard, Harry!
One of the most iconic lines of the entire series takes place in “Philosopher’s Stone” when the big reveal takes place and Hagrid tells Harry that he is actually a wizard, explaining all the strange things that have happened to him throughout his life. Online, this moment has been turned into a wide variety of memes, making puns about the line itself or creating jokes out of the wording. In its most basic form though, you can use this meme to be condescending to someone when they are having trouble grasping a seemingly simple subject.
Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
Job for Children
Third Wheel
Lockhart Directed “Thor”
Your Boyfriend Is a Keeper
MTV Cribs
#1: Sexual Revisionist History
Since the final “Harry Potter” book was released, author J.K. Rowling has taken the opportunity to reveal many details that never appeared in the books. Perhaps the most notable of which was the fact that Professor Dumbledore, everyone’s favorite headmaster, was gay. She has continued to add more details that change the canon, and that many fans would argue no one ever asked for. This has recently been turned into a popular meme format, with the premise being that people make up faux “updates” that Rowling has revealed. Many of them are totally NSFW and we probably shouldn’t share them here!
