Top 10 Funniest Will Smith Moments on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
#10: Will Sneaks In
“Something for Nothing”
Will is partial to bending the rules and considers himself sly enough to get away with it too. So when he violates curfew, it becomes a mission of ducking, rolling, and leaping behind furniture to avoid being caught by any of the adults. Still, the highlight of this scene is when Will prematurely celebrates his victory only to have his bubble burst by his aunt and uncle. With his celebratory dance cut short, Will abandons any attempt at moving stealthily and proceeds to stomp up the stairs, probably waking the rest of the family in the process.
#9: Laughing It Up with William Shatner
“Eye, Tooth”
After an incident between Will and Carlton sends guest star William Shatner straight to the dentist, the pair follow him to beg for his forgiveness. However, all thoughts of a sincere apology are quickly forgotten after another accident results in everyone succumbing to the effects of Nitrous oxide. Their behavior gets goofier by the minute as they burst into spontaneous dancing, find amusement in the numerous oversized props, and give into hysterical “Star Trek” fueled hallucinations. You don’t need to be on laughing gas to find this scene hilarious as the impacts of the substance continue to take their toll.
#8: Will Gets Hypnotized
“Save the Last Trance for Me”
Will finds himself the unintentional subject of hypnosis on the same evening that Nicky’s school admissions officer pays the Banks’ a home visit. Naturally, chaos ensues when Will starts acting out in front of the admissions officer while the rest of the family believe he’s just being his usual wacky self. The seamless transition between each ring is just as funny as Will has no recollection of his actions at all. Nevertheless, his behavior under the trance is so hilariously cheeky whether he’s stashing sweets, telling jokes, or escaping a time out that we can’t help but laugh out loud.
#7: Will & Carlton’s Disastrous Double Date
“Not, I Barbecue”
On a scale of how bad a date can go, this one is certainly up there. While the night starts out pleasantly enough, everything goes wrong when the boyfriend of one of their dates shows up. Mad Dog is certainly not someone you want to mess with and when he finds them in the apartment, a series of unfortunate yet amusing events sees them climbing out the window in their underwear. Unfortunately, they don’t anticipate how high up they are or how it might look to a passer-by. The situation quickly escalates, resulting in a hilariously misguided rescue attempt.
#6: Will Burns Down the Kitchen
“Burnin’ Down the House”
Will gets a lesson in fire safety when a flambé gone wrong quickly spirals out of control. After causing a fire by pouring way too much liquor into the pan, Will attempts an array of useless yet hysterical methods to extinguish it. And just when he thinks he has everything under control, it returns with a vengeance. Will’s melodramatic response to the fire and later blackened kitchen has us in stitches while his exchange with Geoffrey only makes us laugh harder. While we wipe away our tears of laughter, Will learns that some things are better left to the experts.
#5: Will Gets a Tad Melodramatic
“I, Whoops, There It Is”
One of the things that never fails to make us laugh is when Will Smith indulges in a bit of overacting. In fact, in a behind the scenes episode from Season Six, there is a whole segment dedicated to these entertaining gems. One scene in particular that stands out is when Ashley confronts Will about interfering in her personal life and he responds by dropping to his knees in an overzealous display of grief. Just try to keep a straight face as Will falls to his knees before pretty much performing an interpretive dance to show how distraught he is.
#4: Will Arrives in Bel-Air
“The Fresh Prince Project”
From the moment Will arrives in Bel-Air, it’s clear that everyone’s lives are about to get “flipped turned upside down.” Knocking on the door in time to “Back To Life” by Soul II Soul, Will gets a little carried away in announcing his arrival. After Geoffrey lets him in, it takes the new arrival time to adjust to his new surroundings, even mistaking the butler for his uncle. But it doesn’t take him long to butt heads with his uncle as the pair set the groundwork for a rocky relationship that will continue to entertain us throughout the entire series.
#3: Will Channels His Inner Dreamgirl
“The Script Formerly Known as…”
Hilary and Will upset Uncle Phil when a dismissed juror they invite on Hilary’s talk show uses the opportunity to badmouth the judge. After several attempts to apologize, Will resorts to an incredibly theatrical, lip-synched performance of Jennifer Holliday’s “And I Am Telling You.” His exaggerated facial expressions and hyperactive moves are priceless, especially as the music builds to the chorus. And although Uncle Phil doesn’t seem too keen on the performance and makes a swift exit, Will stays committed to the role. We honestly don’t know how they made it through even one take without breaking character.
#2: Will & Carlton “Jump On It” in Vegas
“Viva Lost Wages”
When Carlton gets carried away gambling in Vegas, he and Will find themselves short on money and with no way to get home. In order to win back their airfare, they enter a talent contest to perform what has since become one of the most iconic moments from the series. From their improvised costumes to their extraordinary choreography and hilarious expressions, which alternate between serious and goofy, it’s no wonder this moment remains so popular among the fans. In his enthusiasm, Will even ends up flinging Carlton off the stage but as they say, the show must go on.

#1: Will Gets Trapped with His Date
“Did the Earth Move for You?”
Will and his new girlfriend Kathleen are moving pretty fast and it takes an earthquake to shake things up, and not in a good way. Trapped together in the basement, they quickly start to grate on each other’s nerves and Will is horrified when he discovers what women endure for beauty. With no escape, Will turns to music to vent his frustration, which although we find hilarious, doesn’t seem to impress Kathleen at all. Although we can’t help but laugh at their predicament, we learn that you should never argue while hangry and whatever you do, don’t mention the breath mints.
