What are these Hogwarts students up to after graduating? Welcome to MsMojo and today we’ll be looking at the cast of “Harry Potter” – where are they now?
For this list, we’ll be going over the cast of the “Harry Potter” film series and what they’ve been doing since the end of the film series. We’ll be focusing on the younger cast members for this list, as the teachers and other adults, like Natalia Tena, who plays Tonks, may warrant a list of their own.
#10: Hero Fiennes-Tiffin
Tom Riddle
The boy who would be Voldemort was played to perfection by Hero Fiennes-Tiffin. Although his family resemblance to his uncle Ralph, who plays adult Voldemort, certainly helped, it’s his chilling performance that really sells it. Since his time in the “Harry Potter” franchise, Fiennes-Tiffin has grown up, but has acted in another book adaptation, “After,” a romantic drama film. The young actor has also appeared in several television dramas, like ITV’s “Cleaning Up,” as well as Netflix’s “Safe.” As the youngest actor on our list, Fiennes-Tiffin is sure to have more roles to come. And for those of you who are curious as to what Frank Dillane, the actor who played teenaged Tom Riddle has been up to, he’s since appeared on the popular zombie series Fear the Walking Dead.
#9: Evanna Lynch
Luna Lovegood
Evanna Lynch embodied the spacey, but bright Ravenclaw student, Luna Lovegood. Almost literally, as J.K. Rowling has gone on record that Lynch’s performance influenced the character in later books. After the movie series’ conclusion, Lynch has appeared in a number of film and TV series, including the Irish indie drama, “My Name is Emily,” as well as a season of “Dancing with the Stars,” where she placed 3rd. Lynch is also an advocate for veganism and animal rights, and hosts a podcast on veganism called The ChickPeeps, along with another former “Harry Potter” actor, Robbie Jarvis. We have a feeling Luna would approve.
#8: Bonnie Wright
Ginny Weasley
Even if the films really cut down on Ginny’s screentime, Bonnie Wright did a fine job as the youngest Weasley sibling. Shortly after the conclusion of the franchise, Wright was briefly engaged to fellow “Potter” star Jamie Campbell Bower and these days, Wright has gotten a bit more spotlight by acting in a number of drama films, although she has also tried her hand at work behind the camera, at both screenwriting and directing. Wright is also an advocate in the fight to reduce single use plastics a cause she pursues with the fiery passion her character was known for [at least in the books].
#7: Alfred Enoch
Dean Thomas
Alfred Enoch played Harry and Ron’s Gryffindor dorm mate Dean Thomas. While the character was more of a supporting one, we can see why Ginny dated him (whew!). Following the film series, Enoch has primarily appeared onstage or on television. Along with guest appearances on shows like “Sherlock,” Enoch had a starring role for many years on “How to Get Away with Murder.” More recently, Enoch has appeared the medical mystery drama, “Trust Me.” You can certainly “trust us” when we say that we’ll be keeping an eye on Enoch’s career, and not just for his handsome face (though that doesn’t hurt).
#6: Robert Pattinson
Cedric Diggory
Robert Pattinson played the ever popular Hufflepuff Cedric Diggory while at Hogwarts, and his popularity has continued following his character’s untimely death. Pattinson stuck to the YA book adaptation genre shortly after his departure, appearing in the popular “Twilight” franchise. Since then, Pattinson has starred in a variety of different films, like “High Life” and “The Lighthouse,” which, though not enjoying the financial success as his earlier work, still drew critical acclaim. All that could be subject to change though, given that Pattinson has been cast as Batman in the DC Extended Universe.
#5: Matthew Lewis
Neville Longbottom
Matthew Lewis grew up right along with Neville Longbottom, whose transformation from a bumbling student into a more confident leader of the resistance was made all the more convincing by Lewis’ glow up. In his life after “Potter,” Lewis has starred in everything from crime films, to drama series, to the comedy television show, “Bluestone 42,” which is set during the war in Afghanistan. The actor was also married in 2018 to Angela Jones. One thing’s for sure, we definitely won’t need a Remembrall to remind us to check in on Matthew Lewis.
#4: Tom Felton
Draco Malfoy
For years, fans either hissed or swooned at the sight of Tom Felton in the role of Slytherin bully Draco Malfoy. Since appearing in the “Harry Potter” series, Felton has starred in a plethora of movie and TV roles. His film work ranges from a similarly slimy character in “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” to period pieces like “Against the Sun.” Meanwhile on the small screen, Felton has frequented sci-fi series, with a recurring role on “The Flash,” as well as starring in the short-lived Youtube series “Origin” along with Tonks actress Natalia Tena.
#3: Rupert Grint
Ron Weasley
Ron Weasley may often feel like he’s second-rate compared to his brothers and Harry, but actor Rupert Grint’s career post-“Potter” has been first class. Grint’s big screen credits have been primarily indie pictures, but he’s enjoying more success on the small screen, as he’s currently starring in several TV shows, both of which deal with characters outside the law. In “Sick Note,” Grint plays a man who lies about having cancer after being misdiagnosed. His other series is “Snatch,” an adaptation of the crime comedy of the same name. Grint has also been in a long-term relationship with actress Georgia Groome since 2011.
#2: Emma Watson
Hermione Granger
Harry’s bookish and outspoken other best friend, Hermione Granger has long been a role model for girls and women, and Emma Watson has been doing her best to exceed the character she once played. Along with appearing in films nearly every year since “Harry Potter” ended, including the live-action “Beauty and the Beast,” Watson also went back to school and got her bachelor’s degree, became a fashion model, as well as a UN Women Goodwill ambassador, where she continued her work advocating for women’s rights. And you thought your plate was full!
Before we get to our top, inevitable, pick, here are a few honorable mentions:
Joshua Herdman
Gregory Goyle
Jamie Waylett
Vincent Crabbe
James and Oliver Phelps
Fred and George Weasley
Harry Melling
Dudley Dursley
Katie Leung
Cho Chang
#1: Daniel Radcliffe
Harry Potter
As the titular star of the “Harry Potter” series, Daniel Radcliffe has embodied and been embodied by the role for many fans. Perhaps that’s why, since the films ended, Radcliffe has taken on such a wide variety of roles in so many different genres and mediums. From rom-coms, to thrillers, to whatever the heck “Swiss Army Man” is supposed to be, Radcliffe has been determined not to let his most famous part define his career. The actor currently stars in the afterlife comedy “Miracle Workers,” but Radcliffe also helps deliver miracles in real life with his activities with various charities.
