The only thing worse than a monster of a storm is a storm of monsters. When Fin and his friends' comfortable Los Angeles surf life is upended by a tornado full of sharks, you know this won't be a story to take too seriously. With sharks casually flying through freeways, houses, and the air, no one is safe from L.A.'s storm of the century. People are eaten as they’re reporting on the storm and as they fall out of helicopters. Others even get taken out by collateral damage, most notably when a Ferris wheel runs loose. Fortunately, you can always fight off a Sharknado with some bombs and a chainsaw.

Two heads are definitely better than one when it comes to shark attacks. As a group of beach lovers are slowly picked off by a giant two-headed shark, things get awfully convenient, awfully fast – for the shark, that is. Pair after pair is eaten by the beast so often that it’s hard to believe that more people don't split up to try to save themselves. Going airborne for a bit and even playing with its food, the bloodthirsty powerhouse doesn't even hold lovers sacred in its violent rampage. With almost too many double-kills, it even chows down on a duo of unsuspecting wakeboarders at the start of the movie.

Every once in a while, that character you want to get murdered gets just that. After it seems like alligators have run amok in a small backwoods town, it turns out that a shark is actually behind a string of deaths that are both gruesome and endlessly funny. Because Rachel's alligators are accused of the deaths, she sets out to find the shark and stop its reign of terror, but not before the beast gets in some corny kills. And when a creepy deputy stops to watch a couple during some intimate moments, he's quickly punished as the shark leaps out to bite off his head mid-stare.

Even the best of friends fight sometimes. At Brick's wedding, Ron's old shark friend, Doby, appears in the water, sending the two into a reunion for the ages. This includes Ron giving the shark a loving kiss on the nose. But the magic ends when Doby's instincts kick in, confirming everyone's fears as he attacks Ron. While severely outmuscled, Ron's dog Baxter leaps into action to protect his master, doggy paddling his way out to the shark. Giving the monster a bite of his own, Baxter breaks Ron free before barking Doby away, asserting which animal is truly man's best friend.

While you shouldn't play with your food, if your food plays with you, they're definitely fair game. The Navy creates a genetically engineered shark-octopus hybrid that takes all of one demonstration to break loose and devastate civilians with both its jaws and its tentacles. Taking down anyone who just happens to get close to the water in all its bad CGI glory, the super-monster really makes a show of its kills. In one moment, it gets particularly cheeky when it decides to go for a moving target, catching a wild child bungee jumper and eating her right off her rope.

No parody is complete until you use every part of the subject matter. Due to irresponsible construction, a bunch of sharks are set loose on the Jersey Shore, and they turn on some bad Guido look-alikes of the cast from the infamous MTV series. With tons of gelled hair-and-tanned carnage ensuing, the mock-cast don't have quite the party that their reality show counterparts live. In this scene, a bro takes some time to admire his hard work and shows off his eight-pack to someone he’s trying to impress. This act makes him both a great addition to a hunk album and a menu… for sharks. While his abs are slowly devoured, his female admirer is rewarded with buckets upon buckets of blood.

If you thought being in a plane would be one of the few safe places in a shark movie, you'd be wrong. In this monster/disaster flick, a pre-historic fight is reignited between an over-sized shark and an octopus when the glacier they were frozen in mid-fight is melted, setting them free to cause havoc. Passengers thousands of feet in the air may have thought they’d have nothing but turbulence to bother them. That feeling would only last until one passenger catches a glimpse of something from below, in which a huge shark leaps into the air, takes the plane and its passengers down in a comedic blurry mess and grabs an in-flight meal.

Enough perseverance will pay off eventually. Fin seems to be about the only lucky person by this third installment of the franchise, in which the sharks are worse than ever. With the latest sharknado cutting off Fin's presidential commendation, he has to go to Florida to save his family and visit some landmarks along the way. Ending up at a Universal theme park, they soon find themselves stranded on a roller coaster with one of the sharks looming on the rails behind them. Working its way back and forth until it builds enough momentum to catch up, said shark ends up eating an attendant and even crashes the ride.

If only all karma was this instant. An ancient shark called the Megalodon terrorizes sea-goers as scientists and divers are quickly torn apart by the long-dormant beast. The film definitely wasn't shooting for gold as its myriad of bad special effects, lack of continuity, and horrendous dialogue have quickly turned it into an internet classic. But the cherry on top is the laugh riot-inducing finale where a yacht is attacked, and a deluge of people end up in the shark's mouth, with its size changing constantly to fit the kill. Meanwhile, the selfish Luis wastes no time in stealing a woman's life jacket only to be eaten mid-jump.

Once you start breaking the rules in a movie, you may as well go all the way. This supernatural horror flick sees a great white shark tortured and killed by fishermen, only to be resurrected by a mysterious magical cave. Decidedly taking his ghostly revenge, the shark makes quick and gory work of his killers and then decides to just keep on eating. The writers of the movie made it so that any amount of water – whether big or small – is enough for the shark to be able to kill. Pushing the envelope on goofy kills, our top pick is one in which a man starts convulsing and bleeding after he takes a sip of water and then splitting in half as the ghost shark emerges... from within him.
