Top 10 Insane Pink Performances
This performer always puts on a good show. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for top 10 insane Pink performances.
For this list, we will be looking at the most jaw dropping performances that Pink has ever brought to the stage.
#10: “Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken”
Grammy Awards (2018)
Pink has become known for her impressive physical performances, but here her live rendition is stripped down to fully display her vocals. Passionately singing while accompanied by a sign language interpreter, Pink makes sure the message is understood: be strong in the face of adversity. Pink had originally written “Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken” for 2015’s “Suffragette,” saying that those women were an inspiration to “fight for what’s rightly yours, which is rights and respect and love and kindness and compassion.” In the wake of the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements in Hollywood, the song’s meaning was perhaps felt even more.
#9: “God is a DJ”
Billboard Music Awards (2003)
Alright, let’s kick things up a notch shall we? Let’s go back to 2003 when Pink made a big appearance at the Billboard Music Awards. She showed the world that she was on a completely different level when she delivered a flawless and high-energy performance of her hit song “God is a DJ”, complete with break-dancing and an impressive backflip. How she manages to sing so perfectly after busting out those moves is beyond us, but it earned her the respect of the star-studded audience, who gave her a standing ovation.
#8: “Just Like Fire”
Billboard Music Awards (2016)
Pink knows that when performing a song about fire, you’ve gotta turn up the heat! “Just Like Fire” was written for the film “Alice Through the Looking Glass”, which explains the performance’s quirky costumes and the clock theme throughout. Pink throws in some aerial stunts to kick off the action and the finale is completely jaw dropping: with Pink belting out the song while hanging in front of a flaming clock, flanked by spinning acrobats, and below the whole thing is a crimson-clad dance troupe. Dramatic and fiery, which is just how we like our finales!
#7: “Sober”
MTV Video Music Awards (2009)
The build up to this performance is genius, as pink is blindfolded and then slowly raised into the arms of a man in a trapeze. As the song starts to build in tempo, Pink starts to build up more anticipation about the awesomeness she’s about to unleash. With one last cheeky look to the audience Pink starts doing insane stunts on the trapeze. The very physical performance somehow gives a boost to her vocals, and brings the chorus to a whole new level. After an insane leap of faith she swings before gracefully flipping down to earth.
#6: “So What”
iHeartRadio Music Festival (2012)
…
Here’s the thing, to Pink this routine is just a regular day at the office, since she now incorporates it in most of her concerts. She gets hooked up to a twisting ring harness which pulls her in all different directions, while she twirls and flips through the wires like some sort of secret agent. While flying through the air she manages to stay on beat and belt out her rock anthem. The most intense part of the performance is when she sings “you let me fall” while plummeting head first into the crowd. And she somehow manages to make it feel like it’s no big deal.
#5: Medley of Hits
MTV Video Music Awards (2017)
For her 2017 VMA’s performance, Pink took us down memory lane with a medley of her biggest hits like her party anthems “Get the Party Started”, and “Raise Your Glass” and her rock anthem “So What”. For this trip she takes a few interesting modes of transportation like a flying car and a riding lawn mower, making one of its rare catwalk appearances. “What About Us” was the finale of the performance, which featured the singer belting out the single while surrounded by her amazing dance troupe .
#4: “Try/Just Give Me A Reason" ft. Nate Ruess
Grammy Awards (2014)
Let’s break this performance down into 3 parts to make sure we take it all in. Part 1: The distinctive intro to “Try” rings out as a spinning Pink is lifted into the air by her silks. It’s important to know that there aren’t extra safety measures, it’s just Pink and the material, which makes the spins and flips that much more impressive. Next, Pink is lowered down and proceeds to do an insane dance routine. And If THAT wasn’t enough, Nate Ruess strolls onto the stage to finish the entire thing off with a duet.
#3: “Try”
American Music Awards (2012)
When the “Try” music video was released in 2012 people couldn’t help but be amazed at Pink’s raw talent. It features Pink doing an extremely physically demanding dance routine with Colt Prattes, that involved both dancers doing lifts, flips, and generally throwing each other around. When Pink performed that same routine live for the AMA’s while singing at the same time, well, our jaws still haven’t recovered from hitting the floor. The set framed the performance perfectly and helped showcase the meaning of the song, which are the extreme emotions experienced in a passionate and fiery romance .
#2: “Glitter in the Air”
Grammy Awards (2010)
From start to finish this performance is simply beautiful, and may even bring a tear to your eye. It marries two of Pink’s greatest talents, singing and silks. The song and the choreography go together seamlessly, making the entire performance almost transcendent. One of the highlights is when Pink spins covered in water. Not only does she move at dizzying speeds but she also sends out millions of water droplets, which looks just like...you guessed it: glitter in the air. She also drips water all over the celebrities below, most of whom loved being part of the act. The performance earned Pink a well-deserved standing ovation.
Before we reveal our top pick here are some honorable mentions.
“So What”
MTV Video Music Awards (2008)
“Everybody Hurts”
American Music Awards (2017)
“Just Like a Pill”
MTV Video Music Awards (2002)
#1: “Beautiful Trauma”
American Music Awards (2017)
After all of the entries you’ve seen in this list you’re probably thinking “there is no way Pink can top all that!” Well that’s where you’re wrong. In 2017 Pink took everyone by surprise by performing on the side of a skyscraper. That’s right, she managed to pull off a full dance routine from the side of a 34-story building, while giving a flawless vocal performance of “Beautiful Trauma”. Before you ask, no she wasn’t lip syncing, and yes, she was a little nervous leading up to the performance Superhuman is still human after all.
