#10: Out of Nowhere

“FLCL” (2000-01) Naoto may be short, but the size of his kahunas cannot be disputed, especially after this stunt! In spite of the revelation that Haruko had been using him the entire time, the walking portal still chose to follow his heart. As opposed to beating the hell out of her after attaining godly powers, Naoto instead confesses his love to the galactic vespa rider and kisses her straight out. Kudos to the little lad for pulling that off, not even Haruko saw that coming!

#9: Miku Goes For It

“The Quintessential Quintuplet” (2019) Harems can be battlefields, and sometimes, you just have to bare your soul and hope the lucky bastard at the center of it all makes the right decision and chooses best girl. Which, in this instance, is Miku by a country mile. With every sister falling for their lovable tutor, Miku finally takes her chance to let Futaro know that she’s also got the hots for him. To see her come out of her shell and take such a gamble is a testament to how far she’s come. Now if only Futaro made the right decision…

#8: Casual Confession

“Horimiya” (2021) Despite being all about the punk scene, Miyamura is pretty chill when it comes to practically every aspect of his love life, from his first kiss all the way to a marriage proposal. Even the way he dropped the L word was super lowkey. Granted, it was a flimsy move to confess while Hori was high on a fever, even more so when he says it with the same gravitas of asking about the weather. It may have felt like a drop in the ocean, but the impact of said confession was monumental!

#7: Smooching on Jeanne

“The Case Study of Vanitas” (2021-) Got to hand it to this quack, not many people would look at someone as imposing as the Hellfire Witch and think “call me Vlad because I’m about to impale that!” And yet, Vanitas went all in when displaying his newfound affection for the woman who, up to two seconds prior, was trying to burn him to death. Apparently, he’s that good of a kisser, because one lip lock from him and Jeanne was putty in his hands. Remember, when facing down sexy vampires – flirt your way to victory!

#6: Sakuta’s Schoolyard Serenade

“Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai” (2018) Working up the courage to confess your feelings isn’t easy, but best boy Sakuta took it to the next level. With Mai’s adolescence syndrome removing her from reality itself, he goes all out to ensure she’s brought back into the collective consciousness…by screaming about his love for her in front of the whole school. This stunt not only brings her back from the fringes of oblivion, but secures himself a ten out of ten girlfriend in the process. He proved he was a great guy and tackled social stigmas in one fell swoop, all for his dream bunny girl.

#5: Too Much Information

“Kokoro Connect” (2012) The sad part is, this might be the most unique moment out of this entire slice of life series, and it’s based around one of the most outrageous of confessions! After more high school shenanigans, Inaba decides to get back at love interest Taichi by revealing that she, has indeed, done lewd things whilst thinking about him. While it’s certainly flattering in one sense, it’s still a pretty out there comment to make in a show that’s this lukewarm in terms of rom-com potential.

#4: Of Romance and Rumblings

“Attack on Titan” (2013-) If there’s one person who deserves the chance at a happy life, it would be Falco. Despite being raised amongst Marleyian indoctrination, the future warrior consistently proved himself to be a compassionate individual who would rather save lives rather than snuff them out. After being poisoned with Zeke’s spinal fluid, Falco decides to get everything off his chest, and confesses to Gabi that, in spite of everything that’s happened, he’s loved her all this time and wants to marry her. Pretty sure that hit Gabi harder than any punch.

#3: Marriage Proposal, Pirate Style

“One Piece” (1999-) Ha! And Oda said he doesn’t do romance. In what might be the most unlikely of pairings, the way Sai and Baby 5 end up as a couple is as hilarious as it is action-packed. The future commander of the Straw Hat Alliance, in the midst of his final battle against the insidious Loa G, decides that not only is he going to beat the muscular pensioner’s head in, but also take the naïve yet lovely Baby 5 for his wife. It would be outright ridiculous if not for the amount of boss energy Sia displays as he seamlessly merges a skull-crushing kick and forthcoming nuptials!

#2: Ram’s Doomed Love

“Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World” (2016-) Will someone please just love one of these poor oni girls already! In a dark reflection of what happened between Rem and Subaru, Ram confesses that she has become smitten with Roswaal, the man she was enslaved to, the man who destroyed her homeland, and the one ultimately obsessed over Echinda. And yet Ram remains resolute in her choice, going as far as to let herself be supposedly killed while trying to remove what she believes is the source of Roswaal’s corruption. He doesn’t deserve you Ram!

#1: Sakura’s Failed Shipping

“Naruto Shippuden” (2007-17) On the one hand, it gave all those poor Narusaku shipper something to believe in for a single episode, what with Naruto’s former crush suddenly declaring that she, after all this time and after countless rejections, had finally come around on wanting to perform birds and bees no jutsu with her whiskered man of choice. It’s certainly a bombshell confession, even if Naruto rips it all down by accusing her of lying to herself. And just like that thousands of fangirls cried out in despair.

They could have done that, given Sakura actual character development, and actually make her a likable character. BUT NOOOO, THEY MADE HEr A LITERAL THOT, AND MADE HER SAY THAT SHIT!!! (Read comments from bottom to top.)

Listen, Naruto...I may have called you an idiot and punched you more times than I can count, but the adventures we've had, the things we've gone through...I saw you as a brother. So, my love for you is a sister's love.

It would have sooo much better if it played out like this: S:Naruto...we need to talk. N:About what? S: You love me, don't you? N: Um... S: I already know, so don't deny it! N: Yeah...part of me always has.
