Top 10 Marvel Moments That Made Us Happy Cry

Top 10 Marvel Moments That Made Us Happy Cry
VOICE OVER: Emily Brayton WRITTEN BY: Andrew Tejada
Even the Hulk happy-cried watching these Marvel moments. Our countdown includes "Guardians of the Galaxy," "WandaVision," "Spider-Man: Far From Home," and more!

#10: Peter Stops Feeling Pressured to Be Tony
"Spider-Man: Far From Home" (2019)

After Iron Man gives his life to save the universe, Spider-Man feels pressured to step into Stark’s big shoes. But the teenage Peter Parker spends most of “Far From Home” feeling like he could never be the next Tony. When he reaches a low point, Happy reminds him that no-one could live up to Iron Man’s reputation - and he doesn’t need to. This pep talk calms Peter down and lets him focus on building a new suit. He sets to work just like Tony would have, bringing a nostalgic smile to Happy’s face. It's incredibly heartwarming to see Peter following in Iron Man’s footsteps, without stressing out about it - and while also being very much himself.

#9: Tony Gives Harley a Parting Gift
“Iron Man 3”(2013)

When Tony Stark was stranded in Tennessee with a non-working suit, he broke into a random garage, where he was confronted by a young boy named Harley Keener. The two bonded over technology and issues with their fathers. Harley helped get the Iron Man suit online and was there to help Tony get through a panic attack. Although Iron Man has to leave his young accomplice behind, he doesn't forget about him. Harley later returns to his garage to find that Tony has loaded it with top of the line tech. Seeing the look of joy on the kid’s face gets us every time. More ‘Proof That Tony Stark Has A Heart’.

#8: Groot Grows Back
“Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014)

Seeing Peter accept his mother's passing and open her final gift was an extremely emotional moment. But it was his fellow guardian Groot that really made us happy cry. When the heroes are trapped on a crashing spaceship, Groot sacrifices his life to protect them. In the aftermath, Rocket picks up a twig from his friend’s body. We were extremely relieved when we saw this small piece of Groot start growing into a new tree. Neither the Guardians nor the audience were ready to say goodbye to this wooden alien. Seeing him alive made us want to do a happy dance alongside Baby Groot.

#7: Jemma & Fitz Get Married
“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." (2013-20)

There could probably be a top 20 dedicated to every time Leopold Fitz and Jemma Simmons were torn apart. But thankfully, we also get to celebrate the time when this perfect couple was tied together. During a quiet moment for the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Coulson presides over a wedding ceremony between Jemma and Fitz. It's impossible to listen to their sweet and beautifully worded vows without tearing up. While Jemma says her husband is her home, Fitz declares he's the luckiest man in the universe to have her as his wife. Watching them get married after everything they've been through made us believe that love can overcome any obstacle.

#6: Peter Shows Appreciation for Yondu
“Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2” (2017)

Yondu wasn’t the best surrogate father figure. The Ravager leader kidnapped a young Peter Quill and forced him to work in his thieving crew. Despite Yondu’s faults however, he doesn’t hesitate to help Star-Lord fight his biological father Ego. In the midst of a battle, the Ravager leader floats down to the ground with his Yaka Arrow. Although Peter initially compares Yondu to Mary Poppins as a joke, he turns his light jab into a sweet compliment. The amount of joy that Yondu gets from Star-Lord’s sincere words is infectious. While the Ravager leader was far from a perfect dad, it’s still moving to see his adoptive son show him some love.

#5: A New Perspective on Grief
“WandaVision” (2021)

Sometime after Wanda loses her brother Pietro, Vision pays her a visit. After listening to Wanda talk about her feelings of loss, Vision offers his own perspective on grief - as another form of love. It’s a way of looking at sorrow that resonates with Wanda, and made us all fight back tears. His words also helped us cope with another bittersweet event in the finale. As Vision fades away, he's optimistic that he’ll reunite with Wanda again. It's easier for us to endure this tear-inducing moment knowing that their love will persevere no matter what happens next.

#4: Tony Reunites with Peter
“Avengers: Endgame” (2019)

Watching Peter fall victim to the Thanos snap was one of the hardest scenes to watch in the MCU. The way he desperately clings to Iron Man right before turning into dust is just haunting. After Tony spends years missing Peter, the Avengers successfully bring everyone back. They don’t have time to celebrate though, as they’re immediately pitted against Thanos and his forces. During the heat of battle, Peter comes to Tony’s aid. While Spider-man is talking a mile a minute, Tony pulls him into a giant hug. We don't blame anyone who burst into tears during this scene. Peter and Tony’s reunion was a touching and triumphant moment.

#3: Isaiah Bradley Finally Gets Recognition
“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” (2021)

Throughout the “Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, we learn about Isaiah Bradley's tragic past. An African-American soldier who received super soldier serum, he was locked up, experimented on, and had his name essentially erased from history. Sam Wilson couldn’t let this soldier be forgotten. In the sixth episode, he takes Bradley and his grandson to a museum. When they arrive, they find a section that leaves them in shock and us in tears. Right in the middle of the museum stands a statue and plaque that tells Bradley’s story. Although this forgotten super soldier deserves so much more for the pain he endured, this memorial is a stirring way to honor him.

#2: A Long Delayed Dance
“Avengers: Endgame” (2019)

In the 1940s, Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter planned to go out dancing. But after Cap is frozen in ice during a mission, he wakes up in the 21st century. Their dance seemed impossible until the Avengers figured out a way to travel through time in “Endgame”. While in the past, Steve catches a glimpse of Peggy through a window and seems to reach a decision. After the big battle in the present, he returns to the past to finally make their dance happen. They didn't need a single line of dialogue to make this incredibly tender moment between them work. It was the happy ending that they both deserved.

#1: Cap Gets Backup
“Avengers: Endgame” (2019)

Shortly after a time-traveling Thanos hits the Avengers compound with a surprise attack, three heroes step up to resist him. At the end of the battle, it looks like Captain America is the only one left standing. He's prepared to face a massive army led by Thanos alone until Sam Wilson's voice breaks the silence. Suddenly, Avengers start emerging from an endless number of magical portals. Every time we saw a familiar face or formerly fallen Avenger appear we were overwhelmed with emotion. It doesn’t matter whether you watch this scene for the first time or in our case, the millionth time. The intense relief and joy this epic moment produces will never fail to bring a tear to the eye.
