Top 10 MCU Characters with the Coolest Superpowers
#10: Spider-Man
Peter Parker is among the physically strongest Earthly characters in the MCU – the guy once bench pressed a collapsed building! Along with that amazing strength, Spider-Man has enhanced agility, and is able to react quickly to threats thanks to a sixth sense that alerts him to danger—sometimes. He’s also able to climb on sheer surfaces. Basically, he does whatever a spider can! Except shoot webs – to do that, he needs the web shooters on his wrists. Otherwise, we probably would have put him higher. Still, Spider-Man’s powers are some of the most well-known in comic property history and among the coolest in the MCU.
#9: Captain America
Steve Rogers was just a skinny kid from Brooklyn, but thanks to the super soldier serum, he got not only a rocking set of abs, but superhuman abilities to match. Captain America has incredible physical strength, and is able to perform feats like holding back a flying helicopter. He’s also much faster than most humans and is able to keep up with some cars. Cap’s physical endurance is also impressive; he can withstand powerful blows and survive falls from impressive heights. Cap’s abilities may not be as flashy as some other MCU heroes, but they’re undoubtedly some of the most practical. Plus, throughout his career, he’s repeatedly surprised us [thor’s hammer].
#8: Heimdall
He might be a supporting character, but Heimdall is among the powerful Asgardians. He’s charged with guarding the Bifrost, the bridge that allows beings to travel to and from Asgard. While he has all the usual fantastic Asgardian abilities, such as longevity and superhuman strength, he has even more impressive powers on top of them. Heimdall can extend his senses to anywhere in the Nine Realms, meaning he can see and hear things that happen on other planes of existence! This, along with his ability to summon the Bifrost, makes him the ultimate rescuer, able to pull his people out of danger even when they’re worlds away!
#7: Quake
Daisy Johnson, a.k.a. Skye, a.k.a. Quake, may begin her time on “Agents of SHIELD'' as an ordinary hacker, but along her journey she becomes more powerful than half the Avengers! After her Inhuman abilities awaken, Daisy gains the power to control and emit vibrations. Most of the time, this consists of making concussive blasts in the air. However, she can also go for smaller applications, such as vibrating a gun in such a way as to make it fall apart. Of course, you don’t get the name Quake just by dismantling firearms. Sure enough, Quake can cause large-scale seismic events. Oh, and she can also use vibrations to leap tall buildings.
#6: Vision
Do they count as superhuman powers if the character is an android? We’re choosing to go with “yes.” Vision may have been built, but his powers are amazing. Constructed of vibranium, the artificial Avenger is exceptionally strong and durable. He can also fly, shoot energy blasts, and phase through solid matter. But he’s more than just a fighting machine; he also has a superhuman intellect and can connect to the internet with his mind! This makes him an incredibly fast learner. Vision is a plethora of awesome superpowers packaged into one robo-body.
#5: Captain Marvel
Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel, is basically the MCU’s Superman without a cape. But whereas the Man of Steel gets his powers from the energy of the sun, Captain Marvel gives off enough energy that she could probably power a star herself! After being caught in the blast of an exploding Light Speed Engine, Danvers is suffused with cosmic energy from the Tesseract, a vessel for the Space Stone. This allows her to generate cosmic pulses, as well as fly and survive in space. She also has unbelievable durability – she takes several hits from Thanos without even blinking! Even from just a visual standpoint, Captain Marvel’s powers are simply marvelous.
#4: Star-Lord
Most of the time, Peter Quill seems like your average, run-of-the-mill space criminal/hero. However, he also has certain superhuman abilities, due to him being half-human and half-Celestial. While he has a generally higher than average durability, Quill is also able to survive direct contact with one of the Infinity Stones without dying, though it does still look quite painful. That’s just the beginning of his Celestial abilities though. When he encounters his father, Ego, Quill is able to unlock more of his true potential. When in the Celestial’s presence, Quill can manipulate energy and matter, including reforming rocks into various huge shapes. He can also propel himself like he’s flying. He really lives up to the Star-Lord name.
#3: Thor
As we stated earlier, Asgardians are pretty damn powerful. But Thor is also a god, and that comes with certain perks. He can go toe-to-toe with beings from across the Nine Realms, hold his own against the Hulk and even endure damage sustained from Thanos. Thor’s most memorable powers, however, are tied to his title. The god of thunder is able to summon and generate massive amounts of electricity. Also, while his famous hammer, Mjolnir, seemingly grants his abilities to anyone who can wield it, he doesn’t need it to use them himself – at least, once he masters his powers.
#2: Doctor Strange
Doctor Stephen Strange is literally a wizard! The surgeon turned sorcerer has a plethora of spells and magical abilities at his disposal. His most common offensive powers are whips made of light. Dr. Strange can also use a huge number of useful powers, including teleportation of both himself and others, as well as flight. He can actually transport people into other dimensions and make changes to reality itself. Honestly, we haven’t seen the upper limits of his powers yet in the MCU! But bottomline – magic has never not been cool and Dr. Strange wields some of the coolest magic ever put on screen!
Before we get to our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions:
Ghost Rider
Sure, the Demon Living Inside You is a Bummer, But It’s SO BADASS!
T’Challa
He’s Super Strong & Fast Thanks to the Heart-Shaped Herb
Loki
He Has a Front Giant’s Strength & Has Mastered Asgardian Magic
Luke Cage
Impenetrable Skin & Super Strength Is a Great Combo
#1: Scarlet Witch
Wanda Maximoff is one of the most powerful characters in the entire MCU. Her most frequently shown abilities include moving objects with her mind, altering people’s perceptions, and magically-powered flight. These powers alone are enough that she was nearly able to kill Thanos by herself [Endgame]! Following a tragic loss, Wanda awakened to her identity as the Scarlet Witch. Not only did her existing abilities increase in strength, but she is now able to rewrite reality itself within a certain area. How powerful will she become in the long run? Only time will tell. In the meantime, however, her powers are already incredibly cool and make for one seriously entertaining TV show.
