#10: “SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated”

Release Date: 2020 There were a ton of licensed games to come out of the sixth generation. Many were total flops, but some were very solid games. One of those titles was “Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom”, an original 3D platforming adventure that allowed players to explore Bikini Bottom as they try to put an end to Plankton’s robot army. Just when we thought this game couldn’t exist in today’s time, THQ Nordic came out during E3 2019 to announce a remake. In addition to bringing the gem to modern consoles, the remake will include content that didn’t make it into the original game such as multiplayer modes and a new boss fight. Are you ready, kids? We sure will!
#9: “Destroy All Humans!”
Release Date: Early 2020 After THQ Nordic revealed the “Spongebob” remake and a “Darksiders” spin-off, the company announced that “Destroy All Humans” was returning as well! In early 2020, players will get to take control of Crypto and relive the classic sci-fi action-adventure from 2005. So far, the visuals have given the game a lot more color, and characters have more unique features to distinguish themselves from each other. The remake is planned to modernize it’s controls, include additional challenges, and different unlockable skins for Crypto. Looking to revisit the franchise before the remake drops? The original “Destroy All Humans” is on Xbox One while both the first and second game are on PS4.
#8: “Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered”
Release Date: October 4, 2019 Strap on the proton packs because “Ghostbusters: The Video Game” is getting a remaster this October! We know what you’re thinking; “after the shoddy 2016 cash-in, why should I care about this?” Well for starters, its an imaginative adventure that shows us the world of “Ghostbusters” in a way the movies couldn’t replicate. On top of that, some of the writing was doctored by Dan Aykroyd and the late Harold Ramis, and Aykroyd has said that the game “is essentially the third movie”. So, if you’ve been dying for a “Ghostbusters 3” and are looking for an inexpensive game, be on the lookout for the remaster this October!
#7: “MediEvil”
Release Date: October 25, 2019 If you’re unaware of this PS1 relic, “MediEvil” follows the story of Sir Daniel Fortesque, a knight praised as a hero who died in battle...if only that were the truth. When the evil Zarok returns and raises an army of the dead, Sir Daniel awakens, ready to redeem himself as the legend of Gallowmere! Admittedly, the original “MediEvil” wasn’t anything too spectacular outside of its world and writing, being a by-the-books action-adventure game and earning criticism for sloppy controls, low framerate, and awkward level design. Luckily, the PS4 remake is aiming to fix those issues while also incorporating unfinished designs that didn’t make it into the original game. Will Sir Daniel’s return live up to the hype? We’ll have to wait and see this October.
#6: “Warcraft III: Reforged”

Release Date: Late 2019 Hard to believe that we’re getting “Warcraft” remake, considering how big “World of Warcraft” has become over the past decade. “Reforged” is a remake of “Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos”, a real-time strategy game that received high amounts of praise for its visuals, music, and simplified user interface. One of the biggest problems, however, lies in the character models and in-game cutscenes, which have not aged well. “Reforged” is aiming to make characters look more detailed while recreating cutscenes with the new character models. On top of that, acclaimed “Warcraft” and “Starcraft” author Christie Golden is rewriting the story to fit in with the current timeline while giving more focus to other characters.

Release Date: 2020 We’re not going to sugarcoat this; “System Shock” has been going through a rather rough cycle, being stuck in development hell for several years. After putting the project on hiatus for a year (and putting out other re-releases and remasters), Nightdive Studios returned to the remake as of March 2019. Why are we so excited for a game that’s taken ages to make? Well, “System Shock” influenced dozens of first-person shooters we love today with its level design and narrative. Besides, have you seen Nightdive’s pre-alpha footage? It shows “System Shock” is in the right hands!
#4: “Trials of Mana”
Release Date: Early 2020 Also known as “Seiken Densetsu 3”, “Trials of Mana” was revolutionary in its time, featuring three massive storylines, six playable characters, and the ability for two people to play at the same time. Needless to say, it was a SNES masterpiece. So, imagine our surprise in June 2019 when Square announced a “Trials of Mana” remake on top of rereleasing the original game on the Switch as part of “Collection of Mana”. This was a title that was previously unavailable to Western audiences, and my god...it looks beautiful. 2020 cannot come soon enough!
#3: “Command & Conquer Remastered” & “Command & Conquer: Red Alert Remastered”
Release Dates: TBD Back at E3 2018, the world witnessed a murder, and the victim was “Command & Conquer”. EA had the nerve to bring the franchise back, strip it of its glory, and turn the once-beloved strategy game into a free-to-play, microtransaction-fueled mobile game designed for the eSports crowd. Luckily, it seems the backlash got to EA as the publisher made a surprising announcement in late 2018 - both “Command & Conquer” and the spin-off “Red Alert” series will be remastered by Petroglyph Games, a studio founded by the original “Command & Conquer” developers. With that and the promise of not hamfisting microtransactions, it looks as if EA wants to make amends for the tragedy that was “Command & Conquer: Rivals”.

Release Date: September 20, 2019 There have been quite a number of “Zelda” titles released in the last few years, but after seeing the remake for “Link’s Awakening”, we’re nowhere close to brand fatigue. “Link’s Awakening” is a full-blown remake of the Game Boy original, boasting an adorably unique artstyle that’s new for the series. It’s also including a new mode that allows players to design their own dungeons as well as amiibo functionality, allowing players to apply “plus effects” to those dungeons. It won’t be long before we’re out to save the land from evil once more! Release Date: March 3, 2020 Twenty...years… It has been over twenty long years since “Final Fantasy VII” touched the hearts of gamers everywhere. Despite its status as a legend, let’s be honest with ourselves - the original hasn’t aged particularly well for today’s time. Thankfully, Square Enix has been toiling away at a remake, one that goes beyond visual upgrades and slight mechanical tweaks. “Final Fantasy VII Remake” is expanding upon the original, incorporating a new combat system and going deeper into different plot points. Square has warned players they’re unsure of how many episodes there will be, but with each one releasing like a full-fledged game, we’re pretty much set for the next twenty years before its time for another remake.
