Top 10 Most Ridiculous Outfits on Pretty Little Liars
VOICE OVER: Emily - WatchMojo WRITTEN BY: Sophia Huang
The most ridiculous outfits on "Pretty Little Liars" should stay burried. For this list, we'll be looking at the most questionable fashion choices the girls of “Pretty Little Liars” have made throughout the years. Our countdown includes the girls' funeral outfits, Mona's polka dot outfit, Aria's mixed prints, and more!

#10: The Girls’ Funeral Outfits
Various Episodes

When we think of funeral attire, we usually think modest, subdued pieces or really any black outfit that doesn’t draw attention. Clearly, Hanna, Aria, Spencer, and Emily have very different definitions of what is appropriate. To be fair, the girls have attended their fair share of funerals. This isn’t to say that ALL of their outfits have been misses, but their tendency to show up to these events wearing short dresses with cutouts and sheer panels makes them seem a little out of place. They often look like they’re dressed for a party, not to pay their respects to the deceased.

#9: Spencer's Poor Hat Choices
Various Episodes

Spencer is known as the preppy one out of her friends, so it makes sense that she’s dabbled in some headwear from time to time. While she looks great in a beret or even something with a wider brim, some of her other experiments with hats have led her down the wrong path. A lot of them, like her cloche hat decorated with a scarf and her patchwork newsboy one, either made her look much older or like an extra on the set of a Charles Dickens play. However, Spencer isn’t the only one with questionable hats. Aria’s glittery pillbox hat definitely caught some attention, too.

#8: Hanna's Red Metallic Leggings
“'A' Is for A-l-i-v-e”

These pants are definitely eye-catching, but that doesn’t make them fashionable. There’s no doubt that Hanna could pull these bright red disco pants off. It’s just that the pieces she pairs them with make the ensemble look frumpy rather than daring. Her printed top with a tie detail visually competes with her bottoms and doesn't do much for the silhouette. The cropped black jacket adds some edge, but overall, it looks like Hanna just threw a bunch of things on without really thinking about how they’d look together.

#7: Aria's Comic Print Outfit
“The Guilty Girl's Handbook”

This matching set packs a lot of punch into one outfit. The set is unusual, but it’s quirky and brings out Aria’s personality. The bigger problem is her choice of accessories that she pairs with it. On its own, the shoulder-heavy peplum top and skirt combo is already enough of a statement; there’s no need to add more. The yellow bag could have gone well with the look, considering it makes the yellow in the set pop, but the pins on the bag don’t add anything and only make the ensemble appear cluttered.

#6: Hanna's Cardigan & Belt Combo
“Can You Hear Me Now?”

Hanna usually dresses pretty well and knows how to dress for her body type, so this outfit took us by surprise. The shape and cut of the cardigan hide the silhouette of the dress, and the super chunky belt cinches in too high up to be flattering. The long beaded necklace is also confusing because it goes past her belt and throws the proportions of the look off. A floral dress is almost always a safe bet, as it gives off a carefree and ethereal vibe, but when worn like this, it just seems somewhat dated.

#5: Pre-Transformation Mona
“The First Secret”

Before transforming herself, Mona wasn’t exactly the sharpest dresser, but it was almost as though she was deliberately trying to play into the archetypal outcast in this outfit. In the flashback scenes, Mona just looks like a stereotypical nerd, from her cardigans and frumpy pieces to her glasses. Her lack of outfit coordination, paired with the fact that she didn’t seem to follow trends, made her a target for Alison’s teasing. The pigtails were also an interesting choice - not exactly a popular style for her age group, but one she continued to cling to.

#4: Mona's Polka Dot Outfit
“Breaking the Code”

Even after her transformation from loser to popular girl, Mona had some fashion mishaps. The dizzying colorful print of her polka dot top paired with her acid green and black skirt is one of them. Even though her skirt is pretty form-fitting, the boxy shirt takes away from the shape of the ensemble. One of the most confusing parts of this look is her thick, rainbow colored belt as it doesn’t add anything stylistically and doesn’t seem to have a practical purpose either. Altogether, these items create a pretty unusual look.

#3: Aria & Spencer's Runway Outfits
“Never Letting Go”

Runway fashion is typically pretty avant garde and unconventional, but Aria and Spencer's outfits on the catwalk were just a little too out there. Most glaringly, there were just so many different textures lumped into this look: from feathers to fur to fringe. Both of their outfits appear to be seafaring inspired, with the puffed sleeves and ruffles. It seems as though they were going for a grungy, dishevelled look but there was just too much going on at once. Sure, this was a fashion show, these outfits just didn’t work!

#2: Aria's Mixed Prints
“She’s Better Now”

In typical Aria fashion, there’s just a lot happening in this outfit. Although there’s some kind of coordination here in terms of the color, with the black and white blazer and boots, overall, the look is more than a bit messy. The striped blazer completely clashes with her leopard print skirt and the animal graphic print on her t-shirt only adds to the visual chaos. To top it all off, Aria paired the look with not one, but three chunky bracelets on the same wrist. This outfit is full-on maximalism.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few dishonorable mentions.

Aria's Metallic Pants & Bunny Top, “Dead to Me”
Because Graphic Animal T-Shirt’s Aren’t Always the Best Style Choice

Emily's Christmas Graphic Tee, “Taking This One to the Grave”
Because Even Irony Can’t Save This Look

Aria's Super Cropped Jacket, “Mona Mania”
Because Who Needs Cutout Outerwear?

Aria’s Pirate Look, “It's Alive”
Because Rosewood Isn’t the Caribbean

#1: Aria's Tie Skirt
“Gamma Zeta Die!”

We all know that Aria is the quirky bohemian one out of the four girls but this skirt looks like a DIY project gone awry. Although the craftsmanship is impressive, the clashing patterns are very distracting. The skirt has got everything from polka dots to stripes, and yet Aria chose to pair it with a bright yellow spotted shirt - proving once again that she’s not one to stickg to just one or even two complimentary prints. This is really the ultimate Aria look: lots of colors and accessories all thrown together into one outfit.
